Leona Lewis Joins Cats Broadway Revival

In: Donovan, The Arts

Cats returns to the Great White Way on July 31 at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre. It marks the first revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking musical since its original run closed in 2000.

Nicole Scherzinger, who appeared in the London West End production in 2014, was scheduled to lead the Broadway show but pulled out last second. She opted to do another stint as judge on The X Factor instead. A bit baffling to say the least. Fittingly, a winner from the UK talent show has now been tapped to replace her.

Leona Lewis steps in to play the glamorous cat of them all, Grizabella. If you’ve seen the show, you know the character is famous for the showstopping number, “Memory.”

“It is an incredible honor to be asked by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber to join the Cats family. I will never forget seeing the show as a little girl and how blown away I was by the magical experience of it. I am beyond thrilled for my Broadway debut to be in such an iconic show. To work with a team as legendary as those on Cats is an experience I will cherish every moment of. I cannot wait to see the audiences out in NYC!” – Leona Lewis

Ewan McGregor Set To Star In Fargo Season 3

In: Donovan, TV Shows

Billy Bob Thornton headlined the first season, while Patrick Wilson and Kristen Dunst spearheaded the second. For the third outing of the critically-acclaimed drama, Ewan McGregor has been called to pull double duty. The 45-year-old will play brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. And surprisingly, they’re not twins. Deadline has a description of the siblings. Read below.

“Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, he sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, on the other hand, is more of a cautionary tale. Balding and pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, he has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames Emmit for his misfortunes.” via Deadline

Ewan is the first cast member announced so far. The third season will be set closer to present day than the previous two.

An all-star edition of The Real Housewives franchise is as unlikely as Jill Zarin and Bethenny Frankel being BFFs once again, but never say never, as they say. I for one, would watch it with a bucket of KFC in one hand and some champs in the other.

If it does come to fruition, the cast might not be what you expect. Andy Cohen recently revealed who he would chose to participate. While Frankel obviously makes the cut, I’m a little surprised Lisa Vanderpump nor NeNe Leakes makes the short list.

Watch the video below to learn his picks, and learn which one song he would listen to for the rest of his life, if he had to. Again, pretty surprising.

Elton John Officially Joins Kingsman Sequel

In: Donovan, Movies

His participation has been long-rumored and now it’s official. Elton John will appear in the Kingsman sequel. The 69-year-old is the latest high-profile name to sign up for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He joins Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, and Halle Berry along with returning players Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Colin Firth.

Director Matthew Vaughn has had his eye on Elton for a longtime now. He previously disclosed that he wanted the “Tiny Dancer” singer to appear in a fun subplot in the first film.

“I had an idea of, ‘Who’s the worst celebrity you’d want to have locked in a cell?’ And I came up with Elton John, and having Elton John throwing these huge tantrums. And then I wanted to do an action scene of Elton John kicking the living daylights out of people,” director Matthew Vaughn told ABC News Radio.

Check out John’s Instagram post below, confirming his involvement in the project. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is scheduled to hit theaters June 16, 2017.

At a press conference during the Cannes Film Festival, Dionne Warwick announced an upcoming biopic based on My Life, As I See It: An Autobiography, Dionne. The book chronicled her life from the years 1962 to 1968. The 75-year-old legend also revealed the cast.

Former Destiny’s Child singer, LeToya Luckett would play Dionne, while Danny Glover and Olympia Dukakis were cast as Warwick’s father and Warwick’s mentor Marlene Dietrich respectively. However, the most interesting addition was Lady Gaga. Mother Monster was reportedly selected to play Cilla Black, Warwick’s “musical nemesis.” It appears Gaga’s involvment was false.

Survivor: Kaôh R?ng is just a few days from crowning its winner, but casting for the next two seasons is in its final stages. While the cast for Season 33 will be entirely new players, it’ll be the complete opposite for Season 34. Insider Survivor reveals production is down to a short list of returnees, playing for the second, third and in a couple cases, a fourth time.

Reportedly, the short list is down to about 30 individuals. However, it appears the final cast size of 18/20 castaways will be decided by production and not a fan vote like Survivor: Cambodia (S31). Boo!!! It worked out so well last time.

Jeff Probst and company will film the next two seasons in Fiji. The last time the reality show filmed there was Season 14. Check out the short list below which includes eight previous winners. Nine if either Aubrey or Tai win this season.

Whether you like it or not, Jumanji is getting a reboot. If you’re in the camp that feels touching the Robin Williams classic is sacrilegious, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson promises fans that the late comedian will be honored in the new movie. You know what? I actually believe Johnson.

“The love and respect I have for this man is boundless,” Johnson wrote of Williams on Instagram. “You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of ‘Alan Parrish’ will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way.”

Joining The Rock in the reboot is his Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart. They now have a new member to the cast. The 44-year-old former wrestler took to Instagram to announce the latest addition. Find out who below and what he wrote about his new co-star.

Gael García Bernal Tapped To Play Zorro In Reboot

In: Donovan, Movies

Everyone’s favorite Latin masked swashbuckler is headed to the silver screen again. It should come as no surprise since Hollywood loves a reboot. Y Tu Mama Tambien actor Gael García Bernal has been tapped to play Zorro.

“I have always loved Gael for this role,” Mark Amin of Sobini Films said in the announcement. “Zorro is a hero who is charming, witty, and clever. Gael possesses all those characteristics and he’s able to deliver them with a modern spin to introduce the Zorro character to a new audience.”

Bernal’s version won’t resemble anything like the hero played by Antonio Banderas in two films. Instead, the titular hero will be reimagined as a futuristic hero. It may sound a little cheesy, but with Jonás Cuarón on board, I have faith Z won’t be a trainwreck. After all, he’s the son of Alfonso Cuarón, co-wrote Gravity and also wowed with Desierto at TIFF.

Z marks a reunion of sorts for Bernal and Cuarón. They previously collaborated on Desierto. Would you watch a Zorro reboot? Sound off below.
