It’s a long way from the Bronx to Inglewood, but Jennifer Lopez made the long trek. In a pimped-out yellow convertible lowrider with boy toy Casper Smart driving to boot. The 43-year-old makes a cameo in Becky G’s new music video which samples Lopez’s 2002 hit, “Jenny from the Block.”
Becky G (born Rebbeca Marie Gomez) is Dr. Luke’s protege. The 16-year-old plays homage to her hometown of Inglewoooooooooood, California in her “Becky From The Block” music video. She bouncily gives a “scenic” tour of all her old haunts. I need to book a trip to Inglewood stat ;)
“It was such a dope and fun experience to work with an idol of mine. Jen has always been an inspiration to me so to have her blessing on my remake of “Jenny from the Block” was part of my dream coming true,” Becky G said. “‘Becky from the Block’ is my life story and for her to have listened to it and be in the music video means the world to me. Hanging out with her and sharing a lot of laughs will be something I will never forget.”
Prior to her debut track, Becky G provided guest vocals for “Wish U Were Here” and “Oath” for Aussie Cody Simpson and Brit Cher Lloyd respectively. Take a tour of Inglewood with Becky and J. Lo below.
This morning, Chris Brown stopped by Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show for an interview about his music and of course all of the things that have happened in his personal life over the past few years.
They first talk about his music and how he has a new album coming out called X, the roman numeral for ten which is how many years he’s now been in the business (he’s only 24 years old right now). X is also the 24th letter in the alphabet and he also has an X tattoo so it all has meaning to him. Brown will be releasing a new single on April 1 called “Fine China” and also worked with Jennifer Lopez on some music (I think both for his album as well as for hers).
The meaty part of the interview is how he handles the questions about what happened with Rihanna and the downward spiral after that. He was also asked how he responds to fans that say, “I like his music but I can’t like him anymore.” He was also asked “What’s the greatest lesson you’ve learned going through that hard time?”
I have to say that this is the best interview he has ever done and really seems to get how people perceive him and really accepts responsibility for everything he did, how he acted and what was at stake. He doesn’t make any excuses for what he did and really seems to have changed. Listen to the interview below and share your thoughts in the comments.
For those actresses who didn’t make either my 2013 Golden Globes Top 10 Best Dressed or Top 5 Worst Dressed lists, I thought I’d pit some of them in fashion battles against each other. Check out a few below.
Ever since Angelina Jolie made a huge splash at last year’s Oscars with her thigh-bearing dress, several ladies have tried to channel their inner Jolie. Halle Berry and Rosie Huntington Whiteley were just two names who attempted the high-slit trend last night. Does Berry have a “leg up” on Whiteley with her printed Versace gown? Or does the Victoria’s Secret model win the battle with her black Saint Laurent dress? Cast your vote below. Side note: Didn’t Halle’s “berries” look lopsided in that dress?
Jennifer Lopez is the three Gs in her latest photo shoot- glamorous, glowing and gorgeous. Seriously, does this woman ever age? The former American Idol judge is even more stunning at 43-years-old than when she was a Fly Girl dancing on In Living Color back in the 90s. Lopez is ready for battle in the arena (a fashion one) with her gladiator-inspired shoes and couture dresses serving as her armor.
Photographer Katjia Rawles snapped the flawless Lopez in clothes from Balmain, Giuseppe Zanotti, Paco Rabanne for Harper’s Bazaar’s February 2013 issue. The fashion editorial was shot on location at the Ciragan Palace Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. The former Mrs. Marc Anthony took a brief break during her current world tour. In the accompanying interview, J-Lo talks about her new beau Casper Smart, why she left Idol and her infamous green Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys, among other things. Check out more photos and a few memorable quotes below.
“I’m not a judge for a living,” she explains. “I’m a singer. I’m a dancer. I’m a performer. I’m an actress. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing. It makes me a better parent, a better person.”
Today, the action-packed trailer for an upcoming film called Parker was released and we’ve got your first look. The film stars Jason Statham, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce and Nick Nolte and looks like it’ll be worth checking out.
The movie is based on the series of bestselling novels by Donald E. Westlake, following Parker (Jason Statham) who is a professional thief who lives by his own personal code of ethics: “Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it.” In his latest heist, his crew double crosses him (led by Michael Chiklis’ character), steals his loot and leaving him for dead.
Of course Parker is determined to ensure they regret that move so he tracks them to PalmBeach, the playground for the rich and where they crew is planning their biggest heist ever. Parker gets into disguise and enlists the help of Leslie (Jennifer Lopez), a savvy insider who has what it takes to help pull their plan off. Together, they come up with a plan to hijack the heist, take everyone down and most importantly, get away with it. Sounds fun! I love JLo in action movies.
Parker hits theaters on January 25. Check out the first trailer below!
It’s one of the biggest head-to-head battles people have been looking forward to this season. Would Simon Cowell’s newly-revamped X Factor lineup beat out The Voice and their red swivel chairs? The answer is ‘yes’ and ‘no’. While NBC’s talent show won in total viewers (10.6 million versus 8.5), the FOX reality show beat its rival in the coveted 18-34 demographic and won the night in the adults 18-49. Still, Simon was rightfully worried that The Voice’s third night would steal some viewers away.
The second season premiere of X Factor garnered 8.5 million viewers, down over 3.5 million from last year. Here’s the silver lining, the show grew by 6 percent in the key demos and grew in its second hour. Given that it was up against NBC’s one-two punch of The Voice and finals of America’s Got Talent, it did well. I only expect those numbers to go up tonight when the show faces no competition. Plus I think the universal love and praise, fans and critics have bestowed on last night’s premiere will bring in more viewers. Remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint. I firmly believe X Factor will win come December.
In other singing-related news. Katie Couric revealed (spoiled) some very interesting American Idol news. Curious? Keep reading to find out.
Just when I thought I was done with Glee, Ryan Murphy snags Kate Hudson for a six-episode arc as deliciously wicked Cassandra July. Slowly, FOX has teased us with glimpses of Hudson’s debut, with episodic pics, to an extended clip of her first interaction with Rachel Berry and even the audio for her first performance. At long last, we finally have the official video for her first number on the FOX show.
The powers-that-be were kind enough to debut Hudson’s performance days before the show’s fourth season premiere and it lives up to all the hype. Not only does she sound great but her dancing is flawless. It shouldn’t come as a surprise for anyone who saw Nine. She was the best thing in that musical bomb. Check out the clip and witness Kate school Lea Michele (Rachel) on how real dancing should look like.
It looks like Jennifer Lopez got exactly what she needed out of American Idol. A career lift. After two seasons, JLo bid adieu to the reality show and started to once again focus on her music career and current tour with Enrique Iglesias. And now, like many pop artists in the top 40 realm, Jennifer has decided to join the leagues of those before her and release a 3D documentary movie surrounding her current tour aptly titled, “Dance Again.” But, don’t just expect to see live concert footage.
As many of us who follow pop culture quite frequently know, Jennifer Lopez went through a pretty public divorce in the last few months only to not soon after, fall into the arms of back-up dancer, now boyfriend, Casper Smart. Jennifer promises to feature the struggles she has gone through over the last few years in her new film.
