After narrowly avoiding a warrant for her arrest last week due to missing her scheduled court appearance, Lindsay Lohan decides to test fate and the judges patience by arriving 10 minutes late on Monday. Smart move, LILO.

She claimed her passport was stolen while at the Cannes Film Festival, where she was photographed nightly, frequently partying it up. Looking nervous (obviously), she arrived at the courthouse dressed very conservatively in a black pant suit and white shirt waiting for her punishment.

Presiding judge, Marsha Revel imposed new conditions to the embattled star in hopes the once-promising star would turn her life around. Besides wearing a fashion-forward attractive alcohol monitoring device, La Lohan has to submit to random drug and alcohol testing. On top of that, Lindsay has to return to court in July for possible further sanctions depending on how she fares in the new couple of months.

Last Monday, I was awoken by the sound of a large bang at around 1:30 in the morning. I had assumed it was a garbage truck doing an off-hour pickup. I looked out my window, a car’s front end was smashed in. I opened my room door because I heard one of my roommates’ door open. I saw someone in a dark haze. He said: “There was a car crash. There is a lady unconscious.” I had assumed it was my roommate’s boyfriend, who happens to be a paramedic. A few seconds later, another door opens and the paramedic boyfriend comes out of his room. It turns out my other roommate ran down to check out the situation. Upon further inspection, it was a man driving the car and not a lady. He had just assumed it was a lady.

After about 3 minutes, the paramedics arrive. Surveying the scene we tried to piece together what happened. Pulling together, we combined crime scene skills which consisted of about 62 episodes of CSI (the original, none of that spin off crap). We came to the assumption that the car was trying to make a left turn and the Starbucks truck accidentally clipped the car spinning it around and creating havoc. You guessed it – wrong. The paramedics and firefighters could smell booze the second they opened the car door. The car was excessively speeding, lost control and hit head on to the Starbucks truck while it was making a delivery. Further watching the scene, the paramedic boyfriend assumed his aunt may show up as she was an EMT paramedic (a higher level paramedic) as there is only one EMTs for all of Vancouver. She didn’t arrive.

Looks like Tiger Woods is better at driving on the golf course than on the roads. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the popular golfer sustained serious injuries while involved in a car accident early this morning. Maybe hoping to get a jump on a “Black Friday” sales, Woods pulled out of his driveway around 2:25am. As he was leaving, he hit a fire hydrant and then drove onto his neighbor’s property where he hit a tree.

Since he was traveling under 33mph, his 2009 Cadillac Escalade didn’t deploy. The Orange County sheriff’s office received a call at 2:27am and was told the driver was injured and still inside the car. Woods was rushed to Health Central and treated for facial lacerations and was released later that afternoon. Luckily, alcohol isn’t considered a factor but investigations are still underway to determine what caused Woods to drive into the hydrant. I only thought dogs were attracted to them and not “tigers”.

Oh boy. 23 Year old Stephanie Pratt from The Hills was arrested in the wee hours of Sunday morning (around 3:45am) as she was suspected to have been drinking and driving. After being arrested outside of Empire Nightclub, she was booked in jail in the San Fernando Valley. With a $5,000, she was released. What is it with this young Hollywood Starlets these days? Seriously. Publicity is one thing, but putting other people’s lives at risk is another.

Apparently, she was celebrating Holly Montag’s 26th birthday with other The Hills stars when it all went down. Hmm, interesting because in the previews, it’s Holly that Speidi sends to rehab! Looks like they have another one coming their way. I hope that the cameras were there and that the arrest is part of the show because as much as the “The Bitch is Back” on The Hills this season, I’m finding it to be quite boring, unfortunately. Stephanie was released later that morning, and will return to court for a hearing.

It’s not very often I start the day angry. I’m usually a pretty happy-go-lucky morning person. Just ask my boyfriend Riley. He hates it. But, yesterday morning my day turned sour as I did my morning read through the online news. Ray Lam, a gay candidate with the NDP in the upcoming provincial election had stepped down because the media got hold of two photos from his Facebook page. I’m not going to show the pictures because they belong to him, but you can check out the CKNW story here.

First things first, he should have removed the photos if he was running for political office… obviously. This isn’t even his first time making an effort at it. He tried to run for Vancouver City Council last fall. He should know better. But, since when did silly, flirty and fun photos become an offense so bad you can’t run for political office? Bill Clinton got caught lying about blow jobs in the Oval Office, but kept his job. Our own Premier, Gordon Campbell, got arrested while on vacation in Hawaii for drunk driving. He was CONVICTED. He didn’t resign. In fact, the people of BC seemed to get over it. He was reelected in 2005 and stands a good chance of being Premier again in 2009. What’s worse – photos from a night out with friends or your mug shots after getting ARRESTED?

According to TMZ, What Women Don’t Want, star Mel Gibson’s wife Robyn has filed for divorce, ironically signing the papers on Good Friday. They do not have a prenuptial agreement, so it looks like the $900 million is going to be split 50/50, in accordance with the California divorce laws. They have seven children together and have been married since 1980.

Apparently, the two have grown apart ever since Braveheart Brokenheart Mel was arrested for DUI back in 2006. It is also speculated they’ve actually been “separated” for a couple years now.  

They have issued a statement, stating: “Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so.”

Upcoming films for Mel include Edge of Darkness, which is in post-production, and it was recently announced he’ll be in a film called Sam and George.
