On Sundays, we try to give more insight of us behind the scenes. Try being the operative word, since I just looked back and it’s been awhile since I wrote something about the cast. My bad. Today, I wanted to put the spotlight on a friend of many of us on the cast.
Meet Anna Thorsen. She’s the Editor-in-Chief of The Social-Life.com. Recently, she launched a new venture called by post street. It’s a limited edition t-shirt and music company which features fashion icons and house & hip hop deejays. The project is a collaboration between Anna and Vancouver street artist, Kat Thorsen (her mom). How adorable is that, right?
by post street held their launch party last weekend at 1181- one of our favorite YVR hangs. Anna is sandwiched between some of the lounge’s hot bar staff. Side note: Carson, to her left, is one of my besties ;) The one on the far right is DJ Adam Dreaddy whom we’ve featured on the site before. He provided wicked tunes throughout the day.
During the event, by post street debuted their first limited run tees, Collaboration 1 [KAR]. A great time was had by all. It was one of the best #sundayfundays I’ve had in a while. Collaborations will be released monthly and will feature podcasts made exclusively by the “DJs-of-the-month” to download for free. 3% of by post street’s net-monthly profits will be donated to Vancouver Friends For Life. Check out the tees below, along with a picture of my friends and myself at the event.
Sundays here at Homorazzi.com are typically the day we try to give insight to our personal lives. Admittedly, I’m not as forthcoming with my life as say Patrick or Tyrell, but I’m going to make a concerted effort to change that. Think of today as a pre-New Years resolution. Moving forward on Sundays, I’m going to talk more about my life. For the remainder of this year, I’ll be recapping memorable moments from 2011. Interspersed with all my personal ramblings, I’m also going to introduce you to a few of my very talented friends. Being the social butterfly and traveler that I am, I’ve met some pretty amazing people over the years. I thought today would be the perfect day to start my Homorazzi Friends series.
This past Friday, a friend of mine held a viewing party for his debut on national television. Mark Tagulao a confectionery master, unbeknownst to me, made it on “Recipes To Riches“, a competitive reality series, on The Food Network (Canada) hosted by that tasty former Bachelor Jesse Palmer. There, Canadian home cooks battle to have their original recipes become a President’s Choice product and sold at grocery stores across the nation. Each week a different trio of cooks compete in a specific category for a prize of $25,000 and also become eligible to win the grand prize of $250,000.
My friend Mark competed in the “Frozen Treats” episode. He created a delicious ice cream cake with green and earl grey tea which he called “Teopolitan Ice Cream Cake“. Don’t you just love the play-on words with Neopolitan ice cream? For the viewing party, Mark along with one of his competitors made us a batch of their dessert seen in the episode. Truly awesome to taste their delectable treats. Obviously, I’m a little biased to Mark since he’s my friend, but his was truly delicious. I’m not going to spoil the episode results for you, but I’ve embedded the episode below just in case you wanted to watch it.
