Harry Potter no more. Daniel Radcliffe trades his Hogwarts schoolboy uniform and signature glasses for Gucci, Hermes and other designer threads for his new photo spread snapped by Kai Z Feng for OUT magazine. Someone’s gone all high-fashion on us.
In addition to showing off his couture side, the 23-year-old actor talks about life after Harry Potter. Specifically, his much-buzzed about performance in Kill Your Darlings. Ever since the film about gay writer Allen Ginsberg debuted at Sundance, conversation has been all about the explicit gay love scenes. Here’s what Radcliffe told OUT regarding all the controversy.
“You never see a gay actor getting asked what it’s like to play straight — to my knowledge, at least, there is no difference in how heterosexual and homosexual people fall in love.” – Daniel Radcliffe
One of the highlights from the interview include talk between director John Krokidas and his boyfriend. Krokidas was worried that Radcliffe wasn’t Jewish (down there), but his BF informed him that, “Of course he’s Jewish — everyone in the world knows that. Didn’t you see the shots from Equus? He’s only British from the waist up.” LOL. Love it. Check out a couple of photos and other quotes from his interview below.
Hot off the heels of my interview with the lovely and talented Katie Findlay from The Carrie Diaries comes the movie trailer for “The Philosophers.” Katie mentioned the movie in our interview together and now that I’ve seen the trailer for it I’m waiting with bated breathe until it’s release. As for a release date I couldn’t track down any solid day other that hopefully soon in 2013.
The film boasts quite the array of actors. Along side Katie we have James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas, Hitchcock), Daryl Sabara who you might recognize as Juni from the Spy Kids movies, George Blagden from the recent big screen adaptation of Les Misérables, Harry Potter alum Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) as well as Freddie Stroma (Cormac McLaggen) who is also know as the drool worthy radio DJ Luke from Pitch Perfect, and Jacob Artist (the devilishly good looking Jake Puckerman on Glee).
Find out what the film is about and check out the newly released trailer below.
It’s my last Who’d You Rather before the holidays. I can’t believe a year flew by so quickly, can you? We’ve compared a lot of musicians, actors and models every Wednesday of 2011 and it’s been fun. Today is no exception as I bring you the battle of Radcliffe VS Wood. Both of these men have starred in a magical film series’ and both are incredibly sexy. Let’s take a closer look.
Daniel Radcliffe was only 11-years-old when he first burst onto the silver screen portraying the beloved character of Harry Potter. The world watched as Daniel grew up before our eyes evolving into the sexy, young man he is today. Now, he has created a successful theater and Broadway career as well as starring in a new thrilling film, The Woman In Black. Oh, I can’t leave out that Entertainment Weekly named him the 2011 Entertainer of the Year.
Elijah Wood is keeping busy himself. While he may not have won any titles for 2011, he’s still working hard for Peter Jackson reprising his role as Frodo Baggins for the upcoming two Hobbit films. As you remember, Elijah played the role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy which rocketed him into superstardom. Elijah is also an active voice artist, giving life to characters in Happy Feet and 9. He was also nominated for a Satellite Award for his FX show, Wilfred.
Check out the photo evidence from both men and vote below on Who’d You Rather.
The end of 2011 is near which brings on year end lists, new calendars and people of the year. The newest addition to the list of honorees is Daniel Radcliffe who has received Entertainment Weekly’s prestiges Entertainer of the Year award for 2011.
Let’s be honest, Daniel had quite the year. Let us first begin with Harry Potter shall we? This summer, the conclusion to the book series turned films grossed over one billion dollars at the box office breaking all kinds of records worldwide. The world literally watched Daniel grow up over the years and fans alike were sad to say goodbye to their beloved Harry Potter. Aside from that huge achievement, Daniel is a esteemed stage actor as well.
Daniel received a ton of attention when he went full frontal for his role in Equus. But his big Broadway debut came when he joined the cast of How To Succeed In Business… in the role of J. Pierrepont Finch. This year, he won two Broadway.com Audience Awards and two Teen Choice Awards. He’s even getting a head start on 2012 when the release of his highly anticipated thriller film The Woman In Black hits theaters February 3.
There is no doubt that Daniel deserves Entertainer of the Year but there was obviously some heavy competition from a few other noteworthy entertainers. Let’s take a look some others who were close to the top of the list.
We are just starting November but I know that the Christmas lists and holiday shopping have begun. While some of you may wait until Black Friday to get started, I know there are a few of you who are already on top of your Christmas gifting. This week, the new releases are a little weak but the featured release is sure to be on a lot of wish lists this year. Rounding off the Harry Potter franchise is the release of the Blu-ray and DVD of The Deathly Hallows Part 2. Check out a quick synopsis below.
In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.
Now, you may have to rush out to make sure you get your copy of this before they all disappear. As fellow writer Kyle has mentioned, all of the Harry Potter movies will be off the shelves soon. So, if you have a die hard collector or fan that you have to shop for this holiday season, I suggest you get on that ASAP. Check out some more new releases below including a movie based a novel that I am looking very forward to checking out! It’s called Atlas Shrugged and the once “futuristic” outlook on the world is coming a little closer than we think. Check it out.
As if ending the series wasn’t a big enough blow for all of us, Warner Bros. just announced that on Dec. 29 they will cease all shipment of all Harry Potter films. Yes, you read that right – once stores sell out of their copies of HP 1-7 (including the box sets), they will NOT be replaced!
In a move much like their venture into theme parks, Warner Bros. is mimicking Disney by periodically rereleasing all of the films as a strategy for more money down the road. Personally, I think the $12.1 billion gross so far would be enough to keep the company happy, but I guess I’m wrong.
Last night, we were treated to the 2011 Teen Choice Awards hosted by The Big Bang Theory’s resident hottie Kaley Cuoco. The kick off the night, all of the Kardashians including Kylie and Kendall Jenner introduce the night’s DJ, will.i.am who plays what I am assuming is a track from his upcoming album. The song is called Party Animal and it’s kind of only medium. The best part was when it transitioned into Party Rock Anthem. What made the opening performance so random were the groups of fans bouncing around on stage. Super distracting.
Once Kaley hits the stage, the show continues on almost as awkwardly as it began as she cruises the crowd to find the smartest teen. She first stops on Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey and then finally ends on a semi-unsuspecting teen girl who says her favorite show is Make It or Break It instead of The Big Bang Theory. Thankfully, the awards begin and we are saved from the awkward writing and hosting from Ms. Cuoco. Check out the night’s winners and musical performance videos below.
Box Officivus Maximus. I’m sure that’s the spell cast by J.K. Rowling to beat the mighty Jedi Force. Harry, Hermoine, Ron and the gang have officially become the top-grossing film franchise in domestic box office history. As of Wednesday, the magical franchise’s cumulative $2.223 billion edged out the Star Wars’ franchise’ $2.217 total.
Sure, when you factor in inflation, Luke Skywalker and gang have the Hogwarts crew down beat with over twice as many admission tickets sold. To boot, Harry Potter has eight films adding to its total, while Star Wars only has six flicks. Regardless of all the factors, it’s an impressive feat by both parties. They’re the only two franchises to pass the $2 billion mark. The next two franchises on pace to cross the milestone mark are James Bond and Batman with $1.6 billion and $1.5 billion respectively.
