The Lone Ranger Releases Character Posters

In: Donovan, Movies

When I first heard a big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger was in the works, I immediately rolled my eyes. Completely unnecessary if you ask me. My eyes continued to roll when Johnny Depp was cast as Tonto. I like Deep, but his casting was a tad ridiculous. Then I saw the first movie trailer which debuted during the Super Bowl, and had a tiny change of heart. Perhaps it was my low expectations, but it looked somewhat decent. I still don’t have an urge to run to the theaters but at least my eye-rolling has stopped. My eyeballs are thankful 😉

Disney just released character posters for the film and they’re pretty good. Armie Hammer as the titular character looks smoking hot with the scruff and the black eye mask. Ruth Wilson of Anna Karenina fame looks stunning in her artwork. Also receiving a poster of their own are William Fitchtner, Helena Bonham Carter and of course, Johnny Depp. Check them all out below. The Lone Ranger opens nationwide on July 3rd.

Movie Synopsis

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Tonight, MTV celebrated another great year in movies for the masses with the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. After a star-studded red carpet and pre-show, the festivities kicked off with an electric performance from FUN. rocking out their hit, “We Are Young.” In a surprise twist, Janelle Monae joined the band on stage.

Playing host for the evening was Katy Perry’s recent ex, Russell Brand and I have to say, he nailed it. From his hilarious banter and wit to sometimes incomprehensible accent, it was a joy to watch him on stage between performances and presentations.

Other performances for the night included Wiz Khalifa and The Black Keys who were joined on stage by the evening’s Generation Award winner, Johnny Depp. This year, MTV presented their first ever Trailblazer Award which was handed to Emma Stone after a hilarious video tribute from Jim Carrey, Ana Farris, Steve Carrell and Jason Sudeikis. With no surprise to anyone at all, “The Hunger Games” was a big winner of the night. But, were they big enough to win Best Movie? Find out below.

Nancy Shevell sure is one lucky woman. How else would you describe her, given that her husband, who happens to be a former Beatle, wrote a song about falling in love with her. To boot, two A-list actors appear in the accompanying music video bringing Paul McCartney’s words to life. Then you have rock legend Eric Clapton playing the guitar on the track. I’d say that’s the very definition of lucky. “My Valentine” is the lead cut off Paul’s new album, “Kisses on the Bottom“.

To celebrate the premiere of McCartney’s “My Valentine” music video, Sir Paul had his famous fashion designer daughter, Stella, hold a party at her Los Angeles boutique. The party was a who’s who of celebrities from the music, film and television world. The 69-year-old legend directed the black and white clip himself with the assistance of Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight, Inception), who handled cinematography duties.

Obviously beautifully shot, the simple clip features Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman performing sign language to the song’s lyrics. Three versions of the clip were edited. One with Portman and Depp starring in their own full-length version and the third with the two of them joining forces. Check out the combo version below.

Transforming once again, Johnny Depp stars as vampire Barnabas Collins in ‘Dark Shadows‘, the Tim Burton movie based on the 1960s TV series of the same name. The original series was more of a gothic soap opera, whereas this new film is more of a campy comedy, like The Addams Family.

After being cursed by the witch Angelique Bouchard and locked away in a coffin for centuries, Collins is freed in the year 1972 and must adjust to the way the world is now. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin, and his dysfunctional clan each harboring their own dark secrets.

The film also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz and Helena Bonham Carter. The part in the trailer where Collins discovers a TV for the first time seriously made me burst out laughing. The film looks fun and I’m definitely interested in watching it. Check out the trailer below!

Don’t you just hate it when you’re talking with your friends and for some reason you can’t think of that particular movie, actress or actor you need to prove your point? I know, I do. Thank God for I can’t even begin to tell you how many times the site has eased my mind and more importantly, proven my point. What in the world did we do before IMDB?

The online database of entertainment information receives more than 110 million monthly unique users. Not sure, how many of those searched for Natalie Portman or Mila Kunis, but enough did to rank the two “Black Swan” actresses first and second in terms of most profile views for 2011. In addition to their award-winning ballet film, both actresses stared in similar themed romantic comedies (No Strings Attached & Friends With Benefits). It’s only fitting that these two place side-by-side. Who do you think won in the end? Find out below and the other celebrities rounding out IMDB’s Top 10 list.

I am so excited for this TV series turned movie remake. 21 Jump Street may not be out until March 16, 2012 but a new red band trailer has been released giving us a pretty solid glance at what to look forward to. There is also buzz flying around that Johnny Depp who as you know starred in the original series, makes more than just a cameo in the new film. Bonus! It doesn’t hurt that hotties Channing Tatum and Dave Franco are in the film too.

Just like the original concept, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill go undercover as high school students to crack down on youth crime. The two are recruited for the 21 Jump Street unit because they can pass as students. The two are sent in to infiltrate a drug ring that is going on in the school. When the duo realizes that the popular kids are behind it, the two decide to throw a party to crack down. The result seems to be nothing but pure comedy.

Some interesting facts about the film. Emma Stone was originally offered the lead female role in the film but turned it down to star in the new Spiderman movie. The role instead went to Brie Larson who you may recognize from The United States of Tara. Jonah Hill co-wrote the screenplay and specifically wrote in the cameo role for Johnny Depp. Overall, I cannot wait to see this film, regardless of having to wait until next Spring to see it. Without further ado, check out the red band trailer below.

Earlier this week, I shared Rihanna’s new blond look on the cover of British Vogue and Kate Winslet’s mod-tastic Harper’s Bazaar one. Obviously, there not the only celebs gracing the cover of magazines this November. All you have to do is take a quick glance at your local newsstand to see that. So, I decided to pick a few of my favorite celebrities pimping themselves out on magazine covers this month and ask you, which one is your favorite. I’ve chose publications ranging from British GQ to Gay Times Magazine featuring Kellan Lutz, Taylor Lautner, Darren Criss, Kristin Stewart, Johnny Depp and Nicki Minaj. Take a quick look at all of them and cast your vote.

Kellan Lutz

Lutz talks about what he’s up to now that filming “Twilight” is over. Here’s what he’ll miss the most about the franchise. “The best part of being a part of the franchise was hanging out with the fans at the premieres and the fan conventions and all the signings.” More of Kellan Lutz at

First Look: Johnny Depp In “The Rum Diary”

In: Movies, Tyrell, Videos

Who’s ready for a rum-soaked vacay to Puerto Rico? That’s exactly what we’re store for when we call head to the theater to check out Johnny Depp in the novel turned film, The Rum Diary. Depp plays Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who hits a critical turning point in his career when he finds himself writing for a rundown newspaper in the Caribbean. However, Kemp finds hope when he meets the beautiful Chenault from Connecticut played by Amber Heard. The film also stars the talented Aaron Eckhart.

In the trailer, we see Johnny in some of his finest comedic hours. Is it just me or since Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp has found the exceptional skill of playing a very convincing drunk. Food for thought. The film is brought to us by the brilliant Bruce Robinson who adapted the screenplay from the novel. My favorite moment is when Depp and Michael Rispoli are driving in a car together without a front seat. You’ll laugh out loud at the result. Check out The Rum Diary trailer below.
