Married and openly out since they arrived on the LGBT music scene, Marlee Walchuk and Tully Callender of Sugarbeach take a look at the life experiences that lead us to “love at first sight”, in their latest single, “Led Me To You”. Winners of Song of the Year for both 2010 and 2011 on the OutVoice Top 40 Charts and 3 Pride in the Arts Awards from the Stonewall Society, Sugarbeach once again endorse a positive form of activism with their newest single.
“Telling LGBT stories of love has been a focus of our music since the beginning,” says Walchuk. “We feel that although many aspects of our community are represented in the media, not nearly enough give us a glimpse of solid, loving relationships.”
Callender gives us insight to the new single. “I am so grateful for all the experiences that I had to have before I could be ready to be in this wonderful relationship. It always amazes me how many things had to line up to make sure that we met and fell in love. It was no easy feat considering I lived in Australia and Marlee lived in Canada…oh and I was straight!” Give Led Me To You a listen below.
We are weeks away from the release of the Scissor Sisters new album Magic Hour which hits stores on May 28. I personally cannot wait for this album to drop. I’ve been following the Sisters since they came out with their debut album in North America. So far, we’ve heard two tracks from the upcoming release. Both Shady Love and Only The Horses are very different in sound and style. Just wait for this new track.
In Let’s Have a Kiki, the group brings 90′s beats to the table in a major way. Right from the top with the spoken word, you know it’s going to be a major runway, drag superstar party anthem. What exactly is a kiki? As the song explains, “a kiki is a party/for calming all your nerves/We’re spilling tea and dishing just desserts when they deserve.” The shade of it all! This track became available on Spotify yesterday to stream. You can give it a listen below and make sure to tell us what you think!
This dynamic duo has come along way from doing covers in their house for their YouTube channel to signing with Epic Records and being managed by one of the biggest names in the business – L.A. Reid. Sky rocketing into fame what seems like overnight, the pair made up of Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan have hit the ground running. They debuted their first original single, “Crash Your Party” last year and it was a good teaser for what these two are capable of.
In their first studio album titled, “Hello,” Amy and Nick definitely flex their musical muscles with the help of some of the hottest producers and song writers in the industry right now. The result is an amazing seven-track disc that is sure to be the perfect soundtrack to your summer. What I also love about the album is that it proves Nick and Amy aren’t just one-trick ponies. The genres on the album are so diverse, you’ll forget who you’re listening to. Lucky for us, they’ve released lyric videos for all the tracks on their album on their VEVO channel.
Amy has said that when you listen to the tracks in order, you’ll hear the duo’s full story. So, I’ve put all of their lyric videos in order for you to get a full bio on who Karmin is. I personally love the Beyoncé inspired “Too Many Fish” and the club banging “Hello.” But, I can’t help but get all dreamy for Nick’s vocals on the beautiful “Coming Up Strong.” Give them all a listen and tell me your favorites below.
American Idol winner Kris Allen has quite rocketed into stardom like his runner-up Adam Lambert. He is however, winning over fans with his look, smooth vocals and inspiring tunes. His newest single “Vision of Love” was truly only a taste of what to expect from his new album, Thank You Camellia. Check out his track list below.
A sampler of the album leaked online yesterday from what I can tell, a lot of our readers are big fans of Mr. Allen. So, I thought I would make sure to share this little bit of ear candy with you. The album drops on May 22 and features some pretty hot collaborators in the songwriting department. Overall, this second effort from Allen is sure to put him on the map. Give the album sampler a listen below.
We’re getting closer to the season of finale of Glee and the upcoming graduation of some of our favorite characters. I’m still very interested to see what kind of direction the show will take when most of its players depart from the halls of McKinley High. In this week’s episode, Rachel and Kurt finally hit the stage for their NYADA auditions which are being judged by none other than Whoopi Goldberg. Perfection. It’s seems that Broadway may be the theme minus a few other tracks thrown into the mix.
The boys and the girls each get their own time to shine. The boys take on a “My Fair Lady” classic with a punk/rock twist in “The Rain In Spain” while the girls throw some shade in “Cell Block Tango” originally from “Chicago”. For what I assume to be Rachel and Kurt’s NYADA auditions, we’ll also hear a song from “The Boy From Oz.” But wait, no Barbara Streisand for Rachel’s audition? I am absolutely shocked.
The three contemporary hits in the playlist are Florence and the Machine’s “Shake It Out” along with Kelly Clarkson’s “Cry“. Appropriately with the end of the school year ahead, Puck and crew rock out to the Alice Cooper classic rock hit, “School’s Out“. In my opinion, the track list is a little all over the place. I’m interested to find out how these songs all work out in context. Give them all a listen below.
Can you believe it’s almost been a year since Avicii began invading our eardrums with his runaway hit, “Levels“? Since then, the track has become a knockout crossover hit even getting a sample courtesy of Flo-Rida only making the song more available to the mainstream market. Can Avicii do it again with his new single?
Titled “Silhouettes“, this track definitely doesn’t lack in dance floor euphoria, but it may lack in the crossover hits department. Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely gagging for the new track, but I don’t see it having the same appeal to the mass market and commercial scene like the the Etta James sample gave. I do love the melody and mysterious vocals in the track however and the breakdown is killer!
The song was co-produced by Swedish violinist and composer Salem Al Fakir who also laid down the vocals for the version of this single. If you’re a fan of Avicii and have seen him live, he has been playing various versions of this track during his sets. Another version you may have heard features the vocals of Kelis. Give it a listen and tell us if you think “Silhouettes” has the same potential as “Levels“.
Outasight may be new to most of you, but this artist has actually been making music for a long time. He got his major recognition when his track “Tonight Is The Night” was featured in the Pepsi/X Factor joint promo ad. After that, he seemed to explode onto the commercial music scene as the track became an anthem including being performed live at this year’s NHL All-Star Game. Now, Outasight is ready to invade our eardrums once again his latest track. One listen, and I’m already hooked!
Titled Now or Never, his latest track keeps the anthems going. This time around, he sings about not letting anything or anyone stop you from doing you – because it’s now or never. With lyrics like “I don’t care what people say, and I don’t care what people do,” it’s sure to speak to those who are ready to overcome the obstacles in their life. Not to mention, the track has a really catching hook. With producer Andrew Goldstein bringing the fresh sounds from Ibiza, this track is sure to be a hit.
It’s been a long time coming but finally, Ke$ha and The Flaming Lips’ collaboration has hit the web. I have to start off by saying I am dying for some new Ke$ha music. I agree, her music isn’t really for the soul and it definitely doesn’t bare a whole lot of meaning. However, her tracks definitely get my weekend going and are always good for the gym or a run. With that being said, I was completely unsure of what this collaboration would bring to the table. Answer is, a whole lot of noise.
Titled You Must Be Upgraded, the song rings out “it’s 2012, think we’re going to Hell” and “I’m having fun while you’re having pain.” As a whole, the song is about doing acid during the Apocalypse. This concept just makes me go, WTF?!. All of this is backdropped by distorted guitars and banging that is sure to give even the best of punk rock listeners a headache. I’m not sure I’m on board with Ke$ha’s new sound but if you’re will to give her a shot, check out the collaboration below.
