After several teaser videos, we finally have our first full-length movie trailer for The Canyons. The erotic thriller is a contemporary L.A. noir about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20′s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence. Filmed for only $250,000, the film was picked up by IFC Films and scheduled to hit theaters next month. The neo-noir thriller stars Nolan Gerard Funk, porn star James Deen and none other than Lindsay Lohan.
Speaking of 27-year-old trainwreck, she’s reportedly doing quite well in rehab. With her court-ordered 90 day treatment almost up, doctors at Cliffside Malibu are urging her to extend it by 30 days. Problem is, Lohan has to be in Venice for the film’s premiere next month. Hopefully, she picks her long-term health over a premiere. Fingers crossed that she also follows her doctors’ advice not to live with her mom after her rehab stint is over. Dina is such an enabler. Check out The Canyons trailer below.
Yes and no. The 23-year-old Brit did film a scene as Christian Grey, but he wasn’t auditioning for the coveted role. Instead it was a screen test for Gus Van Sant (Milk & Good Will Hunting). According to The Wrap, Van Sant filmed a scene in a bid to direct the film adaptation of E L James’ best-selling erotic novel.
The scene he selected was a steamy one. It involved Pettyfer’s kinky billionaire character taking Anastasia Steele’s virginity. What I would give to take a sneak peek at that video. You know 100% Pettyfer was most likely butt naked in it. And if you saw Magic Mike, he certainly has a nice ass.
Whether Van Sant snags the directing gig or not, it gives a sense of what kind of director Universal is looking for. Even though they forked over $3 million for the movie rights, no director or stars are attached to the highly-anticipated project. Though numerous names have been dropped.
Pettyfer wouldn’t be my first pick to play the womanizer Christian Grey. I much prefer Stephen Amell (Arrow), who reportedly had a meeting about the role. That said, Alex has that cocky attitude that’s kinda sexy. Since we probably will never see his Gus Van Sant-directed clip, I thought I’d share my favorite scene from Magic Mike. Check it out below.
Jeff Hephner (with whom I work on Hellcats with) has had a rough pilot season this year. He originally booked a role in NBC’s drama pilot Playboy. However, after a table read with the network, the deal was pulled right from under him and he was replaced with Eddie Cibrian. As they say on Full House, how rude!.
Have no fear Jeff Hephner fans, a true talent will always find his spotlight. Jeff has signed on to do more than a pilot with network Starz. He will join Kelsey Grammer on an eight-episode series titled Boss. Coincidentally, this show will also be based and filmed in Chicago (just like Playboy).
The show is written by Farhad Safinia and directed by Gus Van Sant. The concept of the show is that Kane (played by Grammer) is the mayor of Chicago and is diagnosed with a degenerative mental condition that only he and his doctor know about. Jeff will play the role of the state treasurer who is a Chicago native, handsome and soon to be a powerful player in the Chicago political scene.
Jumping on the “No Photoshopping” popularity wave, Madonna posed for a series of pictures for Interview Magazine that harken back to her “Like A Virgin” days. The Material Girl once again sports lacy attire, religious symbols and thick heavy eyebrows as an homage to her former iconic self. Madge posed for Marcus Piggott and Mert Alas for this truly stunning group of photos. Sure there was no photoshopping used to perk her up, but i’m certain soft-lighting experts were on hand to show Madonna in the “best light”.
For the interview portion, the Material Girl chatted with director Gus Van Sant. The two discussed everything from her retirement from music to her refocusing on her “acting” career to Sean Penn and everything in between.
