It’s a new year and Vancouver’s Friends & Company is back with their first event of the year and some exciting new things to share. They’ve got some new guest speakers lined up, new venues, and new opportunities for LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly people to network. As you know, all of the events go to support the anti-bullying and teen suicide prevention work of Out in Schools.
The first event of 2013 is on Friday, February 22 and it’s a Luncheon at Gastown’s sexy and stylish new dining hotspot, Secret Location. If you’ve never been to this space, now’s the time to check it out – it’s gorgeous!
A ticket to the luncheon includes a 3-course menu, specially selected and prepared for us by the Secret Location culinary team, lots of fabulous door prizes (including, as always, the latest smartphone from our friends at TELUS), a chance to participate in a 50/50 draw benefiting Out in Schools and, of course, a great chance to connect with old contacts and meet new ones! Someone from Homorazzi is always there and we’ve love to see you there!
It’s just about time for another Friends & Company event, a Vancouver-based GLBT Friendly Networking organization where proceeds always go to the anti-bullying & teen suicide prevention work of Out In Schools.
The “After Work Holiday Mingler” will be taking place this coming Friday, December 14 from 7pm-10pm at Affinity Auto Showroom (1918 Fir Street, Vancouver). Your ticket will get you admission into the mingler, complimentary holiday cocktails & canapés as well as an additional complimentary cocktail(s) at the 1181 event that follows. Sounds like a fantastic evening to me!
The cocktails at the event will be served by the notoriously sexy 1181 bartenders and like at past Friends & Company events, there are many prizes to be won, with silent auctions, a 50/50 draw, and a smart phone as a door prize, courtesy of TELUS.
To all of our Vancouver readers: If you’re looking for something to do next weekend for Halloween, join Friends & Company GLBT Networking, 1181 Lounge, and Presenting Sponsor, Telus for an evening of haute Halloween decor, ghoulish cocktails, scary costumes, live performances, and fantastic prizes. The event is titled “Bats In Belfry” and promises to be “a bloody good time.” With live performances by Joan-E & friends (I can’t wait to see her costume) and music by DJ Eric Carver, I’m certain that it will be!
As adults, we don’t get to trick or treat anymore, but there are some pretty amazing prizes to be one that certainly make up for it. An iPhone 5 will be raffled off and a Samsung Galaxy Note Smartphone will be awarded as the Prize for Best Costume.
With your ticket, you get Complimentary Vodka Drinks (courtesy of M2 Vodka) and Complimentary Wine (courtesy of Le Vieux Pin Winery). Again, beats the candy!
“Bats In The Belfry” is taking place somewhere very unique and perfect for Halloween. Find out where and what the rest of the details are below.
It has been a while since the last Friends & Company luncheon because they knew how busy people have been with travel and other activities during the summer months. Now, they are pleased to invite you to their September luncheon this coming Friday, September 21, 2012. The venue will be the much-anticipated new Yaletown hotspot, La Pentola della Quercia. Chef-duo Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme of Vancouver’s award-winning West Side restaurant, La Quercia, have joined forces with Cento Notti creator, Peter Girges, and OPUS Hotel, to deliver artfully crafted Northern Italian cuisine.
Lunch is $25 (plus HST and ticket processing fee) per person with net proceeds going to the anti-bullying and teen suicide prevention work of Out in Schools. Please visit friendsandcompany.ca to purchase tickets (and please remember that indicating that you plan to attend on Facebook will not guarantee your place at the luncheon and you must purchase a ticket on their Website). This luncheon will mark their tenth event, following the first nine sold out events, so be sure to get your tickets ASAP.
The event includes a 3-course lunch, complimenatary Champagne courtesy of Veuve Clicquot, an opportunity to participate in a 50/50 draw benefitting Out in Schools, and a chance win the door prizes.
The guest speaker for this luncheon will be TD Canada Trust Vice President, Susan Hall and the emcee for the event will be Homorazzi’s own Tyrell Witherspoon. This will be his second time emceeing one of these events.
A couple months ago, Homorazzi attended the ‘Friends & Company‘ Madmen Party benefiting Out In Schools and had such a blast. In case you don’t know, Friends & Company is GLBT Friendly networking organization that hosts regular luncheons, cocktail parties, etc. where GLBT and GLBT friendly people can meet, network, and have a good time (a few snapshots in the right hand side of the header photo above). All net proceeds from the event go to help Out In Schools, an organization that helps to bring awareness and discussion to schools on the topics of bullying, homophobia, stereotypes and more.
It’s been a couple months since the last event, but now that the sun is shining, it’s time for their “Summer Kick Off Mingler & After Work Cocktail Party” which we hope (if you live in Vancouver) you can attend. Taking place on Friday, June 29 at 6:30pm, it will be an evening of networking and cool cocktails, uniquely surrounded by Vancouver’s finest selection of luxury and exotic cars at the Affinity Auto showroom (we’ve included a photo below).
The evening is presented by Sobieski Vodka, the #1 Premium Vodka in Poland, and tickets are only $30 (plus HST). Tickets can be purchased HERE. As always, 100% of net proceeds will go to the anti-bullying and teen suicide prevention work of Out in Schools. Check out what your ticket includes, the prizes to be won, and more below.
Last weekend, a few of the Homorazzi crew attended Friends & Company‘s “Mad Men Cocktail Culture Party” at the famed Opus Hotel here in Vancouver. Hosted by the infamously fabulous Joan-e, all proceeds from the event went to support Out in Schools.
The event was all out Mad Men. Starting with a red (actually, appropriately pink) carpet out front, guests enjoyed old fashioned 1960s drinks (sponsored by Belvedere Vodka) and everyone dressed up for the occasion proving that Vancouverites CAN really step up to the plate for a theme party. I was so impressed with the details, down to the vintage magazines on the tables to the Mad Men masks, and photo booth. Trevor Kramer and Martin Spencer, the men who founded Friends & Company and put on the sold out event, did a fabulous job for a great cause.
It was also great to see Mary Zilba (RHOV), Fiona Forbes (Urban Rush), and Mashiah Vaughn (Deussault Inc.) to come out and support the event as well. They are also behind helping to bring the NOH8 campaign to Vancouver in less than a month. Marika Palmer of RHOV and her husband, Frank Palmer, Vancouver’s own real life Don Draper, founder of Canada’s leading ad agency, Palmer Jarvis DDP, and member of the Marketing Hall of Legends, also turned out to show their support. Check out all of the photos below. We look forward to attending the Friends & Company luncheon this coming Friday, also benefiting Out in Schools!
A while back, I wrote about Friends & Company’s March Luncheon, proceeds going to the anti-bullying and teen suicide prevention work of Out in Schools. I also announced that Homorazzi is now one of the many proud sponsors of the monthly gatherings.
Friends & Company is a monthly non-profit GLBT-friendly networking event and the next Luncheon is just around the corner on April 20 at Chinois. It’s a great way to meet new people, network, learn something from an esteemed guest speaker and enjoy champagne and a delicious lunch. There are also several door prizes to be won as well! Tickets are only $25 and Telus has generously said that they will match every ticket purchased with a donation to Out In Schools – amazing! Buy tickets here.
In addition, Friends & Company just announced a “Mad Men Cocktail Culture Party” taking place in the lobby of Yaletown’s iconic OPUS Hotel. There you’ll enjoy some stiff cocktails, 1960s attitude, sharp style, and of course some great company. Tickets are $40, and each ticket comes with four (4) complimentary Mad Men Cocktail Culture Tokens, which will be redeemable all evening for drinks from the 1960s themed cocktail menu. Sounds like it’ll be a good time! Buy tickets here. *Note: Friends & Company events always sell out, so don’t wait too long to get your ticket!
