Midnight Red may be America’s best kept secret when it comes to the recent invasion of boy band popularity. When it comes to cute boys making a splash in the music industry as a group, you’d think the Brit’s have it on lock. However, this opening act for last summer’s hit tour courtesy of NKOTBSB is ready to make some boy band waves of their own with a new hit single.
“Hell Yeah,” produced by acclaimed hit maker RedOne (Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Nicki Minaj) is an up-in-your-face electronic splash of pop with a driving club beat that will get you out on the dance floor. RedOne knows how to produce a radio-friendly tune and this new track is no exception. It’s a song of the summer contender for sure.
The video showcases the five boys comprised of Joey Diggs Jr., Thomas Augusto, Eric Secharia, Colton Rudloff and Anthony Ladao showing off their unique style and skillful dance moves, one task they definitely have mastered above the boys of One Direction and The Wanted. Do you think these boys have what it takes to compete with the Brit’s strongest contenders or will they be forgotten just as quickly as they appeared? Watch their video for “Hell Yeah” below and tell us what you think!
Adam Young, aka Owl City… ya, remember him? He had the hit song “Fireflies” that you can’t get out of your head, even if you try. In a sincerely smart move, the sort of mainstream one-hit wonder teamed up with another, more current one-hit mastermind, Carly Rae Jepsen for a new track titled, “Good Time.” The uniquely fits both of their vocal styles amazingly making for a bubbly, soft summer track great for the road trip to the cabin this weekend! I already can’t get enough of it.
Woke up on the right side of the bed | What’s up with this Prince song inside my head
Hands up if you’re down to get down tonight | ‘Cause it’s always a good time
Good morning and goodnight | I wake up at twilight
It’s gonna be alright | We don’t even have to try, it’s always a good time!
The track is surprising infectious and is sure to be a radio smash this season considering the success of Carly Rae’s current number one debut, “Call Me Maybe.” The track is set to be featured on Adam Young’s (Owl City) upcoming full length LP titled “The Midsummer Station” due out later this summer. Give a listen to the duo’s collaboration and cop the track when it hits iTunes on June 26.
In preparation for the July 27 release of Step Up Revolution, the team behind the film have been releasing a few tracks from the soundtrack to get us excited for what we will see. The OST has already produced a fierce dance track courtesy of J Lo and Flo Rida. For the second track to see a single release is from the camp of Timbaland and Ne-Yo – a match made in musical heaven!
In the dance heavy track, Timbaland seems to be back on track with his production genius while Ne-Yo supplies some flawless vocals on top of the verses and hook. It definitely has that anthem feeling that you’d expect for a soundtrack from the Step Up franchise. Whether the movie will bomb or not will not depend on the soundtrack. It’s sounding hot! Give a listen to this fierce collaboration below.
Flo Rida has been pumping out the hits lately in anticipation of his upcoming album “Wild Ones” hitting stores and iTunes on July 3. I have always been a fan of Flo’s. His ability to make me dance with his amazing hooks and beats has become quite predictable. When I see a new track from him, I know it’ll be added immediately to my latest playlist. It seems that Flo’s hit formula is one part old school jam, one part slick dance beat and one part sexy rap. And then ta-dah, you have a bangin’ track.
In this newest summer jam titled “Let It Roll,” Flo Rida samples Freddie King’s 1974 tune “Let The Good Times Roll” which is sure to have the clubs singing along just as they did on “Good Feeling.” With all of the amazing singles that Flo has shared with us from his new album, I cannot wait to hear the whole disc. Give a listen to “Let It Roll” below.
On June 26, Maroon 5 will release their fourth studio album, “Overexposed.” After a successful hit in the radio friendly, “Payphone,” the band is hoping for the same reaction with their new, reggae-infused track. With the help of hitmaker, Max Martin, the group is sure to see success in “One More Night.” With their first lead-off single stuck at #3 on the Billboard charts, Will this track take them to #1?
“Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes,” sings frontman Adam Levine over the reggae strums and classic Max Martin synthesizers and chord progressions. I’m not sure if I’m feeling this track as much as “Payphone.” With the hiring of Max Martin as executive producer on the album, you can guarantee that Maroon 5′s sound will be more commercial this time around than what we are used to. Give a listen to “One More Night” and tell us what you think in the comments.
A Cappella vocal artist Mike Tompkins may be known best for his incredible covers of some of today’s hottest hits, but this sensational YouTube star also creates some really strong music of his own. In fact, Tompkins’ track “Stand Up” became the anthem for the documentary “Bully.” Today, Mike has released a new single for our listening pleasure once again created only using his voice and sounds from his mouth. The result is incredible.
The new single goes a little more digital than what we’ve heard from Mike in the past as he took the sounds and used some distortion and octave changes. He also manages to create a baby dub-step break in the hook which is pretty fierce. There is no denying that Mike is one talented individual. Give a listen to “Stars Align” below and don’t forget to cop the track on iTunes here!
After her dramatic exit from X Factor, it was unclear of what would become of the young and talented, Rachel Crow. Immediately, the 14-year-old singer was whisked away from the claws of FOX’s reality show and immediately ushered in to the team over at Nickelodeon along with Columbia Records- to be honest, the first is no surprise. It was unclear when we’d hear some music come from Crow but finally, her debut solo single has surfaced online for our listening pleasure.
Thanks to fellow Nickelodeonite Carlos Pena, the world has been introduced to Crow’s new single, “Mean Girls” via a lyric video that Carlos directed and created. The result of the track produced by hit maker Tony Gad is truly age appropriate and perfect for Rachel’s commercial debut. Not unlike the previous tracks he’s created for Beyoncé and Fergie, the mid-tempo, R&B infused song speaks to the young generation about bullying and offers an inspirational and positive message with the lyrics, “mean girls… Imma comb you outta my curls!” Cute right? Check out Rachel Crow’s new single, “Mean Girls” below and tell us what you think in the comments.
Swedish pop star Agnes is getting ready to release her forthcoming fourth studio album later this fall. To get the ball rolling, she has released a new single and video titled “One Last time.” The mid-tempo ballad tells the story of love lost as she asks to hold her man one last time before they depart for good. In the black & white video, we watch as Agnes tries to come closer to her man, but he isn’t having it.
Agnes is currently in Sweden working on the finishing touches of her new disc. Her American label, Interscope wanted her to move to the US and record the album there. However, she didn’t feel at home stateside and couldn’t find anyone that she could write with there. She decided to move back to Sweden to have more of a handle on on writing the new album. I personally loved her album “Dance Love Pop” so I cannot wait for some new music from this gal. Check out her new track and video below.
