From the people who brought you “Juno” and “Little Miss Sunshine“, comes this laugh out loud and heartwarming irreverent romantic comedy. While most films in the genre are from the female point of view, “The Switch” is narrated from the male point. You might say it’s a roMANtic comedy. The film stars Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, who was one of the executive producers.
Kassie Singleton (Jennifer Aniston) decides she wants to have a baby. Despite the objections of her neurotic best friend Wally (Jason Bateman), she chooses to do it alone, with the services of handsome and charming sperm donor Roland (Patrick Wilson). Wally has always had feelings for Kassie, but as his friend (Jeff Goldblum) points out, he missed his chance and she put him in the “friend zone”. But things don’t go to plan, as Wally gets so drunk at Kassie’s “insemination party” that he accidentally spills Roland’s semen and replaces it with his own.
At first you might think and groan that it’s another cookie-cutter Jennifer Aniston rom-com. But to dismiss it like that would be an injustice to yourself. Sure “The Switch” follows certain conventions regarding the leads, but it’s well written and inserts a few obstacles you wouldn’t expect. Instead of relying on cliche gags, the comedy works due to the pitch-perfect performance from Jason Bateman. Even though Aniston shares the marquee, I would almost say her role is a supporting one instead of lead. Because it’s all about Bateman.
I’ve always been Team Aniston, and in this match it’s no different!
Recently, Jennifer Aniston was interviewed, promoting her film The Switch, which is about Artificial Insemination. She said, “Women are realizing more and more that you don’t have to settle, they don’t have to fiddle with a man to have that child.” Fair statement. But not to Bill O’Reilly…
“Be fair about this…She’s throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that hey, you don’t need a dad! Dad, eh, you know. That’s destructive to society.”
Jennifer Aniston says to People in response:
“Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.”
Man, I love her. Always have, always will.
Check out O’Reilly’s douchie statements to see what sparked that witty response…
One of Hollywood’s top earning actresses, Jennifer Aniston, pays homage to icon Barbra Streisand in the latest issue, “Funny Girls,” in Harper’s Bazaar. The result? Some absolutely stunning photos of Aniston that are bang on in replicating some breathtaking photos of from 68 year old Streisand’s past.
Aniston has been a huge fan of hers for some time and finally got to meet her a few years ago and she was everything she had imagined her to be in person, and so much more. The inspiration for doing an homage to Barbra Streisand actually came from her hairstylist of 20 years, Chris McMillan, who uses 41 year old Aniston as his Barbie Doll for his creations.
Jennifer Aniston’s upcoming movie is called “The Switch.” It’s a sperm-donor comedy starring her and the hilarious & handsome Jason Bateman. After that, she’s onto what I’m sure will be another huge hit, with a film called “Just Go With It,” alongside Adam Sandler and Nicole Kidman. This woman is not slowing down anytime soon. PS: I’ve always been on Team Aniston. :)
What a roller-coaster year it’s been for Sandra Bullock who won her first Oscar only to find out her husband had been cheating on her, only to find that the world had her back and she would rise above it all a stronger & wealthier woman.
Well, after her two successful films this year, The Proposal and The Blind Side, Bullock is raking it in more than any other Hollywood actress. Between June 2009 and June 2010, Sandra Bullock tops Forbes top female earners, garnering a whopping $56 million, AKA more than the lottery. She beat out Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon who both made approximately $32 million, Jennifer Aniston at $27 million, and Sarah Jessica Parker with $25 million.
How does Forbes figure all of this out? They talk to agents, managers, producers and lawyers. They also take into account the dough that stars may or may not get from perfume or clothing lines, as well as from ad campaigns.
Let me preface this review by saying I’m a sucker for romantic-comedies and they have to be excruciatingly bad for me to not like them. Two come to mind immediately, “Must Love Dogs” starring Diane Lane and “The Wedding Date” with Debra Messing. God those movies sucked hardcore. While a majority of the reviews have not been the most favorable for “The Bounty Hunter”, I’m going to against the grain and state, “I liked it”.
Was it Masterpiece Theater? Hell to the no, it’s starring Jennifer Aniston. But then again, just a few years ago, you could’ve inserted Sandra Bullock in lieu of Aniston in the same context, and now you have to add the adjective Oscar winner in front of Bullock’s name. When it comes to most rom-coms, you have to throw common logic out the window and take it for what it is. Having said that, I quite enjoyed it and thought it was perfect for my little date night with Brian. Check after the jump to see what I liked and disliked about the movie.
Wow, looks like Kristin Cavallari is EXACTLY the same in “real life” as she is on the “fake real life.” Rumors have just surfaced that Kristin has been “dating” John Mayer for a couple years now, meaning that he was totally doing her while dating both Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston. Uh oh. Not good for John. Apparently, they were so secretive about it, that they were “doing it” at a mutual friend of theirs in the Hollywood Hills. They didn’t want to take it public because allegedly Kristen didn’t want to be added to his list of conquests (A-List Jennifer Aniston to D-List Kristin Cavallari). Now they are considering going public. Hmm. That doesn’t sound right.
In Laguna Beach, Kristin was notorious for sleeping with whomever she wanted – no man was hands off for her. Now, as she moves into The Hills, she’s onto Audrina’s ex, Justin Bobby, as they’ve shown them making out in the previews and Audrina & Kristen in some heated
disgust-shuns discussions. In the preview, Audrina in reference to Kristin says, “She’s a maneater, she’s a boyfriend stealer….” Well, she’s bang on there.
Correct me if I’m wrong but the fun with The Hills is that, more or less, the characters keep their “real” private lives totally secret so that people can “pretend” that what is going on on television is “real.” As the lead in the show, Lauren Conrad managed to do so successfully for years. Now, Kristin takes over and she can’t even manage to keep a lid on her maneating ways long enough for her Hills season premiere? Disappointing. I’m sure producers are not pleased with this information going public.
McAfee-Antivrus Software has once again named the most dangerous celebrity searches online for their annual list. Cybercriminals often target gossip mongers looking for the latest facts or fiction regarding their favorite celebrities. Just like that one night stand you pick up at the club in the wee hours of the morning, googling certain celebrities will sometimes leave you a parting gift you weren’t looking for- a big ol’ virus. According to this year’s list, Jessica Biel tops the list and is considered the most dangerous celebrity to search for. Searching for terms like “Jessica Biel wallpapers”, “Jessica Biel”, Jessica Biel downloads”, “Jessica Biel screensavers” or “Jessica Biel photos” increases your chances of receiving a virus. In fact, by clicking on some of the results, you increase your chances to 1 in 5 of receiving some sort of spyware, adware, spam, viruses and other unwanted goodies for your computer. Jessica Biel’s high profile romance with Justin Timberlake and overall hotness has skyrocketed her to top of the list ad bumped golden-boy Brad Pitt from the number one spot.
