You gotta hand it to Manila Luzon, she is hustlin harder than any other bitch in the game. Today she gave us a delicious holiday treat, her new music ft. our current reigning Next Drag Superstar Jinkx Monsoon.
If you’ve heard the song (available on iTunes) it’s all about self empowerment and living ever day to it’s fullest. It’s also very special because it features the story of a young Sahara Davenport and we even get a cameo from our dearly departed queen.
I want to talk about the outfits in this video. In true Manila form we have got some GREAT looks, but my personal fave is the Spongebob dress and Jinkx and the starfish with the dreads. That’s a REALLY good look for Jinkx, she should totally wear that when she comes to Vancouver for Battle of the Seasons (Tickets online HERE!)
It’s Manila Luzon overload today at the Homorazzi offices!
In true Manila fashion she has released two new delicious morsels of fun for us. The first is a segment of World of Wonder’s hit web series Ring My Bell. There is also a really amazing caller on this segment, he sounds extremely attractive and super cool!
The second is the long awaited release of her next single, this one titled “Bring It” featuring season 5 winner Jinkx Monsoon. I of course bought it at 2:30 am last night after stumbling home from Liberace Thursday, listened to it and loved it. It’s got a great dance beat, a fun hook and unless I”m mistaken an homage to the dearly departed Sahara Davenport. With a really fun rap by Jinkx Monsoon, how can you go wrong for 99 cents!
If you want to get the single you CLICK HERE and get it from iTunes (she’s also got it on amazon!)
Check out the episode of RING MY BELL below!
If drag queens and shirtless boys hanging poolside are two of your favorite things, then you simply have to watch the following videos. Being that it’s Sunday, I like to give a little behind the scenes insight on our writers every now and then.
Our very own Tommy D holds some of the most kick-ass parties during Vancouver Pride. You’re bound to bump into a few alums from RuPaul’s Drag Race at his TFD Presents functions. All the crazy shenanigans were captured on film at his Heatwave pool party featuring Jinkx Monsoon and Morgan McMichaels along with his Wizard of Oz-themed Rapture Vancouver Pride closing event. Check out both clips below.
Continuing with our Vancouver Pride 2013 coverage, I’m sharing our very own Tommy‘s Pride lineup. If pool parties, wicked music and RuPaul’s Drag Race are your thing, his TFD Presents events are a must. Shangela, Morgan McMichaels, Manila Luzon and reigning winner Jinkx Monsoon will be serving MAH-JOR FIERCENESS at their respective performances.
Speaking for myself, I can’t wait. You’ll definitely spot me there, not only to support, but to have a kick-ass time. Check out details for each party below. Just in case you missed it, I also embedded the sexy video promo for RAPTURE: VICTORY featuring Mackenzie Green. See you at YVR Pride.
I’m surprised RuPaul didn’t think of this sooner. The grand dame of RuPaul’s Drag Race is heading out on the road. Correction. Ru herself isn’t going, but she’s sending her trusty hag Michelle Visage to oversee and host the Battle of the Seasons tour. Tickets go on sale today Friday, July 19. No stalling and be sure to act quickly just in case the show in your city sells out.
“I am honored to be the hostess (a.k.a drag mother) to these talented queens, and we are overjoyed to be working with the legendary Live Nation to bring the art of drag to yet another level: theater,” Michelle Visage said. “RuPaul’s Drag Race has given the art form a voice, and we cannot wait to use it at a theater near you!”
Yes, I’m aware what date it is. Yes I know when TO Pride was. But after waking up in a wheelbarrow in Tijuana it took me a while to find my way home. But actually Toronto Pride was a little like that this year.
I was thinking of calling this “Toronto Pride 2013: Sea of Tears” after Willam didn’t show for the weekend, but then it really did feel like the Pride that “Never Ended” because he did in fact show up the weekend after. Okay, let’s back track.
Pride Thursday I didn’t get a chance to go to the Green Space at the 519 and see Jinkx Monsoon perform. The crowd apparently was unreal, the show great, but being a little disappointed I bucked up and moved on because it was Pride, and this was the Pride when everything just worked out for me as you’ll see. I had a great time at Fly later that Thursday for Prism’s College party, and if you’re not a circuit queen, this is the Prism party to go to next year. Every age and shape shows and has a great time, the music is dece, it’s a Thursday and there’s still a great party, so there’s that. And the great thing is Shangela killed it on stage. Went to meet a friend for a cocktail upstairs though, and lo-and-behold there was Jinkx sittin’ pretty anyways, so got to have a bevvy with her after missing the show and she was an absolute dream and a truly lovely person. Nic – 1. Highlight of the night was having Shangela throw, literally throw me her phone in a panic and yell the password at me, and then tell me to bolt for the balcony to film her on stage because no one had been assigned to. I’ve never been so panicked! She may be 4 feet tall, but she gets what she wants with that voice! The footage was gotten.
Last year, our own very Tommy D brought us to Gotham. This year he has an exciting new adventure for Vancouver Pride. He’s sweeping us to the magical land of Oz complete with performances by Manila Luzon, Morgan McMichaels and newly-crowned Drag Superstar Jinkx Monsoon.
TFD Presents just dropped its first promo vid for the party and it’s a scorcher. Playing the role of Theodore (Dorothy’s brother) is SYTYCD Canada alum Mackenzie Green. If I included Canadian dancers on my Hottest SYTYCD Dancers List, he definitely would’ve made it, along with Nico Archambault (SIGH).
Mackenzie makes his way to OZ by dancing to Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)” while wearing glittery red high-tops and gingham swim trunks. It’s Dorotny’s attire but gay’d up. What else do you need for slutty season aka Pride. Check out the promo clip for Rapture: OZ below.
RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Jinkx Monsoon graces the cover of the latest issue of Next Magazine. The Season 5 winner, along with her Final 3 sisters sit down with the publication to talk about their experience on the Logo show. Check out a few excerpts from their chat.
Jinkx Monsoon on the filming three separate endings: “It’s at least less bonkers now that Ru tweeted about [shooting three finales] and we don’t have to keep it a secret. It makes it a photo finish and nail-bitingly awesome.”
Alaska Thunderfvck on Alyssa and Coco’s drama: “The thing about [Alyssa and Coco’s] drama w as they were smart about it. They got there and were like, ‘we have drama but we’ll talk about it later.’ You know you’re going to get a few episodes out of your storyline that way!”
Roxxxy Andrews on diversity among the winners: “It’s time to crown a plus-size girl, and no Latino has ever won.”
In other Jinkx Monsoon-related news, the Pacific Northwest queen gets a remix treatment like her RPDR Season 5 castmate Alyssa Edwards. Jinkx delivers a spoken-word monologue in the character of Little Edie, whom Drag Race viewers will remember from the Snatch Game episode, set to the tune of Two Dudes In Love’s ambient chill trans beat. I prefer Alyssa’s remixed track better, but Jinkx’s “Schizophrenic” is perfect to play in the background at your next gathering. Check it out below.
