How many of your (gay) friends break up and get back together and break up and get back together and break up and “stay friends” only to get back to mother-freaking-gether again? Yeah, it’s a pandemic. In the vein of that annoyance (yes, I can judge, I’ve never done it but have been “the friend” to many a reuniting buddies and roll my eyes every time), I choose to recommend this comedic pick o’ the week starring to B-listers giving a pretty good demonstration of what a modern funny couple looks like in today’s world.
While Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones don’t exactly scream leading roles, they are nonetheless consummate comedians and every scene of this movie is executed to make you smile… even the sad parts. Short synopsis: boy and girl date forever and are best friends and break up but remain inexorably intertwined and drive their friends absolutely insane with their are they/aren’t they facade. It’s a pretty original storyline that strangely enough has really been done too much and because it’s so relatable, you’re captured by the plot. No, the movie isn’t going to win awards or sky rocket any careers but it’s mos def worth a view to anyone who’s been in this situation or laughs at friends who have. Andy is very good at being the boner, aloof mess that I’m sure he method acts through his live when the camera is off and Rashida shines brightly for me in this one as the Type A comedic bitch-lite who just can’t get her life straight.
The Hobbit‘s sexy Elijah Wood is celebrating his birthday today, turning 32 years old (I’m turning 32 in a month as well – wowza!) The actor has a number of projects on the go right now that are in post production, some in pre-production, and one that’ he’s currently filming which is called Open Windows. The movie is a “found footage” type thriller that involves a laptop computer and various POV cameras set up around a house. Essentially, a girl (Sasha Grey) is trapped in a house and Wood’s character has to save her before it’s too late.
A little over a year ago, Tyrell had written a Who’d You Rather post between Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe, both leading men in “magical” cult classic films. Radcliffe ended up taking the lead in the poll, but personally, I’d definitely take Elijah’s “Wood” over Harry Potter’s “Wand”. Wood has the sexiest eyes and is always so adorable on screen.
Check out a collection of some of his sexiest pictures below. There are a couple shirtless ones from his role on the TV series, Wilfred as well as a couple homoerotic ones too. I also included a the Beastie Boys music video he did back in 2011 as well as the hilarious “7 Minutes In Heaven” interview he did that year as well.
A new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has just been released and we’ve got your first look. The last time we got a peak at the film was in December of 2011. Now, this full on trailer gives you a much better idea of what to expect from the film.
For those of you that have read the book, you may be interested in knowing who is playing what character. For preexisting characters, it’s the same as what we saw in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The cast includes Stephen Fry pas The Master of Laketown, Bill Connolly as Dain Ironfoot, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Orlando Bloom as Elf Prince Legolas, Ian Holm as older Bilbo, Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel and more. Also as a reminder, this too is a three part series, with The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and There and Back Again (2014) to follow.
The movie comes out on Decemeber 14. Enjoy the trailer below.
This movie looks so good! Rashida Jones and Andy Samburg star in a new romantic comedy called ‘Celeste & Jesse Forever‘ and we’ve got your first look at the trailer. Aside from the stellar cast, this movie seems to tell a very honest story about relationships, breakups, and heartbreak.
Jones & Samburg play two people that met in high school, married young and are now growing apart. At 30-years old, they decide to get divorced and try to stay best friends while they pursue other relationships. Needless to say, this is easier said than done. Celeste (Rashida Jones) is pretty certain that divorcing the Jesse (Andy Samberg) is the right thing to do. Even though he is still in love with her, Jesse accepts her decision and transitions into being “best friends”. When reality sets in, Celeste starts to realize that maybe she had a good thing and is making the wrong decision. Unfortunately, this revelation is bad timing for Jesse.
Supporting cast include Elijah Wood, Emma Roberts, Chris Messina, Ari Graynor, and Will McCormack. The film hits theatres on August 3. Check out the trailer below!
This has got to be by far Elijah Wood‘s darkest role. Directed by Franck Khalfoun, Wood stars in the remake of William Lustig’s brutal 1980 film, ‘Maniac‘. The original film tells the twisted story of a schizoid serial killer and stalks and kills women in New York, seeking revenge for the mistreatment he received from his own mother as a child.
The plot is so creepy. Wood plays Frank, the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store who has an obsession with scalps. When a young artist named Anna (Nora Arnezeder) asks him for help with her new exhibition, his obsession escalates and she has somehow unleashed his repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
This uncensored teaser trailer is the first look at the film and contains French subtitles, as the teaser was created for the Cannes Film Festival.
It’s my last Who’d You Rather before the holidays. I can’t believe a year flew by so quickly, can you? We’ve compared a lot of musicians, actors and models every Wednesday of 2011 and it’s been fun. Today is no exception as I bring you the battle of Radcliffe VS Wood. Both of these men have starred in a magical film series’ and both are incredibly sexy. Let’s take a closer look.
Daniel Radcliffe was only 11-years-old when he first burst onto the silver screen portraying the beloved character of Harry Potter. The world watched as Daniel grew up before our eyes evolving into the sexy, young man he is today. Now, he has created a successful theater and Broadway career as well as starring in a new thrilling film, The Woman In Black. Oh, I can’t leave out that Entertainment Weekly named him the 2011 Entertainer of the Year.
Elijah Wood is keeping busy himself. While he may not have won any titles for 2011, he’s still working hard for Peter Jackson reprising his role as Frodo Baggins for the upcoming two Hobbit films. As you remember, Elijah played the role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy which rocketed him into superstardom. Elijah is also an active voice artist, giving life to characters in Happy Feet and 9. He was also nominated for a Satellite Award for his FX show, Wilfred.
Check out the photo evidence from both men and vote below on Who’d You Rather.
The first trailer for Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” has arrived, totally teasing us when you consider the fact that it doesn’t come out until December of next year. Following this film, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” will hit theatres the year after.
Since being released, the trailer for this prequel has already succeeded in making fans all over extremely excited about the film. Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey and Martin Freeman plays the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Other familiar faces in this film include Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, and Elijah Wood among many others.
Although it is exciting that the first trailer has arrived, don’t expect it to reveal too much about this chapter of the story. In fact, it doesn’t reveal all that much at all and only more or less sets things up for the story to begin. I will say that personally, I was happy to see a “precious” moment with Gollum towards the end of the trailer. See for yourself below.
So, SNL writer Mike O’Brien has this web series called “7 Minutes In Heaven With Mike O’Brien” where he interviews celebrities…in the closet. I know it’s pride here in Vancouver right now, but you’ll definitely want to step back into the closet to watch these three interviews. This is now my new favorite web series. In each of the interviews, he talks very briefly about what they’re working on, a little “closet theatre” skit, and then just some random and super awkward questions.
He interviews Bravo’s fabulous Andy Cohen, the sexy Elijah Wood, and the extremely hilarious Kristen Wiig. Of course they are all separate interviews, but I’ve included all three of them. If I’m not mistaken, they are the only three he’s done so far as the series just started a few days ago. Enjoy!
