Generally speaking, the calendars I tend to put the spotlight on are ones that feature half-naked men. Rarely, if ever, do I share ones with topless women. Given the prestige of the Pirelli calendar and my love for supermodels, especially my current favorite Gigi Hadid (above representing November), I had to post these NSFW images.

Photographed by famed photographer Steven Meisel, this year’s lucky individuals to make the cut include Adriana Lima, Natalia Vodianova, Joan Smalls, Carolyn Murphy, Anna Ewers, Cameron Russell, Sasha Luss, Karen Elson, Isabeli Fontana, Raquel Zimmerman and Hadid. For the first time in the calendar’s 51-year history, a plus-size model (Candice Huffine) is included in the bunch.

“In my opinion, these are the key aesthetic models of today’s world. They represent the stereotypes that the fashion and star system impose upon us right now,” Meisel said in a press release. “I didn’t want to make a conceptual calendar, or link it to some particular location, but rather to create 12 posters in which women, in all their sensuality, are the absolute protagonists of 12 very different images. Since I wanted to limit the use of clothes and accessories and since I had absolute creative freedom, I found it very exciting to play with the colours, the makeup, and the materials. It was a very rewarding experience.”

After featuring pop artists on its cover for several months, V Magazine returns to their fashion roots with their Fall Preview issue. They enlisted famed photographer Mario Testino to couple up some of the industry’s hottest models to grace four separate covers.

Joan Smalls, Amanda Murphy, Emily Didonato, Matthew Terry, Aurelien Muller, Clark Bockelman and Sean O’Pry were the lucky ones chosen for the sickeningly seductive spread titled “Model Mania.” Check out the other three covers below and weigh in on which couple has the steamiest chemistry. Smalls and Muller are featured above.

Vogue Reveals Top 10 Models For 2013

When they say fashion is a fickle industry, they weren’t kidding. Vogue recently released their annual list of the year’s best female models and only two who made the Top 10 last year, also made the cut in 2013. Vicious!!!

If you’re a hardcore modelizer and follow Models.com rankings, you’ll notice the publication’s rankings are quite different. While the model website takes into account campaigns, runways and editorials from all publications, Vogue’s list primarily factor in appearances in their various editions around the world. Not just any appearance, but who photographed them, if they received top billing, number of pages they graced and naturally how many covers landed. Quality, quality, quality is the key.

Last year’s winner Karlie Kloss lost her grip and fell just short, landing in the runner-up slot. Find out which model knocked her off below. You’ll notice, the list is dominated by Dutch and English girls. Other nationalities better step it up ;)

2014-victorias-secret-fashion-show

The most glamorous fashion show of the year aired last night on CBS. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year. There’s something about watching barely-clothed glamazon women strutting their stuff on the glittered runway that I find truly fascinating. I’m not alone.

Typically I have people over, but due to a prior commitment, I couldn’t host a gathering. The yearly telecast consistently does well in the ratings with the 2011 edition reaching heavenly heights. No wonder the reported budget for this year’s show ballooned to $12 million. Definitely a hefty hike from the first show back in 1995 which cost $120,000 to produce. Was the money worth it?

Vogue Reveals Top 10 Models For 2012

In: Donovan, Fashion

Nothing will ever come close to the Supermodel Era during the 90s, but I feel a renaissance with models becoming household names is upon us. Personally, I say bring it on. I was a huge fan of Linda, Christy, Naomi and Cindy back in the day.

Vogue recently released their annual list of the fashion industry’s Top 10 female models and I thought I’d share it with you. I’m sure I’m not the only modelizer out there who might enjoy this. With regards to how Vogue determined which girl made the list is beyond me. I’m sure it had to do with who landed on the most editorials and covers of the publication’s various international editions. Check out the list below. I’m sure you might recognize a couple of the names.

Some consider Thanksgiving the start to the Holiday Season, while others wait for December 1st. For me, it’s when CBS airs their annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. No lie. It’s one of my favorite things in the entire world. Mark my words, one day I will attend it front row, hanging out with the supermodels respective boyfriends ;) While not as potent as last year’s telecast, the lingerie fashion show still managed to be the highest rated program of the night in the coveted demo. Congrats ladies.

For me, this wasn’t one of the best outings by Victoria’s Secret. I thought there was TOO much focus on the music acts. Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars all performed two sons apiece. IMHO, the show shines the best when it’s all about the ladies sashaying down the runway to a wicked mash-up. It’s their one time a year to shine. We can watch RiRi and the Biebs on the X Factor, Grammys, AMAs, VMAs and the list go on.

That said, there were a few highlights. The “Circus” theme was brilliant (thanks to the awesome mashup) as was the “Silver Screen Angels“. The giant-sized pinball props for the “Pink Is Us” was also worth noting. Even though a few ensembles from the “Calendar Girls” segment made my Top 15 list, it was the worst theme. When the outfits went wrong, they went horribly wrong. Check out my Top 15 favorites from last night’s show.
