Maybe Barbara Eden did have magical powers after all. Does she have a spell for eternal youth? The I Dream of Jeannie actress dusted off her iconic crop top and harem pants, wowing attendees at the Life Ball in Vienna, Austria this weekend. Considering she’s 78-years-old, Eden looked pretty smokin’. The Life Ball in Vienna is the biggest charity event in Europe supporting people with HIV or AIDS.
It’s been more than 40 years since she hung up her then-controversial genie costume when the sitcom ended its five season run in 1970. With Larry Hagman no longer with us, former President Bill Clinton stepped in as her master at the event. Eden addressed the crowd and performed her classic move: a fold of the arms, a nod of the head and a double blink. WERK GIRL.
Other notable guests at the fundraiser were Fergie, Carmen Electra, Elton John and Kelly Osbourne. Check out Barbara rockin the costume once again below.
The 2013 GLAAD Media Awards took place on Saturday (April 20) in Los Angeles. Drew Barrymore hosted the event at the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. Live which featured a performance by Kelly Rowland.
On hand for the annual event were Leonardo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron, Matt Dallas with his fiance Blue Hamilton, Darren Criss, Alex Pettyfer who gave Betty White a smooch, Chris Evans with his gay brother Scott and many more including Jennifer Lawrence who debuted a brand new hairstyle. The Silver Linings Playbook actress was there to present the inaugural Advocate for Change Award to Bill Clinton for his work campaigning to legalize same-sex marriage.
“I want to keep working on this until not only DOMA is no longer the law of the land, but until all people, no matter where they live, can marry the people they love. I believe you will win the DOMA fight, and I think you will win the Constitutional right to marry. If not tomorrow, then the next day or the next day.” – Bill Clinton
In 1996, the ex-president signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defined marriage as a partnership only between a man and a woman. In recent years, he’s changed his stance and campaigned heavily against anti-gay legislation proposed in various states. He credits his daughter Chelsea and her gay friends for seeing the way. Others honored last night include The New Normal, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Days of Our Lives. Check out all the winners, Clinton’s speech and a few more photos below.
Earlier this week, there was a rumor going around that Monica Lewisky was shopping a tell-all memoir around to some of the major publishing houses. Before I go any further, if you for some reason don’t know who this woman is, let me remind you. She was the White House intern who had an affair with President Bill Clinton when she was 22-years-old when he was in office. It. Was. Scandalous.
Now, 15 years later, Lewinsky has allegedly secured a book deal worth $12 million in which she plans to reveal the details of their kinky rendezvous and how Clinton would refer to his wife Hillary while around her. He would apparently refer to her as a “cold fish” and “laughed” about their “non-existent sex life.” A source tells the New York Post, “In them, she opened her heart about love for Bill and how much happier she could make him. Some of what she wrote was so raw that she never sent them.” Lewinsky is turning 40-years-old next year
Lewinsky was the biggest joke for so long because of this scandal (Molly Shannon used to impersonate her in SNL sketches). Since it all went down, she obtained her master’s degree, worked briefly as a news correspondent and launched a failed handbag line but no one really wants to hire her because of her reputation. Now she’s ready to make some money a different way. Check out an interview she did with Larry King several years ago where she discussed the scandal.
Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Jann Arden, Hedley, Chin Ingeti, The Boom Booms, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and our very own Vancouver Men’s Chorus are just some of the acts that will be hitting the stage at this year’s Voices in the Park.
The concert is to take place on September 15th in Vancouver’s beautiful Stanley Park at Brockton Point. All proceeds will benefit the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver, “which aims to use the power of music to inspire youth in under-served communities by offering free music programs.” Celebrating their 10th year of being in operation they saw 280 students walk through their doors this year. I wish I had known about the school when I was still young enough to attend (grades 4 through 12). It would have been such and amazing experience and it’s also all provided to the students free of charge. Sarah’s goal for the concert is to net $1 million and I for one am going to help her reach that goal. Since I’m part of the Vancouver Men’s Chorus I do get my own entrance but you better believe I will be bringing ALL my friends and family to this. I was going to go before I even knew we were performing so that was just a magical moment for me personally when I found out we would be performing.
When Bill Clinton appeared on the “The Arsenio Hall Show” playing the saxophone, you knew this wasn’t your typical presidential candidate. That unexpected move marked a turning point in his campaign and help build his support with minority groups and the youth vote. Hoping to drum up the same support, Clinton went to Funny or Die to film a viral video for his Clinton Foundation. The 42nd US President enlists a roster of celebrities for his surprisingly entertaining clip.
In the video, Ben Stiller holds a brainstorming session where Matt Damon, Kristin Wigg, Mary Steenburgen, Ted Danson and Sean Penn come up with ideas for the Clinton Foundation. Ranging from the hilarious to the ridiculous, the suggestions frustrate the moderating Stiller. When Clinton calls, Stiller is forced to relay their lack of intelligent ideas. Shockingly, Clinton approves of all the concepts and hails them as being the best he’s ever heard. Watch the clip to see why Clinton is so agreeable. I won’t spoil the ending for you.
After thousands of fans cast their votes through their social network, two winners were crowned PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2011. One of the winners has been a vegetarian since the age of 14 years, while the other attributes the healthy lifestyle to doing yoga, running, and eating tofu and soy. I’ll give you a hint: One of them is NOT Lady Gaga (ahem…Meat Dress!?)
Aside from the top two winners, other celebrities in the Top 10 included Anne Hathaway, Bill Clinton, Joaquin Phoenix, and past winners Olivia Wilde and Leona Lewis among others. So who do you think the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities of 2011 are? See below to find out.
After 30 Rock announced that Season 6 would be their final season, it was only a matter of time before producers and Tina Fey herself started pulling out all the stops to make the it the best season that the show has ever seen. I am expecting huge guest stars and great cameos but to be honest, I wasn’t expecting this.
It has been confirmed that former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice will appear on the show in an upcoming episode. Tina Fey apparently let the news leak at a recent book signing according to the Washington Post. If you remember from season one of the show, Alec Baldwin’s character, Jack Donaghy is secretly dating a woman of power in a long distance relationship. Liz Lemon can’t seem to figure it out, but when Jack gets upset after seeing Condoleezza with Vladimir Putin, the two break up and the word is out.
