Before I begin, I just wanted to preface this post by saying it’s bit self-indulgent. That said, the aim of our Behind The Cast posts are to give you a better insight to who we are. True? Anyhoo, I just wanted to quickly chat about one of our favorite pastimes while getting ready for a night out on the town.
Usually, Brian and my home is the meeting place before we head out. Most of our friends live nearby and we have a bigger place so it makes sense. Plus we have all the board games, karaoke, a hot tub, booze and most importantly an Apple TV. Combined with the brilliant VEVO app, the Apple TV is my favorite thing in the world. Friends come over all the time and play me their favorite new tracks by simply logging on to our Wi-Fi and playing it on our sound system. With the VEVO app, we can play all our current music video obsessions and our favorite oldies which brings me to this post.
Nothing gets a roomful of homos screaming more than playing music videos from our favorite DIVAS. Yes, we’re a gay cliche. However, we also listen to folk music, old school grunge, rock and hip-hop but there’s something about the ladies that gets us all fired up. I decided to share some of the music videos that seem to get the most airplay at our house while enjoying cocktails. I purposefully left out clips from 2012 since that would make this post extremely long. Without further delay, check out a few oldies and relatively-recent clips we love watching while a tad intoxicated.
So, Songza rules. Especially at work right now, I’m not sure how I lived without it. Even yesterday I was cleaning up the house feeling pretty low energy and Songza all of a sudden lifted my mood, because, well, you tell it how you’re feeling. What?
This music app is a wide data base of songs trying to fine tailor to how you’re feeling or what you’re doing, and away it goes. You can either access it from songza.com on your computer, or listen to it through your WiFi on the app on your phone.
Right now I’m at work and decided I needed something other than the regular radio. So on goes my Songza app, and here’s the screen that comes up…
There are so many great iPhone Apps these days. The following list is made up of five apps that I recommend downloading and information on each. Feel free to share your current favorite apps in the comments!
Most weather apps are clunky and very technical looking. Very few are minimally and beautifully designed like WTHR.
Stop wasting time staring at weather radars and atmospheric pressure readings, you’re not an airline pilot…WTHR™ lets you spend more time enjoying the weather…then watching it.
*Built on Dieter Rams’ 10 principles of design, WTHR™ is a weather utility app that will complement your life, not complicate it.
Features Include:
- Current Local Weather
- 7-Day Forecast
- Fahrenheit & Celsius options
- A Global Geo-location Weather API
- Intuitive Weather Interface
- A ‘carpe diem’ swag

As if Ryan Seacrest didn’t have enough things on his plate. Along with hosting “American Idol” and his daily radio show, he’s a very busy producer. He’s given television audiences all those annoying Kardashian reality shows. Damn you Seacrest. And don’t forget “dating” Julianne Hough. Faking a relationship isn’t a walk in the park, you know. LOL.
The 37-year-old is working with Sony Pictures Television and Embassy Row to develop a brand new game show. After a multiple bidding war, CBS beat out the other networks for the right to air Seacrest’s new offering. Even though he’s producing it, word has it he won’t have an on-air presence. Perhaps, he can hold a reality competition to find a host for the game show. Imagine the cheesy challenges. OMG. That’s brilliant. A production company needs to hire me immediately to develop shows ;)

My latest addiction is the ‘Draw Something‘ iPhone app. I only downloaded it a few days ago and I’m completely hooked. Seriously, walking home from work while drawing on my iPhone and hoping that I won’t run into people… or a telephone pole.
Imagine my surprise when last night I learned that the creator of the app (Charles Forman – who a few weeks ago only had $1700 in the bank) is now apparently over $22 million richer after selling OMGPOP, the game studio he founded that is behind the addictive app. OMGPOP was purchased for $180 million by Zynga.
ONYD posted some shirtless pictures of Forman, along with some homoerotic pictures of him and his friend David Karp of Tumblr fame. Check them out below.

There’s Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, LinkIn, Pinterest, and of course Instagram. How the hell can we keep up with all of these social networks and apps?
I will fully admit that I recently became hooked on Instagram. I had the photo app on my iPhone forever, but only recently did I realize that it was actually a social network of sorts. People can like your picture, leave comments, become your friend… you know, the usual. What makes Instagram appealing is that it allows you to apply a filter to your picture from the several that are provided so that your usual “average” photo looks super artsy and professional.
This music video pokes fun at everything that is Instagram and I love it. “Take a photo of your breakfast, a picture of your mom. Then add your f*cking filter so your photo is the bomb.” LOL. Props to Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy, the starts of the video, for being on top of this trend and calling everyone out (including themselves) for the ridiculousness that is world of Instagram.
If there’s one thing I hate it’s either forgetting my points card or just having to bring so many different cards with me. Enter CardStar, you scan the barcode or enter the number of your points cards and it stores it on your phone with the barcode that can be scanned right from your smartphone. Amazing!

Gay mobile hookup App, Grindr now has over two million users in 192 countries. With its expansion from iPhone to also include Android, iPad and BlackBerry, as well as the Grindr Xtra, these successes have helped to make Grindr a leader in this new mobile hookup industry.
So for the cities that have the most users, do you think it’s just because they have the most population? Probably. But perhaps they may also be hornier and sexually promiscuous, and/or just more tech-savvy and more into their phone apps. It could also just be a bit of the social scene culture, where one isn’t as likely to go up to someone and ask for their number anymore, and would much rather chat through a device when once they know how many feet away the target is. Either way, the numbers don’t lie and below we have listed the top 10 cities in the world for Grindr.
