famke janssen

I love me some Famke Janssen and been a fan ever since her Bond Girl days. Xenia Onatopp was bad-ass. Naturally, I’m all about this.

The Blacklist is currently airing its third season and still pulling in decent numbers, despite losing it’s plum post-Voice timeslot. With The Blacklist being the network’s No. 2 show after Blindspot, naturally NBC is eyeing a spinoff. Reportedly, Janssen will helm the series the way James Spader does with the flagship.

Find out below how the spinoff will tie-in to its parent show.

Famke Janssen Books How To Get Away With Murder Gig

In: Donovan, TV Shows

Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) proved she could handle anything that came her way on the first season of How To Get Away With Murder. But how would she fare if facing off against an X-Men mutant? When the ABC drama returns, we’ll find out.

Famke Janssen has booked a multi-episode arc on the second season of the TGIT program. No details about her character have been released. TV Line though reports “she will be playing a brilliant, revered defense attorney who takes her job very seriously.” But, no matter what, she’ll be one formidable for for Davis.

Excited to see Janssen on the show? Weigh in below.

Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) may have died at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, but she still lives on in Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) dreams. Her memory haunts him due to his involvement in her death. He can’t get her out of his head. Cue Kylie Minogue song.

Wolverine’s mutant healing power unfortunately doesn’t apply to his heart. The X-Men heads to Japan to escape his memories. In the land of the rising sun, Wolverine encounters ninjas, his arch-nemesis The Silver Samurai and the nefariously sexy Viper (Svetlana Khochenkova). He also bumps into a man he saved during World War II. Forever grateful to Wolverine, the now elderly man wants to give him a normal life by taking away his healing special powers. Check out a more vulnerable Wolverine in the brand new two minute, 30-second trailer below.

Famke Janssen’s Wolverine Cameo Officially Revealed

In: Donovan, Movies

Comic book fans thought X-Men: Days of Future Past was their first opportunity to see their favorite X-Men characters reunite. Turns out they don’t have to wait until 2014. James Mangold, the director of The Wolverine, unveiled a very revealing short tweaser showing a mini-reunion.

Online rumors surfaced that Famke Janssen shot a cameo during filming, but Mangold neither confirmed nor denied those claims. In the short six-second clip, the speculated reunion between Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Jean Grey (Janssen) is finally confirmed.

The past few days have been a goldmine for those eagerly waiting for the Wolverine sequel. The studio released a brand new poster (see above) and eight movie stills exclusively given to EW.com. It’s your first look at Viper played by Svetlana Khodchenkova. Originally, Jessica Biel was tapped to play the character, but negotiations fell through. If that wasn’t enough, the first full-length movie trailer debuts this Wednesday on MTV and Apple trailers. Check out the tweaser below, along with a couple of photos.

2013 Critics’ Choice Awards: Fashion Roundup

In: Donovan, Fashion, Movies

Can you tell we’re in the heart of awards season? On Wednesday, the People’s Choice Awards took place. On Thursday, the Oscar nominations were announced and this Sunday it’s the Golden Globes turn to take front and center. Sandwiched in between all that action were the 18th Critics’ Choice Awards.

Ben Affleck experienced heartbreak earlier in the day when the Academy snubbed him for Best Director, despite Argo earning seven Oscar nominations. What a difference a few hours make, the 40-year-old walked away with Best Directing honors from the Broadcast Film Critics Association, and Best Picture for Argo. This was Affleck’s Oscars. Clearly, the Academy is still punishing him for Gigli 😉

The big winner of the night was Silver Linings Playbook scoring Best Comedy Movie, Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy and Best Ensemble. The film’s female lead Jennifer Lawrence also nabbed a win for her role in The Hunger Games to match her Silver Linings Playbook Best Actress statue. Not only was Lawrence the critics’ darling, but she also wowed fashinistas everywhere. After a ho-hum fashion showing at the People’s Choice, girl revved it up for the Critics’ Choice. Hands down the best dressed. Check out other noteworthy fashion statements below.

Another X-Men Original Joins New Sequel

In: Donovan, Movies

I know 2013 is just around the corner, but can 2014 come first. I don’t know if I can wait an entire year and then some for X-Men: Days of Future Past to hit theaters. When Bryan Singer announced that he was returning to the X-Men franchise and bringing along Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen to reprise their roles of Prof X and Magneto respectively, I was already excited enough. But with this bit of news, I’m beyond that.

For those who don’t know the premise of the X-Men sequel, here’s the gist. It will alternate between a 20th century world featuring the First Class cast (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) and a dystopian future where older versions of them appear (Stewart and McKellen). Ever since Singer confirmed that Patrick and Ian were on board, many have speculated and hoped he would bring others. For all you comic book geeks, Christmas just came early because another casting coup has occurred.

Movie Review: Taken 2

In: Matt, Movies

The sequel to Liam Neeson’s highly successful movie Taken hits theatres released today. Taken 2 is just as action packed and thrilling as the first, but don’t expect any shocking twists or turns. I kind of felt like I was watching the original all over again.

While on a family vacation, relatives of the men Bryan (Neeson) killed in the first film are seeking revenge on him and his family. They inevitably end up kidnapping Bryan and his ex-wife, leaving only their daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) to set them free and allow bad-ass Bryan to “do what he does best.”

There are some really cool and intense car chases in this film with some top notch explosions and stunts. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough to distract me from the fact that the better part of the film seems too much like the first, with the same women needing rescuing again. Like, how much bad luck can your family have… honestly?

Somehow I missed that that is was even in the works, but I’m certainly glad that it is! The movie trailer for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has just debuted and we’ve got your first look at the fairy tale rebirth.

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as Hansel and Gretel, but it’s now 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident. Since then, they’ve become a dynamic duo of bounty hunters that track and kill witches all over the world. Things are taken to a whole knew level when they face the terror of a dangerous Sorceress played by Famke Janssen (who I LOVE). They must stop her before she can sacrifice all the local children to her dark arts.

It looks party cheesy but part awesome and overall it will be worth checking out in my opinion. The film hits theaters in January 2013. Check out the trailer below!
