While this celebrity endorsement seems completely random to me, to execs over at Budget Rental, Jessica Simpson is “a great fit for the brand.” Maybe the CEO had a huge crush during the 35-year-old entertainer’s pop tart singing days.

“We believe that Budget is the leading value car rental brand in America and is ideal for anyone who wants to get away for the weekend or the week, or for avoiding the paparazzi if you’re an entertainment superstar,” said Scott Deaver, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Avis Budget Group. “Jessica Simpson embodies the joyful, exuberant entrepreneurial spirit of our customers and is a great fit for the brand. She’s a professional busy mom of two who values the time she spends with her family.”

I’m curious how much the car rental company forked over to Jessica for her time and effort. Check out the two ad spots below. One features Simpson avoiding pesky paparazzi photographers, while the other shows Simpson asking her smartphone for family getaway ideas.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson celebrated their first Valentines Day as a married couple by posing for a steamy photoshoot. Someone’s still in their honeymoon phase 😉

The 34-year-old singer and her silver fox hubby claim to be paying homage to Fifty Shades of Grey due to their hashtag #FIFTYSHADESOFJOHNSON, but the photos seem more on the tame side. Where are the whips, chains and bondage attire Jess???

Laugh At Jessica Simpson’s Expense

Jessica Simpson is pregnant with her second child but that isn’t slowing her down. TV Guide is reporting that NBC is developing a comedy for the 32-year-old singer. Sorry Britney, it looks like J-Simp beat you to the punch. The “Toxic” singer recently revealed after leaving The X Factor that she’d love to appear in a sitcom. Perhaps NBC can coax Spears into making an appearance on the show. Better yet, bring on Christina Aguilera as well. I’d give anything to see those three blonds on the same show. EPIC!!!

This isn’t the first collaboration between Simpson and the network. She also appears as a mentor on the peacock network’s Fashion Star which returns for a second season on March 8. Ben Silverman who recruited Jessica for Fashion Star believes she has a Lucille Ball quality and was eager to build a comedy around her. Find out what his vision is below.

For the third straight year in a row, Jennifer Hudson appears in a Weight Watchers commercial. This time she’s joined by Jessica Simpson to entice overweight people to use the brand’s system to keep their New Years resolutions. Both women have had great success with the company with Hudson reportedly losing 80 lbs and Simpson with about 50 lbs. Speaking of the latter, now that she’s pregnant she’s off the program, according to Weight Watchers.

In the new clip, both ladies share their respective weight loss journeys. What they don’t share is a hug or any sort of physical contact (not including the picture above). Jennifer and Jessica strut their way to each other but when they meet, a sort of awkward exchange of smiles transpires. You’d think a high-five at the very least would take place. Katie Couric’s comeback to daytime was bound to generate decent premiere numbers, but the margin among her freshmen class was impressive. Also debuting brand new talk shows were Survivor host Jeff Probst and Ricki Lake. Katie pulled in a 2.8 rating, according to overnight numbers. That number represents a 150% lead over Probst’s show and 250% over Lake’s return to the talk show format. Looks like nobody was missing Ricki from the daytime landscape. Even Steve Harvey who debuted his new show last week and Bethenny Frankel’s test run in the summer fared better than Jeff and Ricki. But unlike primetime, the daytime rating’s race is more of a marathon than a sprint. It’ll be interesting to see if Katie’s numbers hold in the coming weeks.

I watched Katie’s premiere and found it clunky at best. Her interview with Jessica Simpson who was debuting her post-baby body was awkward. Faring much better was the segment with Sheryl Crow who wrote the show’s theme song. As a side note, Crow looked sensational. Whatever she’s doing as part of her daily regiment is working. The 50-year-old singer definitely didn’t look her chronological age.

It’s official. Katie Couric will be heading to the daytime talk circle with her new show simply titled Katie ready to air on September 10. The show hasn’t even started and already, there are a slew of guests Couric is ready to interview. So, who will be appearing on Katie’s inaugural show? How about the show’s theme song singer!

That’s right, the show’s theme song is song and performed by a pretty famous face- Sheryl Crow to be exact and she will be one of Katie’s first guests. The singer will talk about her recent battle with health issues as well as her family. And who will be joining Sheryl? Another singer who also has a family to talk about.

Pop star and fashion designer Jessica Simpson will also sit down with Katie for her first post-birth television appearance. She talks about balancing career and motherhood- a task that I’m sure is not a simple one. Simpson also chats to Couric about the challenges of losing the baby weight after giving birth.

Cue massive laugh track now. Absolutely hilarious. NBC just announced Jessica Simpson will be joining its new reality series, “Fashion Star” as the show’s mentor. The show will pit twelve aspiring designers as they compete for a multimillion-dollar contract to launch their own brand. Each week they’ll face challenges that will push them to further develop and expand their brands. I’m envisioning it to be “Project Runway” meets “The Next Great Restaurant“.

Considering the scope of the competition, Simpson addition doesn’t seem that out-of-place after all. The 30-year-old has been touted as a mini-mogul for her highly successful brand which includes nearly two-dozen products. It’s been said that it’s the most successful celebrity fashion line ever. Who knew? That being said, I would’ve appreciated her more in a judging capacity then taking on a mentoring role. How can you take the girl who mistook tuna for chicken seriously?

No wonder she’s not signing anymore. Apparently Jessica Simpson‘s clothing line is “Irresistible”! Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) has reported that the Jessica Simpson Collection will most likely become the first ever celebrity fashion line to earn more than a billion dollars in retail sales. This year alone, it has already brought in $750 million in retail sales! Holy crap! Her estimated net worth is $100 million right now. She’s come a long way since her “Chicken of the Sea” comment.

Vince Camuto, the founder and CEO of Camuto Group (the brand’s master licensee) said to WWD, “She is the girl next door and has great product that surrounds her. People like her. People look at her as a style icon.”
