If I didn’t know any better, it appears filling the vacated judge seats on “The X Factor” is the job no one wants. Seriously, all the rumored names have dropped like flies. First there was Janet Jackson, but she bailed and then Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie also declined the offer. Both of which claimed it was the arduous amount of time they’d have to commit as the deciding factor. Now, what looked like a sure thing has stalled and most likely not happening.
Negotiations with Britney Spears are apparently dunzo. According to HollywoodLife.com, Britney joining the singing competition is very unlikely. The “Toxic” singer reportedly rejected their $10 million offer and was holding out for double that. Another sticking point was Brit wanted a clause for an out after Season 2, while producers were looking for a two year commitment.
Personally, I don’t know why Cowell would want to lock down Spears for two years without proving she’s worth the cash. I like Britney, but let’s face it, performing live isn’t her strongest suit- singing or speaking. Lip syncing is what she does best. If Britney took the job and received boos like Scherzinger did, I fear Spears would have a relapse and go cray cray again. So with her out, who’s reportedly being wooed?
Although there has been a lot of speculation, nothing has been confirmed regarding the possibility of Britney Spears joining Simon Cowell as one of the judges on The X Factor next season. Now, THR is reporting that they have “a well-placed source” that Brit’s fiance, agent Jason Trawick, is negotiating the contract and it could be signed as early as next week! If this all pans out, I will definitely be watching the show (religiously).
Britney Spears would definitely bring the star power to the panel, not to mention being a proven successful recording artist herself having sold 33 million albums the U.S. and counting. Spears is fascinating on and off the stage, so people would definitely be tuning in to see what she has to say. Being on The X Factor would certainly beat one of her last television projects, “Chaotic” with her ex, Kevin Federline. LOL. Times have certainly changed for the pop princess.
Two unreleased Britney Spears tracks have been leaked by producer Michelle Bell, according to BreatheHeavy.com. The songs were to be included on the “Original Doll” album in 2004, but the album (and songs) never got released. The songs are called “Peep Show” and “Money Love & Happiness“.
Michelle Bell has worked with artists that include Nas, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, Girls Aloud and more. Bell released the songs saying that if she gets enough followers, she’ll release a few new tracks from Britney’s mysterious Original Doll album. Wouldn’t that be a treat?! She produced six tracks for the unheard album.
Check out the two snippets below. Hopefully she releases the full tracks soon!
Today, Madonna will hit the stage at halftime during Super Bowl XLVI, joining a long list of famous musicians who have tackled the monstrous feat. As Madonna has said in multiple interviews, she nervous for the performance as this game is one of America’s biggest moments. You don’t really have an opportunity to mess it up. With so many eyes on her tonight, I thought it would be fitting to take a retrospective look at some of my favorite Super Bowl Halftime shows.
The halftime shows vary from year to year and the act sometimes depends on the location from what I can gather. The show has popped out with artists like *NSYNC, Janet Jackson and Black Eyed Peas and rocked out No Doubt, Aerosmith and of course, U2.
However, sometimes the halftime show strikes out in a major way. For a while, Disney seemed to sneak its way into every show and in turn, made for some creepy performances. A perfect example would be when the New Kids On The Block performed in a It’s A Small World with a shout out to the troops who were deployed in Operation Desert Storm. The result was a complete mess. Hopefully, Madonna has crafted something that will have us talking for all the right reasons. Check out five of my favorite halftime shows below.
According to PRS for Music which collects royalties on behalf of songwriters and composers, Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Outta My Head” is the most played song of the decade in the United Kingdom. The song came out in 2001 and was an instant hit worldwide. It actually doesn’t surprise me at all to learn that it tops the list. It was written by Cathy Dennis, and was turned down by S Club 7 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor before Kylie used it.
The 2000′s are referred to as the “noughties” in the U.K., from the root word “nought”, which is an English word meaning nothing, or zero. The excesses of this decade eventually led to referencing the decade as such.
So what were the other four out of the five most played songs of the “noughties”? Find out below.
The other day I was getting my hair cut by my good friend Adam when he filled me in on the fact that a new Britney Spears song had leaked on Christmas Day. I’ve come to realize that there have actually been two songs released over the past week.
One of the unreleased songs is called “Strangest Love” with Spears singing in the chorus, “Til something changes / It’s a different language / His words say too much / And get in the way, We talk in the strangest love.” To add to that, a clip of a third song called “Secret” has also been released. That one is only a snippet, but it’s left me thirsty enough for the whole beverage.
Get your first Britney Spears fix of 2012 ( that is if you haven’t already heard these two new leaks) below.
Are you giving your head a big scratch at that title? As much as I love Britney Spears, I too am a little puzzled. Rob Sheffield who is the writer of their Pop Life blog just released his list of the Top 25 Songs of 2011. I assumed Adele would once again grace the top of the list. To my surprise, she didn’t even crack the Top 10. Yes, you read that correctly. Atop the list is one of Britney’s non-singles, How I Roll which is easily one of my least favorites from her Femme Fatale album.
Rob’s list is drastically different from the previously published Top Singles of 2011 also released by Rolling Stone. However, there are some tracks on the list that I do thoroughly enjoy that didn’t get much recognition on any year end lists or throughout the year. I am talking about tracks like Rewrite by Paul Simon and Beth/Rest by Bon Iver.
The biggest shock of the list for me is the insertion of Friday by Rebecca Black. I am sorry, but what? Yes, the track was a viral sensation and I’m sure there isn’t one person out there who doesn’t know the lyrics but seriously, #8 on the list? How did that happen? One thing is for sure, Rob enjoys himself some Nicki Minaj. She appears on three of the tracks in the full list. Check out this somewhat whack list of tracks below.
Maybe three times will prove “Lucky” for the “Toxic” singer. US Magazine is reporting that Britney Spears’ boyfriend finally popped the question last night during a romantic private dinner. Jason Trawick was Spears’ manager when they began dating two years ago. He stopped working with her on a professional capacity earlier this year so it didn’t interfere with their personal relationship. Trawick’s other clients include Taylor Swift, Hilary Duff, Haylie Duff and Paris Hilton.
Their upcoming wedding will be Brit’s third. She famously married her childhood friend, Jason Allen Alexander, in a Vegas chapel but was annulled 55 hours later. A few years later, she married backup dancer Kevin Federline with whom she has two boys with. Spears cryptically tweeted her engagement via Twitter this morning:
“OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo”
