In the sketch, Chelsea plays Kim Kardashian who, after watching Schindler’s List, decides she and her sisters must do something to help save the Jews from the Nazis. In order to save them, every Jew they come across in the scene they hide in the basement. When they question why, Khloe (Fortune Feimster) yells, “Get in the basement!” The funny and loveable Heather McDonald plays their mother, Kris Jenner in the parody.
The sketch makes fun of all the other family members too : Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick, baby Mason (played by Chuy), Bruce Jenner, and even Kanye West. Kanye has to go to the basement because Kim just saw the movie Amistad and is worried about his safety.
With the Grammy’s coming up tomorrow, it’s only fitting that all week long, people have been compiling their favorite performances from Grammy’s past and People Magazine is no exception. However, it appears that a few performances happening at this weekend’s Grammy’s may raise a few eyebrows and be added to some lists for next year’s posts.
For example, The Beach Boys are ready to make a comeback with an upcoming tour and are kicking it all off at the Grammy’s. Joining them on stage will be Foster The People along with Maroon 5. If you’ve been watching the Grammy’s for the last few years, you’ve noticed that they are all about unlikely collaborations and making them happen on stage.
Another unlikely combo will the Grammy’s tribute to dance music. The performance is set to include David Guetta and Deadmau5 alongside Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and The Foo Fighters. Who ever thought you’d see all of these artists on stage together. Not me, that’s for sure. Check out People’s Top 10 list below.
It seems like everyone and their dog has a year end list these days. Why should celebrities be immune to succumbing to this trend and not share their favorites via a Top 10 list? Since Beyonce is major preggers right now and probably bored out of her mind, she decided to occupy herself by compiling her favorite 10 songs of 2011. According to a post on her official website, the “Irreplaceable” singer just couldn’t get enough of these tracks.
I have to admit the list sorta surprised me. The list is far more hip-hop than I would’ve expected. Sure, it includes her hubby Jay-Z but a few other rappers as well. Apparently, Bey has a major hard-on for Lil Wayne- he made the list three times. Someone sure likes to get their swagger on. That said, the list also included a few R&B tracks and a couple of surprises. Even Beyonce couldn’t leave Adele off her list. Because if she did, that would be some serious haterade. See what dominated the former Destiny’s Child singer’s iPod this past year. Speaking of DC, one of her bandmates also made the list. Find out who below.
I AM A MUSIC VIDEO ADDICT. I’m the first one to view it, first one to post it, and what’s better than seeing visuals to a song that make you love the song even more than you thought was possible. It was a big year for highly visual music videos and I have no lack of material to add to this list. This is MY list and if you disagree then comment below and tell me what your favourites were this year.
Two Words: Mercedes Maybach
Last night’s titillating “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” gave CBS executives a collective stiffy this morning. Naturally, you’d think it was due to the skimpy outfits the VS Angels wore down the glittered runway. Alas, I’m sure that partly helped, but execs love high ratings more than scantily-clad Glamazons. The Angels delivered in a big way. Not sure if Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj or Kanye West helped to inflate those numbers or if people were just in the mood for some T&A. Whatever the reason, I’m just glad that next year’s telecast is now a sure thing. If you haven’t checked out the recap of my 15 favorite outfits from the special, click here and do it now.
Typically, we don’t report on overnight Neilsen ratings, but I had to share this since I’m a huge fan of the yearly extravaganza. The annual event scored its best ratings since 2002. The hour-long show garnered a strong 4.6 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and attracted 10.3 million viewers. That number represents a whopping 35% leap from last year’s telecast. The show handily crushed everything last night and won the evening. CBS often wins the ratings war with regards to overall viewers but rarely wins the 18-49 demo. Last night, the network showed advertisers they too, can be young and hip.
For some, Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the Holiday season, while others begin their fa la la’ing on December 1st. Not me. Nothing revs up my engine for the festive season like the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This is how I like to ring in the holidays. Yuppers, I’m that kind of gay. You would be too, if you watched the yearly specials.
Everything you’ve come to expect from the annual extravaganza was on hand. From campy themes, sexy women, high-wattage musical performances and Swarovski crystals by the crate, all were in order to stage an unforgettable show. This year’s production held at the Lexington Avenue Armory in New York City cost a reported $12 million to stage. YOWZA, that’s a lot of panties and bras. What’s the markup on Victoria’s Secret’s lingerie? Papa needs to look into if they sell franchises.
Victoria’s Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, Candice Swanepoel and Chanel Iman along with a bevy of other beauties showed off their toned bodies in six creatively themed segments. Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Kanye West provided stand out performances for the girls to strut to. That being said, I much prefer it when the girls sashay down to custom mashups instead of the live music. It should be all about the models and outfits, instead of the musical acts. They have enough televised opportunities to show of their vocal abilities.
On September 17th “Occupy Wall Street” officially kicked off and saw roughly 1,000 protesters show up. That number has now grown substantially in the past for weeks and The Occupying has spread to more than 45 American cities and is quickly moving all over the world. The protest was originally called for by the Canadian activist group Adbusters but many more quickly joined in. On October 15th, a multitude of cities across the world plan to join the non-violent movement against the banking and major corporate worlds. Canadian places include Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary with international cities London, Dublin and Sydney following suit.
Many celebrities including Rosanne Barr, Kanye West, Russell Simmons, Susan Sarandon, Deepak Chopra and Michael Moore have already voiced their support for the movement. Many people are sporting signs that read “We are the 99%,” stating that they are part of the 99% of the population who have had enough with the 1% of the population that controls the money.
If there is one thing Pepsi is known for, it’s there famous commercials featuring of the most influential popstars in history. For my generation, you can remember in 2001 when Britney Spears was the it-girl and her Pepsi commercial and theme song was stuck in our heads for days. She wasn’t the first however. Before her, there was Michael Jackson and stellar Diet Pepsi ad featuring the brilliant, Ray Charles. Other popstars to hit the Pepsi circuit have been Mariah Carey and a really cool, windswept in Pepsi colors, Kanye West.
Now, to celebrate the premiere of X Factor in the US, Pepsi has compiled some of their favorite popstar commercials into a medley of stars to promote the slogan, “Who’s next?” followed by the X Factor logo and a mysterious silhouette headed to a microphone under a spotlight. How prophetic. With the show bringing the winner a record breaking five million recording contract, it’s no telling how big the winner will become. They could become the next biggest star in the world. Keep your eyes and ears peeled. Now, check out the new Pepsi commercial below.
