The decision for Britney Spears to cover “Tom’s Diner” is pure genius. Let’s be honest. It fits perfectly within her vocal wheelhouse. No one can sing-speak like the 33-year-old entertainer.
“Tom’s Diner” was initially released by Suzanne Vega in 1987 and became a Top 5 hit. It returned back to the charts and surprisingly the clubs in the 90s when DNA did a killer remix.
It appears Spears’ cover for Giorgio Moroder’s forthcoming album follows more in that vein. Her rendition is hypnotically haunting and robotic. In essence, quintessential Brit. Give it a spin below.
It was one of the worst kept secrets regarding the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. Practically everyone and their dog knew Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea were going to perform their new track “Pretty Girls” in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 17.
The “Toxic” singer officially confirmed the performance earlier today by appearing in a promo for the annual event. Spears and Azalea are among a star-studded lineup which includes Kelly Clarkson, Meghan Trainor, Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran and more performing on stage. Check out the video below.
PS. How hilarious would it be if this highly-hyped Britney-Iggy collaboration turns out to be one massive flop? Personally, I don’t think it will, but I also don’t think it’ll reach the heights of “Fancy” or anything during Spears’ glory days. Do you? Weigh in below.
Ever since I heard the first cut, the Kylie Minogue collaboration “Right Here, Right Now” which I love, I’ve been chomping at the bits to hear more from Giorgio Moroder’s highly-anticipated album. With only two months to go before Déjà Vu drops on June 12, we finally get a new song. It’s none other than the title track featuring Sia.
As one would expect, “Déjà Vu” is a disco-tinged masterpiece from the legendary 74-year-old producer. Hopefully, this gets an accompanying music video. If only to see what kind of wig or apparatus the Aussie singer uses to block her face. Too bad, Moroder only previewed a minute. I can’t wait to hear the entire thing.
I’m also curious to hear Britney Spears’ cover of the Suzanne Vega classic “Tom’s Diner.” Quite an interesting choice. Kelis, Matthew Koma, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, Foxes and more have contributed to the album as well. Check out the official tracklist below along with previewing the Sia-assisted song.
She may not have the same magic touch when it comes to album sales when compared to her hey day, but Britney Spears is looking hotter than ever these days. I mean c’mon, those legs are killer on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard magazine. Holy MILF!!!
For the accompanying interview, the 33-year-old singer talks about new music. She reveals she’s working, albeit slowly, on her eighth studio album. Given that Britney Jean gave Spears her lowest debut for a studio set ever at 107,000 copies, I don’t blame her for taking her time. Two bombs in a row would be catastrophic for her career.
“I’m gonna do [a new album] slowly but surely,” Spears tells Billboard. “There’s a lot going on with my kids and schools and, you know, adding new sports and stuff like that. I’m gonna try to do my best to do an amazing album, but it’s not my full priority right now.” The mother of sons Sean Preston, 9, and Jayden James, 8, then added with a laugh, “Kids can drive you crazy.”
Over the years, Britney Spears has delivered several memorable performances at the MTV Video Music Awards. Whether she’s parading around on stage with a huge snake or making out with Madonna, the “Work Bitch” singer always makes headlines. In 2007, however, Spears had everyone talking, but for all the wrong reasons.
The second the awards show opened with a close up of Britney’s track extensions, you just knew it was going to be one hot huge mess. The 33-year-old singer looked dazed and confused as she slowly and awkwardly navigated the stage.
Footage from her rehearsals have leaked in full. It’s quite obvious Spears wasn’t in any condition to perform but MTV proceeded anyway. Poor girl. I will say though, she looks livelier during the rehearsals than the live performance.
The “Gimme More” trainwreck was just the latest debacle for Brit in 2007. That same year she entered rehab, lost custody of her children and shaved her head to name a few missteps. Check out the footage below.
Of all the things Britney Spears has done outside of her music, her lingerie line makes the most sense. After all, she pretty much parades around on stage with not much more coverage.
The 33-year-old previously released promotional photos for her Spring/Sumer 2015 Intimate Britney Spears campaign. Today, a video drops featuring the “Work Bitch” singer delivering breathy poetry while glowing radiantly in front of glass doors. Girl is serving major romance!!! Check out the vid below promoting her Elvira collection.
THIS.IS.EVERYTHING!!! No exaggeration. Waking up to this made getting out of bed much easier this morning.
Christina Aguilera dropped by The Tonight Show to promote her return to The Voice. During her appearance, she played a rousing game of ‘Wheel of Musical Impressions‘ with Jimmy Fallon.
As luck would have it (producer manipulation *wink*), the wheel landed on Britney Spears on the 34-year-old singer’s turn. She delivered a spot-on impersonation of Spears singing “This Little Piggy” to the tune of “(Hit Me) Baby One More Time.” It’s so good it blew Fallon’s mind.
X-Tina also delivered amazing impressions of her Burlesque co-star Cher and her fellow Voice judge Shakira singing the Folgers Coffee jingle and the Golden Girls theme song respectively. Definitely check out the clip below. It’ll make your day.
I don’t know about you, but I feel Shazam is probably one of the best apps ever created. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing a song but not being able to remember the title or artist. Even worse, if you hear it on your favorite TV show and rack your brain trying to figure it out, but still come up empty-handed. Honestly, Shazam has saved me numerous headaches. I also love using it as a makeshift to-download list for songs I need to purchase. The service has been partially credited for Icona Pop’s success. Their hit “I Love It” went on to be Shazamed more than two millions times in the US after appearing on Girls.
In the past several years, Shazam’s activity has increased at an astronomical rate. In 2011, Adele was tops with 4 million Shazams. In 2012, five artists achieved more than five million tags. This year, 43 artists have achieved more than five million Shazams. The popular music tagging service revealed their annual list of most popular tags. Check out the lists below and see if your tagging contributed to the totals.
