The other day I shared all the songs from “Glee’s” upcoming prom episode, “Prom-a-saurus“. Today, I have another treat for you. And if you’re a fan of One Direction, you’re in for a really big dino-sized treat. Five of the New Direction boys tackle the UK boy band’s infectious hit “What Makes You Beautiful“. Infectious doesn’t even begin to describe it. I can’t get enough of the addictive pop track.
Along with Artie, Sam, Mike, Rory and Joe’s performance, the embedded clip brings up a couple of questions. What’s the reason Brittany banned hair gel from the senior prom? Why does Blaine look so terrified? Lastly, what almost prevented Rachel and Finn from attending the party? I guess we’ll have to wait til Tuesday’s episode to have those questions answered.
After watching the clip, be sure to check out the behind the scenes video as well. The five members of McKinley High’s faux One Direction cover band joke about their group dynamic. Can you figure out which of the boys are the “damaged one” and “stylish one“? Watch the clip afterward and find out.
Ain’t no party, like a Brittany S. Pearce party. Or in this case a prom. McKinley High’s resident dim-witted blond organizes the school’s senior prom. Instead of lame themes like “Under The Sea” or “Enchanted Forest”, the senior class president decides to go with a dinosaur theme. Naturally, of course. Ergo, the episode’s title, “Prom-a-saurus“.
Given the title, Ke$ha’s “Dinosaur” is a natural fit and gets the New Directions treatment. Brittany herself covers the track. Other artists featured in 19th episode of the third season are, Selena Gomez & The Scene, One Direction, Fergie and 80s group Berlin. Overall, it’s a good mix of sappy love songs and catchy pop songs, especially One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful“. Hate to admit it, but I’m addicted to that track and the UK boy band. Listen to all the tracks below before FOX takes them all down.
Last year, New Directions made it all the way to Nationals in New York City. The McKinley High kids have once again qualified to compete with the best of the best and hoping to take the prize this year. Being that this is the last chance for the seniors like Rachel, Kurt, Mercedes and company, I fully anticipate them finally being victorious. Standing in their way on the judging panel are three celebrity judges.
Lindsay Lohan’s appearance on “Glee” was revealed weeks ago, but her co-judges haven’t until now. Lohan along with these two guest stars have started filming their scenes for the two-hour Nationals episode airing on May 15th. LiLo is reportedly playing a heightened version of herself with some really funny moments including complaining about not having one of those cool red swivel chairs from “The Voice“. I don’t blame her, I totally want one of those chairs in my living room. Continue reading to find out who’s joining her in the episode.
A few days ago Fox generously released the full-length clip of Mercedes, Santana, Kurt and Rachel’s amazing a capella version of “How Will I Know“. After hearing that rousing rendition of the Whitney Houston classic, I couldn’t wait to hear what other songs “Glee” had in store for us on Tuesday’s Whitney-centric episode. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait til then to hear all of them. All seven songs were released at hour long intervals yesterday on www.whitneyhouston.com. Praise Jesus.
While all weren’t as outstanding as the brilliant arrangement of “How Will I Know”, there are a few standouts. Personally, I love the gang’s cover of “My Love Is Your Love“. They all sound great on the track and do it justice. Another surprise was Quinn and newbie Sam Larsen’s duet on my favorite Whitney ballad, “Saving All My Love For You“. By far the most disappointing for me was Santana and Brittany singing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)“. Maybe, it’ll translate better when I see the video performance instead of just hearing the vocals. Listen to all the tracks below and be sure to cast your vote on your favorite.
We heard a glimpse of this performance during the previews for “Glee’s” next episode and today we have it in full. The second I heard the stripped down arrangement of this Whitney Houston classic, I instantly got “goosies“. Sorry J. Lo, but I just stole your ridiculous line. Amber Riley, Lea Michele, Naya Rivera and Chris Colfer deliver a thoroughly moving and chilling a cappella rendition of “How Will I Know”. Before Fox airs the Houston tribute episode, titled “Dance With Somebody“, catch the four New Direction singers do Whitney proud below. If you don’t feel anything, you’re truly dead inside. I kid, but you get what I mean.
Ryan Murphy previously stated the Whitney-centric episode will be less of a tribute and more of a “lesson in goodbyes“. If this clip is an indication of the direction of the episode, I’m keeping a box of Kleenex handy. I already found myself getting a little misty watching this. The clip stars off with the gang hanging out near their lockers. Not much more is revealed on what context this performance has on the episode storyline. I just hopes it leads to a happy ending for Mercedes and Sam.
With “Glee” on hiatus for the past several weeks, I was looking forward to its return tonight with Matt Bomer appearing as Blaine’s older brother. Love Bomer and think he’s fine as shizz, but now that Fox has released the first images from the upcoming Whitney Houston show, I’m like Matt who. Sadly though, I have wait til April 24 when the tribute episode, titled “Dance With Somebody“, airs. BOO. Oh well, hopefully “Glee” will make it up to me by giving me a couple of shirtless scenes of Bomer tonight ;)
As you can see in the picture above, one song that is definitely going to be included in the Whitney-centric episode will be “How I Will I Know“. With those 80s hair bows and glittery sliver dress, what else can it be. Now the question remains, what other songs will appear on the show? Ryan Murphy previously mentioned that eight Houston songs were planned for the tribute which will be a “lesson in how to say goodbye.”
When news first broke out, I made a couple of predictions. I thought Blaine and Kurt could duet on “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” since rumor has it Klaine are dunzo. Also, I thought and secretly hoped the girls would belt out “I’m Every Woman” and then a group number by New Directions on “I Wanna Dance With Somebody“. Given the episode title refers to the latter track, it appears to be a solid bet for that pop track’s inclusion.
School is about to come to a close for high school students across the country. With that comes the ritual of receiving a year book to document all the highs and low of the school year. Why should it be any different for the kids over at McKinley High. Given that Kurt, Rachel, Finn and a few others are graduating this year, it’s only fitting that the producers create the Official William McKinley High School Yearbook to send these seniors off in style. H.A.G.S. Bitches!!!
Written by the show’s gossip columnist, Jacob Ben Israel bestows “Most Likely To” awards to various members of the Glee Club. Who’ll be pulled over for riding a Segway, perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, and to design his own brand of jeans? You can find out when the actual book becomes available in stores on May 1st. In the meantime, get a glimpse of some of the fun stuff in the book including an official hook-up chart. You can almost hear Vitamin C’s “Graduation (Friends Forever)” track playing in the background.
You would think Matt Bomer’s upcoming guest appearance on “Glee” is like the second coming of Jesus, considering the number of posts we write about it. He does have that silky dark hair though. LOL. To be fair, it’s just not Bomer I’m excited about, but the fact we get eight straight new episodes of the Fox musical when it returns. Plus, like most of you, I’m curious to know if the writers killed of Quinn.
Up to this point, we’ve seen backstage footage of Matt Bomer and even seen one of his duets with Darren Criss. The two cover Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know“. Given that the episode is titled “Big Brother“, we simply can’t be treated to just one duet. It is Matt Bomer after all. The one I’ve been looking forward to hearing the most since I first learned about it, is the Duran Duran mashup. After hearing it, I have to say it was worth the wait. The two belt out the 80s classics “Rio” and “Hungry Like The Wolf“.
If that wasn’t enough music for you, the familial drama continues with an emotional solo by Darren Criss. His character Blaine really goes to town on Christina Aguilera’s first foray into rock music, “Fighter“. It’s definitely one of my favorite tracks ever from Xtina. Criss does a solid job on the angst-ridden track. Check out “Fighter” and the Duran Duran mashup below, before the powers-that-be take down the YouTube audio.
