dwayne the rock johnson

Dwayne The Rock Johnson goes up against the biggest rock of them all- planet Earth. The 42-year-old actor stars in the upcoming disaster flick San Andreas showing the damage a magnitude 9 earthquake can inflict on California and its surrounding states if the infamous fault lives up to its violent potential.

The first teaser trailer just dropped and it reminds me of the West Coast version of The Day After Tomorrow. It’s about time New York got a break ;)

Joining The Rock in the film are True Detective‘s Alexandra Daddario, Paul Giamatti, Kylie Minogue, Colton Haynes, Archie Panjabi and Kylie Minogue. He also reunites with his Race to Witch Mountain co-star Carla Gugino. San Andreas hits theaters May 29, 2015.

Check out the teaser trailer below which shows the Hollywood sign, Hoover Dam and other landmarks crumbling. The eerie cover of the Mamas and the Papa’s “California Dreams” playing in the background adds a nice touch.

First Furious 7 Movie Trailer Debuts

In: Donovan, Movies

Very few movie franchises reach their seventh installment. Especially outside the horror genre. The Fast & The Furious has achieved longevity by giving its fans more insane over-the-top car stunts with each film. In the words of actress Michelle Rodriguez, the latest flick can be described as “cargasm.”

Based on the trailer, I tend to agree with her. The first few seconds features a highway car pursuit, vehicles parachuting out of a plane and Paul Walker doing the most ridiculously improbable air-defying stunt.

The first Furious 7 trailer debuted at a special premiere event this weekend which was attended by the film’s stars, including Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson and Rodriguez. Diesel’s character faces off against Statham who’s avenging his brother’s death.

Saw director James Wan directs the film which features cameos from Iggy Azalea and Kurt Russell. Furious 7 races into theaters in April 2015. Check out the trailer below.

Baywatch Movie Snags Its First Cast Member

In: Donovan, Movies

After several attempts, it appears Paramount’s plans for a big screen adaptation of Baywatch is finally coming together. Over the years it’s gone through vastly different iterations ranging from serious fare to a screwball comedy and everything in between. With comedy writer Justin Malen rewriting the script and Sean Anders and John Morris, the team behind We’re the Millers and Horrible Bosses 2 directing, it appears it’s a straight comedy.

Move over Jude Law, Channing Tatum has his sights set on a new man. Back in January, People’s reigning Sexiest Man Alive revealed that his Side Effects co-star got him all hot and bothered. “I’m getting kind of sweaty thinking about it,” he told ET. “He’s a mesmerizing dude.” Here I thought, Jude only attracted nannies ;)

When Law heard of Tatum’s affections, he blushed but thought he was joking and didn’t believe it. Perhaps he was side stepping the issue because Jude has an entirely different man crush of his own. Law revealed, “It has to be Downey [Robert Downey Jr.]! Has to be! Only because he’d be devastated if I said anyone else!” Obviously heartbroken with his unrequited love (wink), Channing quickly moved on and found another Hollywood actor to crush on. Find out who below.

The second I saw paparazzi pics of Mark Whalberg in his undies while filming Pain & Gain, I knew I had to check out this film. The 41-year-old actor reportedly spent two months intensively training before shooting. Job well done. Clearly, I’m not the only one impressed with Wahlberg’s new buff physique. Director Michael Bay who directed the flick, hired him again. This time to take over the Transformers franchise.

Besides the allure of Mark all beefed up, the film also stars the hilarious duo of Ken Jeong and Rebel Wilson. Adding even more muscle is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. In the film, Wahlberg and The Rock play Miami bodybuilders who get involved with extortion, kidnapping, and murder. Believe it or not, the film is based on real life events. In fact, Mark’s character received a death sentence and currently sits on Florida’s death row. Check out the upcoming action comedy’s first trailer below.

2012 is looking like it’s going to be the Year of the Action Film. With some many major titled hitting the silver screen after we drop the ball on New Year’s, it’s going to be hard to keep track and see them all. The latest film hitting the 2012 action blockbuster scene is G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Thanks to the kind people at Machinima, we’ve been granted a first look at the trailer for the sequel.

Channing Tatum is back for more alongside new additions to the series, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who debuts playing Roadblock and the almighty action star himself, Bruce Willis who plays the legendary Joe Colton, aka the original G.I. Joe. In my opinion, I thought for sure they would have used Terra Nova and Avatar’s Stephen Lang in the role. However, Bruce should be a good fit.

For the second helping of G.I. Joe, the team faces off against Zartan (played by Arnold Vosloo, his accomplices, and the world leaders he has under his influence. The film was directed by Jon M Chu. This will be Chu’s first big attempt at an action feature after previously only directing dance films. It’ll be interesting to see how he pulls it off. Check out the trailer below.
