american-idol-13-top-15-girls-perform

Just when I thought American Idol was back on track, they pull a stunt like this. Up until tonight’s episode, I was on board with all the changes producers implemented for Season 13. The fact that five girls from the Top 15 were eliminated before having a chance to perform for America’s vote was beyond ridiculous. The entire mess reminded me of poor Lisa Leuschner back in Season 3.

Why even bother dedicating two entire episodes last week to reveal the Top 30. Couldn’t they have just cut it to Top 20 last week and not put five boys and five girls through this cruel punishment. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the judges passed on some of my favorites only to put through some of the more annoying singers- Jena, Jessica and Kristen I’m talking to you.

I will say, however, I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes segments with Randy Jackson, Adam Lambert, Chris Daugherty and the non-denominational spiritual advisors. No joke on the latter. Another saving grace was how honest Harry Connick Jr. was. Way to call out the girls who mistakenly think money notes are enough to advance. Finally, a judge to tell it like it is.

Check out the ten that were allowed to sing, and find out which five experienced the cruelest cut thus far.

American Idol 13: Meet The Top 15 Girls (Spoilers)

With the audition phase officially over, I thought it was the perfect time to share some spoilers I stumbled upon recently. Even though I stopped recapping American Idol after the first week, I’m still tuning in. For some odd reason, the past couple weeks I haven’t been able to catch it right away. I’ll get back into the swing of things when the live voting rounds begin. Also, since I already knew who Season 13′s Top 30 already were, I felt like a fool pretending not to know while posting about the show.

Personally speaking, I love spoilers. It doesn’t take anything away from my viewing pleasure. In fact, it enhances it. I enjoy watching how producers edit the ones that make the cut. You can definitely tell who’s cannon fodder and who the chosen ones are. Without further ado, check out the Top 15 Girls below. I’ve also revealed which girls I’m rooting for.

American Idol 13: San Francisco & Austin Auditions

In: Donovan, Movies

There was good news and bad news regarding American Idol Season 13′s premiere. Let’s start with the bad. The show premiered to its lowest rated season premiere ever, even lower than the inaugural season which had no buzz leading up to it. The opener also clocked in with less viewers than The Voice‘s most recent season premiere for the first time.

The good news, however, is that it’s the first time in Idol’s history that the season premiere was higher rated than the previous season finale. Clearly, fans were willing to give the new panel a chance after last year’s hot mess of a season. In addition, it was the #1 show of the night and most watched among the broadcast networks. I’m still optimistic that Season 13 will prove lucky and the infectious chemistry between the three judges and the awesome talent will entice more viewers to come back.

On Thursday night’s episode, leftover auditions from Austin were bunched in with San Francisco ones. Like the premiere, the second episode featured more hilarious moments with new judge Harry Connick Jr which included him fondling a male singer. I can honestly watch an entire hour with just his critiques and hijinks.

As awesome as Hatchet Harry was (J. Lo’s nickname for him), tonight’s most memorable moment came courtesy of a former American Idol contestant. The show has been around so long now, that we have offspring from former Idols now competing. We’ve officially tapped into the second generation. Insane!!! Find out which former contestant’s child auditioned for the judges below, along with other memorable ones.

Can you believe we’re already into week three of the auditions. January just flew by so fast. Pretty soon, we’ll be crowning the winner of the 12th season of American Idol.

On Wednesday night’s episode, the happy foursome were in San Antonio and Long Beach. I’m so glad they split the two-hour episode between two auditions cities. I really enjoyed last Thursday’s night fast-paced one hour show. When producers only have a limited time to air auditions, they tend to show the more memorable ones and less of the jokers looking for their fifteen two minutes of fame. In addition, Nigel focuses less on the judges and more on the talent.

With that being said, there was a bit of judging drama. Mariah was late arriving on set in Long Beach due to LA traffic, while Nicki was MIA for a good portion of the day due to a prior engagement with the American Music Awards. Depending on how you see it, folks in some instances were lucky to only audition for Keith Urban and Randy Jackson. Check out a few people who stood out during the San Antonio and Long Beach stops below.
