jussie-smollett-gay-comes-out

There’s been plenty of speculation regarding Jessie Smollett’s sexuality. Is he gay like the character he plays on Empire or just playing gay? The 31-year-old actor chose to set the record straight on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

He did, however, wait until backstage to reveal all, instead of addressing the topic during the main interview in front of the studio audience. Smollett reveals that “there’s never been a closet that I’ve been in. I don’t own a closet, I own a dresser.”

If that declaration isn’t clear enough, check out his ‘coming out’ below. He doesn’t state it in any definitive terms, but he does mention that he takes his mama to the Sound of Music sing-along every year. Enough said ;)

People Behind #TheDress Visit Ellen DeGeneres

In: Donovan, TV Shows
the-dress-ellen-degeneres

It was the dress that broke the internet. What started out as an innocent post on Tumblr immediately went viral with some people weighing in very passionately. I don’t know about you, but I only saw black and blue.

If you were curious to know the story behind the viral sensation, Ellen DeGeneres invited the folks involved on her show. It turns out, it was all about a wedding. The mother of the bride sent three photos of different dress options to her daughter. As you can imagine, confusion began when family members saw the dress differently.

How do you try to beat the selfie that broke the Internet? I have no idea and neither does Neil Patrick Harris. Not even the woman who hosted last year’s extravaganza knows. Mind you, if Ellen DeGeneres did, I doubt she’d share it. Deep down, I’m sure she doesn’t want this year’s show to outshine hers ;)

The 41-year-old actor reveals his biggest fears about hosting the 87th Academy Awards to DeGeneres. The daytime host dishes she was extremely lucky that all the cards fell in place for that definitive moment at last year’s Oscars.

“Here’s my biggest concern,” Harris confesses to DeGeneres. “Your selfie shot [featuring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and plenty more A-listers] was the most spectacular, successful thing. It worked out so well. But it’s a horrible dark cloud above my head now. How do you try to beat the selfie that broke the Internet? I see that in my nightmares. It turned out to be a great thing … selfies in my brain, so I’m gonna try to do something better.”

That’s not the only obstacle NPH talks about preparing for Sunday night’s big event. Find out the others in the video below.

Lea Michele dropped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show for the third time on Thursday. In addition to promoting her debut single “Cannonball,” the 27-year-old opened up about dealing with Cory Monteith’s untimely death. She reveals how Kate Hudson, Ryan Murphy and her mom all helped her deal with her grief just days after her loss.

“She was so wonderful to basically give me her home to myself and my family,” Michele said Hudson. “It was so helpful to just, basically, have a safe place to process, and just have a minute to just breathe before getting back to my house with just has a lot of memories and stuff. So being some place else to just have a moment was really nice.”

On a lighter note, Michele performed her soon-to-be hit single live for the first time. The more I hear “Cannonball,” the more I get hooked. With that being said, I found it hard to separate Lea from her alter ego Rachel Berry during her performance. Am I alone in thinking this? Check out her number below along with her interview.

After a year off, The Sing-Off returns for a fourth season to NBC this Christmas. Season 3 winners Pentatonix have gradually become the singing competition’s Kelly Clarkson by being the most successful out of the bunch. Since winning two years ago, their debut EP debuted at No. 14 with a brand new one dropping this week. In addition, they’ve appeared in numerous YouTube videos which have gone viral.

One of their best is the epic “Evolution of Beyoncé” which chronicled the “Irreplaceable” singer’s discography all the way from her Destiny’s Child days to her “Grown Woman” era. Their a capella medley was genius. Apparently, Ellen Degeneres thought so too. She brought them on her show Monday to perform it for a live studio audience. Not surprisingly, it’s pitch perfect. Check it out below, along with the original and their interpretation of the evolution of music. That’s brilliant as well.

First and foremost, Happy National Coming Out Day (NCOD) everyone. How do you plan on celebrating this gay holiday? Come out again? LOL. I kid.

The date of October 11 was chosen because it was the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights where half a million people participated. In 1998, Robert Eichberg, a psychologist from New Mexico, and Jean O’Leary, an openly gay political leader from Los Angeles, made the holiday official and founded NCOD.

To mark the 25th anniversary, the Human Rights Campaign looks back at some of the trailblazing coming out moments in American media that raised the profile of LGBT Americans and sparked important dialogue about the fight for equality. Some of the famous LGBT celebrities featured in the clip include Ricky Martin, Jason Collins, Frank Ocean, Adam Lambert, Lance Bass and naturally Ellen DeGeneres.

If you’re curious to read a few of our respective coming out stories, we’ve compiled them here for you. Simply click on the author’s name to learn more about each Homorazzi.com writer. In the meantime, check out HRC’s commemorative montage below.

Meet Ellen Degeneres’ Son Rico

In: Donovan, Totally GAY!, TV Shows

If you caught Ellen Degeneres’ show yesterday, you met her sexy son Rico. Rumor has it Mario Lopez is his father. LOL. When Ellen offered him up to guest DJ Carmen Electra, she shouted her gays would love him. Preach sister. The things I would do ;)

Obviously, it’s not really her child. The talk show host trotted out the chiseled Adonis in response to Clint Eastwood’s hot son Scott receiving massive press due to his Town & Country spread. If he looks familiar, his actual name is Joel Rush. He was the runner-up on the ABC reality series True Beauty and had memorable roles in gay flicks including Eating Out: Drama Camp, Eating Out: The Open Weekend and Love or Whatever. Check out the video below, along with several shirtless pics of Joel.

Ellen DeGeneres first hosted the Oscars back in 2007 for the 79th Academy Awards. She became the first openly gay or lesbian person to land the gig and earned an Emmy nomination for her work. The 55-year-old entertainer finally received another invitation from the Academy to do it all over again. Hopefully, she wasn’t waiting by the phone. Waiting for the second date call is always the worst ;)

DeGeneres broke the news via Twitter saying, “It’s official: I’m hosting the #Oscars! I’d like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra.” Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said she was the perfect choice as “there are few stars today who have Ellen’s gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity.” Those who weren’t fans of Seth Macfarlane’s edgier and acidic performance will be happier with Ellen at the helm for the 86th annual Academy Awards. DeGeneres will be seen as a safer pair of hands.

Too bad, Hugh Jackman isn’t back. Loved the telecast from his year. It was the gayest Oscar ceremony in recent memory. As much as I love Ellen, I wasn’t overly impressed with her first outing. Hopefully, she’ll be more at ease with first time jitters out of the way. Check out her first Oscar opening monologue below.
