kanye west

Unless you’ve been off the grid for the past 24 hours, you’ve no doubt heard that the feud between Kanye West and Taylor Swift went nuclear. And that’s putting it mildly.

The entire brouhaha started when Kim Kardashian uploaded a series of videos to Snapchat, seemingly proving Swift was aware of the controversial “Famous” lyrics before the track surfaced online.

Naturally, the fallout from this has been huge, since the “Blank Space” singer has previously stated publicly she wasn’t aware of the song lyrics. Taylor took to Instagram to share her thoughts. “That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet,” she wrote before talking further about ‘character assassination.’

With the leak, there is speculation Taylor could take Kanye to court over this. If Taylor truly didn’t know she was being recorded, it would violate California’s “two-party consent” law which makes it a felony to record or eavesdrop on any confidential communication — namely, a phone call — without the consent of all those involved.

According to People, a source claims Taylor knew about the video and threatened Kanye back in February with criminal prosecution for recording their conversation without her knowledge, and demanded he destroy any video. It’ll be interesting to see how all this plays out in the media in the coming weeks and on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Check out all the video clips below and Taylor’s Instagram statement.

Whether you’ve watched it or not, no doubt you’ve heard about Kanye West’s latest controversial stunt. Dude certainly knows how to attract attention 😉 After being exclusively only available on Tidal, the 39-year-old rapper’s “Famous” video is now on YouTube. All 10+ glorious minutes of it.

Based on Vincent Desiderio’s painting “Sleep,” West’s visual features naked wax figures of Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Ray J, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby, Caitlyn Jenner, Amber Rose, George Bush and Anna Wintour all naked in bed together with him. It’s certainly provocative.

Naturally, it’s drawn the ire of many including Lena Dunham. The Girls actress called the clip, “one of the more disturbing ‘artistic’ efforts in recent memory.” “The prone, unconscious, waxy bodies of famous women, twisted like they’ve been drugged and chucked aside at a rager…,” she adds. “It gives me such a sickening sense of dis-ease.”

Desiderio responded to Dunham’s criticism with a post of his own.

“Artists are not saints. They’re not people whose first obligation is moral correctness.

As much as I like Dunham and appreciate her, art goes to dangerous places. And this is not to sound like Donald Trump, whom I loathe, but if you want to make it amenable to a certain political class or agenda, what a disaster that would be. It’s like saying, ‘Hitchcock, that guy must’ve really loved killing women.’ Or Dostoyevsky — ‘I don’t like that guy very much.’ It’s horrible to look at, horrible to hear, but there’s also the kernel of salvation. That tension between those two things is where art functions.”

Check out the thought-provoking clip below if you already haven’t seen it.

Andy Cohen never met a pun he didn’t like. God bless 😉

The “Plead The Fifth” segment is typically the most revealing part during a celebrity’s visit on Watch What Happens Live. Not so in Iggy Azalea’s case. In actuality it was quite meh and uneventful.

Thankfully, the 25-year-old Aussie rapper spilled much more tea during another segment. Watch her discuss her supposed feuds with Macklemore, T.I. and Britney Spears. Speaking of the latter, Iggy discloses which Las Vegas residency show she’d rather see. Britney or J. Lo? Watch below to find out.

Heading into the 58th annual Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar led the pack with a whopping 11 nominations. Taylor Swift and The Weeknd were close behind with 7 nods apiece. Each of them walked away with some hardware with Lamar taking the lead again with five statues.

With regards to the big categories, the Grammys spread the love. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ ubiquitous hit, “Uptown Funk” won Record of the Year while Album of the Year and Song of the Year went to Swift and Ed Sheeran respectively. It’s worth nothing, Taylor is the first woman to win Album of the Year twice.

The Best New Artist statue went to Meghan Trainor. Didn’t she already win a Grammy last year? How is she still a ‘new artist?’ It’s also worth mentioning, Justin Bieber walked away with his first Grammy statue for his “Where Are U Now?” collaboration with Diplo and Skrillex.

For the most part, the acceptance speeches weren’t anything too memorable with exception to Taylor. Even though her rep previously issued a statement regarding Kanye West’s controversial lyrics, Swift has kept mum… until now.

“As the first woman to win album of the year twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undermine your success or who will try to take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.” – Swift

Though she doesn’t specifically mention West’s name or “Famous,” it’s pretty clear her speech was a less-than-veiled response to the rapper. Watch her speech in full below, along with the complete winners list for the 2016 Grammys.

Considering everything on This Is Acting were tracks originally intended for other artists but ultimately rejected, they’ve all been fantastic. As they say ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.’ In this case, the tossed garbage could become huge hits for Sia.

Two new tracks have surfaced online. The first titled “Reaper” was written for Rihanna for her long-delayed Anti album and features production and co-writing efforts from Kanye West. Unlike the other RiRi reject “Cheap Thrills,” this one isn’t tropical-tinged. It’s even better if you ask me.

Meanwhile “Making The Most of The Night” was co-written with Carly Rae Jepsen for her underrated Emotion LP. You can definitely tell Jepsen worked on this. It has her vibe all over it.

Sadly though, it looks like this won’t make the final cut for This Is Acting. When Sia released the official tracklist the other day, this wasn’t on it. Sadly, this demo might be all that we’re going to get. Check out both tracks below and weigh in afterward.

American Idol kicks off its farewell run this Wednesday with its Season 15 premiere on FOX. As always, it’ll begin with memorable auditions from on the road. Kanye West was one of those who performed in front of Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr and Keith Urban.

“My name is Kanye, I’m from the south side of Chicago,” the 38-year-old entertainer told the judges.

Obviously, it’s a gimmick crafted by producers to drum up interest. Why would Kanye do it, you ask? Sure, he’s a fame whore and all but I figure it had more to do with Kim Kardashian. Ryan Seacrest who produces her reality show probably asked for a huge favor.

Check out his full audition of “Gold Digger” below. While I love that song, personally I wouldn’t have given him a golden ticket to Hollywood. I’ve seen better. Perhaps, he should’ve called up Season 8 winner Kris Allen for a duet on “Heartless.” Remember Allen’s epic performance of that? So good.

News of Kanye West’s appearance on the farewell season of American Idol first broke months ago. FOX just released a new promo featuring the rapper’s much-heralded cameo.

Interestingly enough, Mr. Kim Kardashian is bundled up with some of the singing competition’s most notoriously bad singers. From William Hung’s unforgettable “She Bangs” audition to Season 6’s Sanjaya Malakar and a few in between. After watching this, I’m even more curious to see what West has in store for his ‘audition.’

The Weeknd Debuts ‘Tell Your Friends’ Music Video

In: Donovan, Music

The Weeknd drops his second studio album Beauty Behind The Madness this week. Based on what I’ve heard so far, the 25-year-old Canadian crooner will avoid the dreaded sophomore slump. “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face” were both Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 hits and his latest is poised to follow the same trajectory.

Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd just debuted his latest visual to promote his LP’s release. And it’s a dark one. “Tell Your Friends” produced by Kanye West features Weeknd getting buried alive. He later appears above ground firing his gun at the same man who appeared in the his “Can’t Feel My Face” video.

Check out the Grant Singer-directed video below, along with a Beauty Behind The Madness album sampler. His album sounds so good.
