Earlier this week, Kelly Osbourne threatened to quit E!’s Fashion Police over dreadlock-gate. Even though Giuliana Rancic apologized to Zendaya for her culturally-insensitive comments and Zendaya accepted her mea culpa, Kelly is still jumping ship.
“I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same,” Kelly previously tweeted.
After five years on the panel, the network confirmed that Osbourne quit. Read their official statement below.
She’s been behind some of the biggest hits in recent memory. In only makes sense that Bonnie McKee forge a recording career of her own. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter debuted the music video for “American Girl” and enlisted a few of her famous friends to lip sync for their lives.
Naturally, Katy Perry appears in the clip prominently considering McKee co-penned four of her No. 1 hits- “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “California Gurls,” and “Part of Me.” Also making a cameo are other artists she’s written for including Adam Lambert (“Chokehold”), Taio Cruz (“Dynamite”), Ke$ha (“C’Mon”) and Carly Rae Jepsen (“Turn Me Up”).
Too bad Britney Spears (“Hold It Against Me”), Kelly Clarkson (“Hello”), Christina Aguilera (“Let There Be Love”) and Rita Ora (“How We Do (Party)” didn’t show up in the video. Oh well, there isn’t a shortage of familiar names “singing” her lyrics. Joan Rivers and her Fashion Police crew, Kathy Griffin, Lance Bass, George Takei, Nicole Scherzinger, Jewel and her hubby Ty Murray, Macklemore and plenty other randoms make an appearance. Check out the clip below.
Here’s a title Rihanna probably never expected, nor wanted for that matter. The Barbadian singer’s “Skrillex” hairstyle has been voted the worst hair trend of the 21st century. She garnered 20% of the vote on the survey conducted by British hair care retailer Fabriah.com.
Personally, I kinda like the whole one side shaved long hair look. It looks great on the “Stay” singer and others including Cassie and Ellie Goulding. I’m not just saying that either because my current look is short all around with long hair on top ;)
“I am not at all surprised the ‘Skrillex’ look claimed the prize as the worst hair trend of the 21st Century. What is surprising, however, is the number of people still copying the style. I would never have imagined the haircut becoming so popular.” – Francesca Davies, a spokeperson for Fabriah.com
Coming in second in the poll was David Beckham’s cornrows with 19% of the vote. I definitely agree with that. It’s not a good look on the soccer player. Other celebrities making the dishonorable list include Justin Timberlake’s blond curly mane from his ‘N Sync days and Scarlett Johansson’s mullet. American Idol judge Nicki Minaj also made the cut for all her various colorful wigs. Check out the entire Top 10 list below.
Hindsight is 20/20 and that couldn’t be more applicable than to fashion choices. There’s nothing worse than looking at old photos and saying WTF was I thinking putting on that heinous thing. It’s even more magnified for celebs because all their fashion missteps are documented on the internet forever. Like US magazine says… stars, they’re just like us ;)
Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow recently revealed her worst Oscar red carpet moments. If you have a great memory, I’m pretty sure you can figure out what one of her least flattering looks is. Remember back in 2002 when Gwynnie decided to go all goth on us in Alexander McQueen. The raccoon eyes, side braid and the lack of a bra all came together for a God awful look. Paltrow still maintains she likes the dress, but just wishes she had worn less makeup, simple beachy hair and of course… a bra. Find out what her other fashion faux pas is below. PS. It’s not that Ralph Lauren pink dress she wore when she won her Oscar for Shakespeare In Love.
In terms of prestige and correctly predicting the Oscars, the Screen Actors Guild Awards are one of the most important stops during the long awards season. But regarding fashion, they pale in comparison to the Golden Globes and the big event itself, the Academy Awards. Most starlets and nominees save their big couture guns for those two events. That said, any red carpet during this time is important to win over the public and also perhaps some Academy voters. At the very least, impress fashion designers by showing off your red carpet prowess. That way, you become their first choice at the next huge event.
For my SAGs fashion roundup, I picked my five best and five worst dressed actresses, along with other stars who I was on the fence. Keep in mind that fashion is highly-subjective. As I was researching who designed what dress, I found that sometimes a star would be on a best list and other times on the worst. Fashion is definitely a tricky game to manipulate.
For those actresses who didn’t make either my 2013 Golden Globes Top 10 Best Dressed or Top 5 Worst Dressed lists, I thought I’d pit some of them in fashion battles against each other. Check out a few below.
Ever since Angelina Jolie made a huge splash at last year’s Oscars with her thigh-bearing dress, several ladies have tried to channel their inner Jolie. Halle Berry and Rosie Huntington Whiteley were just two names who attempted the high-slit trend last night. Does Berry have a “leg up” on Whiteley with her printed Versace gown? Or does the Victoria’s Secret model win the battle with her black Saint Laurent dress? Cast your vote below. Side note: Didn’t Halle’s “berries” look lopsided in that dress?
As mentioned in my Top 10 Best Dressed post, there were no real fashion trainwrecks on the red carpet this year at the Golden Globes. While great for designers, it’s a huge letdown for those who tune in to laugh at the celebrities who missed the mark.
For my worst dressed list, I could only muster up five actresses who didn’t impress me. Since fashion is highly-subjective, I’m sure a few of you will appreciate the following gowns which I deemed style hiccups. Check out my list below and see if you agree or disagree with my selections.
Did you watch the 70th annual Golden Globes? Expectations were high for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s first hosting attempt, and boy did they deliver. I had a few people over for a potluck viewing party and we found ourselves laughing throughout the three-hour ceremony. Hopefully, this is the dawn of a new era. Fingers crossed that the duo emcee the event again next year. It definitely didn’t drag with them on deck.
Equally as impressive, were the ladies on the red carpet. There were barely any fashion trainwrecks this year which is a shame since it’s fun to mock bad choices. If there was a common theme this year, it was to go simple and understated. Another big trend was long sleeves. A few ladies really worked this to perfection. Check out my Top 10 picks for best dresses at the 2013 Golden Globes below.
