dwts-season-19-premiere

The premiere of any Dancing With The Stars season is my favorite. Watching which stars come out as the early frontrunners and surprise me with their dancing talent brings out my inner nerd. It’s not uncommon to see me break into a smile or clap after witnessing an endearing performance. The Season 19 kick-off was no different.

Though the cast has been criticized for not being exciting or bringing in the star wattage, I quite enjoyed the show. Not surprisingly, Alfonso Ribeiro topped the leaderboard, scoring 9s across the board. After all, he did dance with Michael Jackson as a kid and gave us ‘The Carlton’ on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. It was great his Silver Spoons co-star, Ricky Schroeder, showed his support in the audience.

The one who surprised me the most was Randy Couture. Who knew the wrestler could be so graceful? He’s my dark horse pick. Even though they have no shot in hell to win the mirrorball, both Tommy Chong and Betsey Johnson made me smile. They’re both so adorable and gave better-than-expected performances given their age. Well done. Hopefully, Johnson survives this week despite having the lowest score of the night.

Along with the aforementioned, I’m also rooting for Jonathan Bennett, Lea Thompson and Janel Parrish to do well.

Personally, I hope LoLo Jones gets the axe. She had resting bitch face the entire night after messing up her dance. In all seriousness, she was a flat out BITCH which is a shame because I like her pro, new-to-the-show Keo Motsepe. Check out her misstep below, along with all the other performances.

dwts-season-19-cast

Season 19 of Dancing With The Stars is officially underway. The cast for the upcoming season was announced by Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews (glad she’s back) Thursday morning on Good Morning America. While some of the celebrities were expected (thanks to spoilers), there were still a couple of pleasant surprises.

By far, the star I’m most excited about is The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum Alfonso Ribiero. Can anyone say ‘The Carlton?’ The actor revealed he’d also incorporate a couple of classic Michael Jackson moves in his routines. Ribeiro starred alongside the King of Pop as a kid during a Pepsi commercial. Not only will Alfonso provide plenty of entertainment, but he’s also a viable contender. Team Carlton for the win.

The veteran reality competition show ups its fashion game this season by enlisting fashion vlogger Bethany Mota and iconic designer Betsey Johnson. The latter confirmed her signature cartwheels would be in the mix.

Noticeably missing are recent Bachelorette Andi Dorfman and American Ninja Warrior standout Kacy Catanzaro. The two were rumored to be joining the cast. Check out the entire cast below which includes a former Calvin Klein underwear model, Mean Girls alum, Olympian and wrestler to name a few. Their professional partners were also revealed.

Just like his sister, Derek Hough is trying his hand (or should I say foot) at acting. Not surprisingly he plays it safe for his first film by going with a dance flick.

Like so many movies before it, Make Your Move features two star-crossed lovers from feuding families. His love interest comes in the form of K-Pop superstar BoA Kwon who is also making her acting debut. Hough and Kwon’s respective brothers are engaged in a bitter rivalry because of opposing underground dance clubs. Based on the trailer, it looks like Romeo & Juliet meets West Side Story meets Save The Last Dance.

Rounding out the cast are Will Yun Lee, Wesley Jonathan, Izabella Miko and Dan Lauria. Make Your Move is slated to hit theaters on April 18, 2014. Check out the trailer below which shows a sweaty Hough creatively taking off his shirt during a sexy contemporary routine.

As long as Jack Osbourne doesn’t pull a miracle out of his ass, I’ll be fine with either Corbin Bleu or Amber Riley winning. I just wish the latter was paired up with someone else than Derek Hough. Does he really need another win under his belt. With that being said, I don’t think Amber would’ve done nearly as well without Derek’s insane choreography. He’s definitely the most talented out of the pros.

The show kicked off as the season began, with that wicked group number choreographed by Mandy Moore. After that, each of the stars danced an encore. My personal favorite retreads were Bill Nye’s “Weird Science” and Snooki’s “Work, Bitch.” The latter introduced a whackload of new dance moves. Lady Antebellum, Colbie Caillat, Enrique Iglesias and Swedish duo Ylvis all dropped by for the two-hour extravaganza. Being the cheesefest that DWTS is, everyone got into “The Fox” spirit and donned their faux animal ears. Can we put this novelty single to pasture to keep “Gangnam Style” company?

It’s also worth nothing that viewers picked Amber and Derek’s freestyle as the encore. Is that foreshadowing the winner or simply a red herring? I think the former, but anything can Ellie Goulding happen.

It’s been three years since Tyrell ranked the Dancing With The Stars‘ male professional dancers. Since several new pro hotties have joined the ABC dancing competition since, I thought it was time to reevaluate his rankings. Also, everyone has their own personal tastes and I wanted to share mine. If you’ve been reading the site for awhile now, I’m pretty sure you have an idea who top ballroom dog is in my book. Check out the studs below and be sure to sound off on my choices.

I don’t normally recap Dancing With The Stars, but since I’m enjoying this season so much, I thought I’d give it a try. There’s so many people I’m rooting for. Also, the fact the show airs only once a week now instead of two episodes, makes it much more manageable. I love that the performances and eliminations take place all in one jam-packed night. Much less unnecessary filler. However, the producers still manage to draw out the eliminations with their dramatic lighting and music.

The only thing I don’t like about the new format is the glitter pit replacing the celeb aquarium where the stars watched all the action from above. Also, was it necessary to move the judges to the other side of the dance floor? I digress. Check out week two’s performances below and find out who earned the unwanted distinction of being the first boot.

Meet The Dancing With The Stars Season 17 Cast

In: Donovan, TV Shows

Turns out the rumors were true. Everyone on TMZ’s list is part of Dancing With The Stars Season 17 with a few extra additions. As I had hoped, some male eye candy was added. It comes in the form of Pretty Little Liars actor Brant Daugherty and High School Musical‘s Corbin Bleu.

Speaking of eye candy, my favorite Russian pro dancer Gleb Savchenko isn’t dancing with anyone this year. Former SYTYCD dancer Lindsay Arnold is also missing, along with longtime staple Kym Johnson. Stepping in to replace their shoes are Tyne Stecklein, Emma Slater and Sasha Farber. The latter two were both part of the Dance Troupe for several seasons. Congrats on the promotion.

This year, DWTS is only airing once a week which means both the eliminations and performances will take place on the same night. For those who looked forward to the musical guests, don’t worry. They’ll still appear, but only later in the season when the cast has been whittled away. Without further ado, check out the DWTS Season 17 cast below which was revealed earlier today on Good Morning America.

DWTS Season 16: Week 1 Performances

In: Donovan, TV Shows

After watching the season premiere of Dancing With The Stars, I feel content with the predictions I made prior to the first telecast. Most of the celebrities performed as I thought they would with a couple notable exceptions. Both Andy Dick and Wynonna Judd impressed and entertained with their debut performances. That said, I still think they’re going to be eliminated within the first five weeks.

The stars had to dance either a cha cha cha, a foxtrot or a contemporary on the first night. With no results show until Tuesday, March 26, all of them get a second chance to impress viewers next Monday. Check out all the performances below and find out which ones were my three favorites and worst pick.
