Hot off their win for Best Comedy at the Golden Globes, the Glee producers aren’t slowing down. In fact, they’re ramping it up. Though not officially confirmed as of press time, both Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris) and J-LO are rumored to be guest starring on Fox’s breakout hit.
After the show’s big win, “Glee” creator/producer Ryan Murphy spoke with the press about his woo-ing of the singer/actress/perfume pimp. He mentioned he sent over a formal offer to the Bronx beauty to guest star in one of the back nine episodes. It’s the perfect vehicle for her since the show is fusion of singing and acting- just like Lopez’s career. Here’s a quote from the press room.
“I have a meeting with Jennifer Lopez in a couple weeks,” Murphy said Sunday night. “She wants to come on. We want her to be a cafeteria lady.”
Can’t you just picture Jenny sporting a fishnet hair cap while slinging some mystery meat. Then all of a sudden she breaks out into song about throwing on her Louboutins- PRICELESS. Hopefully, the singer known for her diva antics, is a good sport and goes balls out and commits to the gig.
Sources say the deal for Neil Patrick Harris to strut his stuff on the show is much closer than that of the Lopez deal. Murphy specifically created a role for the “How I Met Your Mother” star. His character is said to appear on the Josh Whedon directed episode scheduled to air during May sweeps. Both HIMYM and Glee are produced by 20th Century Fox, but broadcast on two different networks. This is the one possible snag/obstacle that could prevent this from happening. CBS has to give the final OK to let one of their MVP stars appear for a competing network. Hopefully CBS realizes the more exposure NPH receives, the more beneficial it could be for their show.

It’s a match made in Xanadu heaven. Glee producer, Ryan Murphy, unveiled the Grease’s stars upcoming guest spot to E! Online. When Glee returns in April from it’s mid-season hiatus, Olivia will be track suiting it up with Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester. Though no official word was released on what Olivia’s role will be, Murphy did indicate that Newton-John will be dusting off her 80s headbands to perform her 1981 hit, “Let’s Get Physical” with Lynch.
I was already dying without my weekly Glee fix and now with this latest news, I’m hoping April arrives even faster. With Idina Menzel also joining the cast when Glee returns, the second half of the season is shaping up to be better than the first part. Though producers and Fox have stated Menzel’s role will be Vocal Adrenaline’s coach, I’m cautiously optimistic that she’ll end up being Rachel Berry’s biological mother. During the pilot episode, it was revealed that Berry’s character had two gay dads and was conceived via a sperm mash-up from the two combined with an egg.
It would be a CRIME on the producer’s behalf to not reference the resemblance between the two Broadway divas. This type of casting perfection comes along once in a blue moon. Check out the side-by-side comparisons between the two talented brunette songstresses.

Sectionals finally arrived, and boy… it didn’t disappoint. The episode was filled with great performances, heart-breaking moments and a lot of hilarious one-liners. Having the episode this amazing was bitter sweet because we’ll have to wait til mid-April to get a brand new episode.
The episode began with a cleverly shot exchange between most of the Glee Club members as they discussed how to prevent Rachel from spilling the beans to Finn about not being Quinn’s baby-daddy. Every second of that minute long sequence was pure brilliance. This and so many of the show’s fall storylines were resolved in tonight’s show. This latest TV trend of having “fall finales” is pretty awesome. It’s like you get two seasons for the price of one without having to wait through summer re-runs. This entire week, I’ve been blown away with some great finales from a few the shows I follow- Desperate Housewives; 90210; and Melrose Place all delivered great shows to tie us over til the new year.
Tonight’s Glee episode certainly joined that list. Without spoiling the show too much, McKinley High’s success in Sectionals was a forgone conclusion but watching it come to fruition was still satisfying. Even the episode ending kiss with Will and Emma was expected, but it still managed to make me go “aw schucks” as he ran towards her in slow-motion. Why does everything look better and seem more emotional when slowed down? Overall, kudos to all the writers and actors for making my hump days this fall that much more enjoyable. You certainly will be missed over the next few months.
Wow, did a lot ever happen in tonight’s episode. Will finally found about Terri’s faux pregnancy, Emma and Tanaka set a wedding date, Sue finally destroys Glee Club… well, until Quinn blackmails her. God, I loved Quinn in this episode. I love bitchy girls, but I love them even more when they know the art of blackmailing.
With all this soap opera dramz going on, the producers needed some comedic gags to lighten up the mood in between. The picture montage showing all the various clubs Rachel joined was sheer genius. The Mock United Nations Club and Muslim Students Club were my two favorite. Another montage that almost had me choking on my food (we eat dinner while watching TV), was when Rachel was on a campaign to persuade someone to be a co-captain. Once again, my girl Brittany stole the scene with her intellectual non-prowess.
Wow, what a hair-raising show this week- literally. The aptly-titled eleventh episode, “Hairography” was all about hair, hair, hair with a touch of baby drama and a dash of unrequited love. As an added bonus, we were given instructions by my girl, Brittany, on how to unleash your cool epileptic seizures to produce music video-worth hair tossing. WERK.
The two standout performances for me this week were hands down- “Bootylicious” and “Imagine”. While one number had me laughing and groovin’, the other had me choking up. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED all the slo-mo’d hair tossing portions from the Destiny Child-inspired production. Even better were the three girls who sashayed down as their names were called out. Excuse the spelling but I believe they were JL, Shadonta and Afaysia. Absolutely BRILL.
There aren’t many shows out there that have you howling out in laughter one second, then literally a few seconds later, experiencing emotions on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. After McKinley High’s wig-licious “Crazy In Love / Hair” mashup, the Haverock Deaf Choir gave us an amazing rendition of the John Lennon classic, “Imagine”. When the lead-signer started signing, I was immediately captured. But when Mercedes began singing along, the mist began to form around my eyes. The feelings only magnified more when the rest of Glee joined in. Bravo, producers. Bravo.
Coming off such a spectacular episode last week, I was wondering if Glee could keep it up. Even though it was an entertaining episode, it wasn’t a homerun like last week’s masterpiece. It started off amazingly with the “Endless Love” duet and the montage of the Glee Club picking duet partners, but then kinda fell flat after that. I really wish they showcased a few of the duos like Kurt & Finn, Mercedes & Puck, and Tina and “other Asian”. Seriously, I want to hear what Brittany, Mark and “other Asian” sound like.
Even though I wasn’t ga-ga over this episode like last, there were still moments that were praiseworthy. Kurt’s obsession with Finn was a definite highlight for me. During the Glee Club’s performance of “Lean on Me”, Kurt’s actions had me in stitches. It was friggin’ hilarious when Kurt motioned a suggestive phone call for Finn to call him when he needed a shoulder to lean on. Speaking of Finn, his singing to Quinn’s unborn baby’s sonogram was comical genius. It was only made funnier, when his Mom caught him in this embarrassing act.
The last thing I want to make note of was the introduction of Suzie Pepper. I love the fact there’s another girl at Mckinley High crazier than Rachel Berry. Producers, take note and add this girl on recurring status. Adding “Pepper” always spices things up, doesn’t it?
While I admit the past two Wednesday night’s have been nice not having to transcribe the best quotes, I definitely missed my weekly fix of biting insults and musical numbers. Thankfully, the World Series are done and over (congrats Yankees) and we can finally get back to normally scheduled programming. I’m not sure if it was the absence that made the heart grow fonder, that made me think this was best episode of the year or if it was just THAT GOOD- I think the latter.
I don’t want to seem over-emotional, but this episode had me misty in a couple of spots and almost pushed me to turn on the full waterworks during one particular scene. This episode, titled “Wheels” had it all- great musical numbers, touching moments, hilarious insults, and lots of Kurt & Puck. The writing was so spot on, it made everyone extremely likable- I was even warming up to Quinn.
This episode was all about the warm fuzzies. Besides the fact the episode revolved around Artie’s handicapable needs and his crush on Tina, there were three other distinct heart-warming moments that got to me. The first was between Quinn and Puck’s scene where they attempted to make cupcakes. For weeks, I found Quinn’s character the most annoying and least developed. Tonight that sort of changed for me. At one point when she finally let her guard down, you could see she really likes Puck and wants to be with him. At first I was all about Puck and Rachel becoming a couple but now I find myself on Team Quinuck.
It’s 4:00am and I just finished watching this week’s episode of Glee. Currently, Brian and I are in the middle of a move, so I been busy balancing the move to the new place and other obligations including the site. Keeping that in mind, this week’s post will be relatively brief- papa needs to go to sleep. The episode was all about making choices and settling. Glee Club vs Football, Coach Tanaka vs Will Schuester, Quinn vs Rachel, Finn vs Puck, Big Gulp vs Super Big Gulp. This week had some great comedic moments and as usual, great musical numbers. It all left me thirsting for more. Where’s a grape Big Gulp when you need one.
Here is a quick summary of my favorite moments of the night:
Kurt during “Bust A Move”: Though our resident gay wasn’t singing during this number. Every time he was within eye’s shot of the camera, he had me laughing out loud. Whether it was his facial reaction when Will was bumpin’ on him or when the camera panned on him judging the rest of Glee Club, Kurt stole the show. But by far the best moment was when he was shaking a tambourine (not his ass but a real one) while going down. BRILL. On a side note, I kick ass whenever I rap this song on Xbox’s LIPS. Well that is whenever I don’t compete against Landon.
Looks like Rachel Berry is getting a male counterpart. Glee co-creator, Ryan Murphy announced today Jonathan Groff will be joining the cast for a five to six episode story arc later this season. Groff will be playing the lead male vocalist of Vocal Adrenaline (McKinley High’s Glee Club’s main competition). Vocal Adrenaline has already performed Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab” and Duffy’s “Mercy” on the show.
The Pennsylvanian native, got his start on ABC’s soap, One Life to Live, and most recently starred in Ang Lee’s “Taking Woodstock”. In 2007, he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor. Funny enough, it was his role as Melchior Gabor from “Spring Awakening” where he first met Lea Michele. Looks like the two Broadway stars will be working again real soon- Groff’s character will serve as a potential love interest for Michele’s Rachel Berry. Can’t you just picture the duets now? Ryan Murphy stated Groff’s character will be a “MIVA”, a male diva.
