Back in January, Britney Spears teased that she was heading to the studio to record a song for her boys. We finally get to hear the fruits of that labor. “Ooh La La” is lifted off the Smurfs 2 soundtrack. Clearly, the track isn’t intended as a club banger or even a radio-friendly single. This one is for the kids ya’ll. With that being said, I’m sure die hard Brit fans are going to eat this up and proclaim it as the second coming. Take a listen below and give your thoughts in the comments section.
This Old School Flashback Battle was inspired by a Facebook thread between a few friends of mine including Dave- a recent guest host on our Homorazzi show. What started as a conversation about Selena Gomez concert tickets (don’t get me started) quickly evolved to the age old debate… Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera? While I find both ladies talented in their own right *cough* Christina is better *cough*, it always fascinates me how passionate people are about either artist. Brit lip syncs, Christina is fat, Spears is crazy, Aguilera is a bitch, the list goes on. That may be all true, but one thing they have in common is both made splashy debuts with their first albums.
While Spears’ …Baby One More Time sold more albums than Aguilera’s self-titled album (14 million compared to 9 million domestically), X-Tina notched more chart toppers than Brit (three compared to one). Christina’s album ranked No. 23 on Billboards 2000s decade chart, ahead of Britney’s ranking of No. 81. To be fair, Spears released hers in the 90s and ranked No. 29 on the 1990-99 decade chart as well.
When it comes to critical acclaim, Christina holds a slight edge. Her powerful pipes helped upset Britney by surprising everyone at the Grammys by winning the Best New Artist Award. In the end, all that doesn’t matter. It’s all about the fans. Regardless of how you feel about each singer today, revisit the singles from each debut album and try to be impartial in determining which ex-Mouseketter had the better first effort.
Oh what the heck, I’m going there. In my last article, I mentioned I’m going through a breakup and I’m coming to realize that several other people I know are too so why not share my list with others. Spring Fever, I guess!
Over the past week, I put in the effort to dig up songs that really spoke to how I was feeling and really help you get through the angry part. Yes, I’m not listening to the depressing types of breakup songs that make you cry. I’m listening to the “eff you” type songs that help build myself back up. I’m sure many of you have had these songs on your playlist at one time or another when going through a breakup, while others may want to add them in right now if they’re going through it now. Enjoy!
Last night, Britney Spears debuted her new brunette look at the Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party. People Magazine reports that complimenting her new look, she work a sparkly black Michael Cinco gown with some Grisogono jewels, and Saint Laurent shoes. Everyone was apparently buzzing about how good she looked.
Britney went brunette back in 2006, 2007, and twice in 2009 and it was hit and miss. If you recall, she had rich dark hair on the cover of her Blackout album. I’d have to say that of all the times she’s gone brunette, this one is the best and she looks fantastic.
Check out her new look below!
Not too long ago, the remix for will.i.am and Britney Spears‘ “Scream and Shout” track came out featuring Diddy, Lil Wayne, Waka Flocka Flame, and Hit Boy. Today, the music video was released and we’ve got your first look below.
I don’t hate the remix, but I don’t love it either. I feel the same way about the music video. That being said, it’s always fun to see so many artists in one music video (seemingly) together at the same time, and of course with Britney Spears in it, I had to watch it at least once. I love the gangsta-style Britney in this video and I guess the way they filmed it gave each of the artists in the collaboration some time to shine.
Watch the video below and share your thoughts on both the song and the new music video in the comments.
A couple of days ago, Britney Spears’ dog Hannah tweeted (yup her pooch has a handle), “Mommy, are dogs allowed to gamble in vegas? Gonna cash all my bones for chips.” If that wasn’t enough of a hint to solidify her Las Vegas residency, her manager’s disclosure to Extra today will.
Larry Rudolph confirmed to the show that Brit is officially headed to Sin City. The 31-year-old singer now joins the likes of Shania Twain, Celine Dion and Cher to have her own permanent show on the Strip. Question is, where? Here’s what Rudolph told Extra.
“Extra” can exclusively confirm that Britney Spears is definitely heading to Las Vegas for a new show. Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told “Extra” that the Sin City show is set, with a choice between two casinos, one of which is part of Caesars Entertainment Group. The deal will be finalized once Britney’s team decides on the casino. The pop star has been in negotiations for several months to set up shop in Las Vegas. A formal announcement is expected in the next few weeks.
Britney Spears is back in the studio today, tweeting that she was working on a new song and driving fans crazy. Of course it’s unclear whether or not by “boys” she means he kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James or her gay fan base, but chances are it’s for her little ones. That being said, she’s said before that her kids love to dance so I have a feeling it’ll be one we can all enjoy regardless.
Spears tweeted, “I’m at the studio recording a new song for my boys. They are going to freak out when they hear it. So excited!” She later added, “It’s a surprise so keep it shhhhh and don’t be grouchy. I’ll fill you all in soon ;)” Can’t wait!
With the mention of “boys,” I thought it’d be a good time to revisit her “Boys” music video directed by Dave Meyers. The video was nominated for at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Video from a Film [Austin Powers], but lost to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Re-live the video below!
The official remix for Will.i.am and Britney Spears‘ “Scream & Shout” song leaked over the weekend and we’ve got it for you to listen to below. The remixed song from producer Hit Boy features Lil Wayne, Waka Flocka Flame, and Diddy.
After the song leaked, Britney Spears tweeted, “I don’t think the world is ready” and then started to tease fans that she was on set working on the music video. “I’m on set shooting the #ScreamandShoutRemixVideo @iamwill @Hit_Boy @iamdiddy @WakaFlockaBSM @LilTunechi redefining remix.” Will.i.am joined in the conversation by adding, “@britneyspears I don’t think the clubs are ready, I don’t think the speakers are ready for the 808′s…I agree with you…#getREADY”. I will say that the remix is totally not what I expected, but definitely falls in line with the comeback of hip hop.
Give the remix a listen below and share your thoughts in the comments on if you like it or not. Can’t wait to see the music video for this!
