By Post Street Launch Party

In: Behind The Cast, Donovan, Fashion

On Sundays, we try to give more insight of us behind the scenes. Try being the operative word, since I just looked back and it’s been awhile since I wrote something about the cast. My bad. Today, I wanted to put the spotlight on a friend of many of us on the cast.

Meet Anna Thorsen. She’s the Editor-in-Chief of The Social-Life.com. Recently, she launched a new venture called by post street. It’s a limited edition t-shirt and music company which features fashion icons and house & hip hop deejays. The project is a collaboration between Anna and Vancouver street artist, Kat Thorsen (her mom). How adorable is that, right?

by post street held their launch party last weekend at 1181- one of our favorite YVR hangs. Anna is sandwiched between some of the lounge’s hot bar staff. Side note: Carson, to her left, is one of my besties ;) The one on the far right is DJ Adam Dreaddy whom we’ve featured on the site before. He provided wicked tunes throughout the day.

During the event, by post street debuted their first limited run tees, Collaboration 1 [KAR]. A great time was had by all. It was one of the best #sundayfundays I’ve had in a while. Collaborations will be released monthly and will feature podcasts made exclusively by the “DJs-of-the-month” to download for free. 3% of by post street’s net-monthly profits will be donated to Vancouver Friends For Life. Check out the tees below, along with a picture of my friends and myself at the event.

WinterPRIDE 2013 is only six weeks away, with this being the 21st Annual Gay Ski Week in Whistler, B.C. A bunch of us here at Homorazzi actually started attending back in 2009 and that’s actually where we came up with the name for what would be known as “Homorazzi” one year later. We always have such a blast, and the last couple years we’ve even captured our experiences in video recaps. Patrick and Adam actually once spent the entire week at WinterPRIDE and had an unforgettable time meeting people from all over the world and attending some incredibly fun parties and apres skis. Homorazzi will be there again this year and we definitely want to see YOU there too!

Every year, there are different performers and events to look forward to and this year there is no exception. The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, the amazing Chad Michaels will be there to perform and the headlining DJ for the week is DJ Paul Goodyear. In addition, one of the sexiest and most popular porn stars around, Brent Everett will also be on the mountain and appearing at various events.

Without further delay, check out the Top 10 Reasons why you and your friends should get your ski bums in gear and start planning to be at WinterPRIDE 2013 taking place this coming February 3 – February 10 in Whistler, B.C..

Top 10 Reasons after the jump…

God I love that term: rapture. It’s so laden with religious and deep sexual undertones that you have to appreciate the use of it to describe a hot, underground gay club experience. What are YOUR plans this NYE? If you tell me it’s watching the ball drop then first off, you know you’re on a gay website, right grandpa? I think your AOL account misdialed there. Second, if you say house party then send me a message about WTF it is cause finding a fun and successful gay party is rough as no one wants to risk that new tiling they got earlier this winter. Third, if it’s deciding which party to go to then look to further: Rapture GENESIS with DJ Chez and DJ Adam Dreaddy is the place to get it wet and dirty.

Before you tell me you’re all booked for the night- this one is an afterhours and goes well into Jan 1st. Starting at the crack of midnight, you should be downing your last glass of bubbly and putting on the winter coat (and not much else underneath) and make your way to the tip of Granville to the ever-iconic World night club. The party stays open a full 8 hours ish, so start saving up energy now because one of Vancouver’s most infamous (and not just for his large… vocabulary) DJ’s DJ Adam Dreaddy will be opening this night with his unique brand of original mixes (I better here some vocals I can belt out to Dreads!) and headlining is the up-and-coming Canadian talent DJ Chez. I have to say WOOF. Tommy, I’m requesting a meet and greet with this beef cake pronto. Check out his fb profile and tell me that 200 lbs of stud isn’t reason enough to attend this dark, sexy party. Knowing The World, knowing TFD productions and knowing Dreaddy, this party will be packed and something to talk about well into 2013. A must attend for Vancouverites in the know and a damn great recommend to visitors looking to experience gay Van once the lights go out.

If you didn’t make it out to the last bear-stravaganza in Vancouver, then where the hell were you: Mars?? Bearracada- for the 8 of you still out there who haven’t heard of it yet- is an everyone-allowed, bears MOST assuredly welcome, internationally touring party of dancing and drinking that spreads Canada, the States and Australia and appeals to all types. Most definitely, this is the party to go to if you enjoy the harrier, handsomer, and builkier side of things as bears are the quintessential attendee of this fun night- but, take a look at me and know that even us non-furballs do JUST fine. This February we got a real (juicy) taste of this epic event as they SOLD OUT and packed Club Five Sixty busier than I’ve seen it… well, possibly ever. It was hands down the sexiest night I’ve spent in Vancouver this year as the boys MEN were out in full force and couldn’t have been in better moods- I was goldilocks in the bears’ den and ALL the beds fit juuuuuust right.

I’ve hands down adored the new branding that Club Five Sixty has offered us this year under the direction of scruffy stud and good friend DJ Adam Dreaddy as he’s attempted to appeal to all factions of gays by pulling in big name DJs, international parties and talent from all walks to ensure that no one group or type of guy is solely pleased. If you’re like me and like to try out different themes, spaces and concepts, you’ll know that every event we gays get facebook tagged into offers a different feel, a different look and more often than not a different type of man to flirt with: I have to say, Bearracuda is without a doubt my bailiwick and I can’t wait. This Saturday, May 5th from 9PM till late at Club Five Sixty (560 Seymour Street) is catering to the bearish brutes in town and pulling out all the stops; you gotta be there.

I know what you’re thinking: it’s usually Madonna that does the riding, right? But, this weekend it’s the sexy boys of YVR that will be riding the Material Girl into the wee hours as Vancouver’s best gay talent takes to the stage at Club 560 to perform and spin their biggest and best remixes of Madonna’s greatest hits this Saturday, March 31st at 560 Seymour Street in the heart of downtown.

PONI- for those who haven’t heard- is Saturdays revamped at Club 560 as they refuse to let the gays go gently into that good night and continue to offer us week after week of the newest and greatest talent out there with big names, touring parties at one of Vancouver’s biggest venues. Three floors to accommodate any vibe and all customers, this weekend promises to be a damn good one for anyone who loves the endless song book of Madonna as remixed by DJ Adam Dreaddy and DJ Nick Bertossi: possibly Vancouver’s sexiest DJs if not some of the most talented (no joke, click on the links to realize I’m not just makin’ it up). Not only that, but we’ll be getting a performance by my FAVOURITE fishy drag queen (thanks RuPaul for that vocab): Raye Sunshine. This girl is sex personified as she dresses to the nines, lip synches like a dream and puts her all into every single performance. She’ll be done up better than Madge herself and there’s a rumour the hirsute DJs will be supporting her LMFAO style!

Milk Does A Body Good

In: Patrick, Totally GAY!

I recently came across this promo video for a club in São Paulo, Brazil called ‘The Society‘ that has a night called “Milk” (happening every Wednesday) and I just had to share it with you. I’ve checked out pictures of the club and it seems like quite a popular place and if I ever find myself in São Paulo (fingers crossed), I will definitely be attending Milk.

The video below shows one sexy shirtless milk man on his bike en route to deliver a couple bottles of milk to his delivery address… The Society. Clearly milk has done his body good. I think more clubs should do promo videos like this!

On a side note, a while back I participated in a photo shoot (along with a handful of other Vancouverites you might recognize from the gay community) with photographer Adam Wojtowicz where we were immersed in a pool of milk (or what was made to look like milk). It believe it was supposed to be for a project for the HIM Campaign, but nothing ended up happening with it. Rather than let these pictures go to waste as “spoiled milk,” I’ve also included them below.

While Vancouverites always hear that we have the prettiest city, nice skiing, great food and amazing access to nature, what we don’t usually hear is that we have a killer gay nightlife. Lacking in venues, limited “big name” local DJs and a minimal scene crowd for a metropolis, Vancouver clubbing doesn’t have it the easiest. So, when they do try something new, you can sure as hell bet I’m gonna try it out. Headed up by a good friend to both myself and Homorazzi, DJ Adam Dreaddy, the sometimes-gay Saturdays at one of our largest and newest venues Club 560, are back to take over the night mo’ style with their newest bold venture: PONI.

Starting this Saturday, February 25th at Club 560 (560 Seymour Street) in downtown Vancouver, the new PONI night attempts to attract dancin’ and partyin’ gays from all over as the creators revamp their weekend undertaking by callin’ on some big names in the DJ world and make YVR a destination city for weekend fun. First up is LA-based DJ Marco Da Silva: the model, actor, choreographer DJ whose tatted up looks and big party style has encouraged a huge following across the party scene. Laying down original and booming house tracks, Marco is not just an attraction to the ears of gays but to the eyes as well. Let’s hope he likes em’ lean ha.
