Along with crafting hits for himself, Babyface has produced smashes for the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Brandy, Celine Dion, Paula Abdul, Pink and Ariana Grande to name a few. The 56-year-old entertainer was arguably one of the most successful producers during the 90s.

During the 2015 Soul Train Awards, Babyface received the Legend Award which was presented by longtime friend and collaborator L.A. Reid. On stage to sing some of his songs were Boyz II Men, Fantasia, Brandy, Bobby Brown and Tevin Campbell. Babyface even got in on the action as well, singing one of his hits.

No disrespect to the others, but IMHO Fantasia stole the show with her segment. The American Idol Season 3 winner took everyone to church with her rendition of “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” by Whitney Houston and “Superwoman” by Karyn White. Girl absolutely slayed. They don’t make Idol winners like her anymore. Check out the musical tribute below.

It’s no secret I love this beyotch. Her debut album Aquarius introduced her to the world, but her sophomore album, I predict, will catapult her to music royalty. It’ll include collaborations with Diplo, Max Martin, Dr. Luke and more hitmakers. The 22-year-old R&B singer just debuted a teaser for her upcoming LP titled Joyride. The clip shows Tinashe in the desert whispering dialogue.

“A big part of it was the focus going into it, which was that we weren’t going to make a lot of songs, and it wasn’t going to be so experimental. We definitely knew what we wanted going in, and we were a lot more efficient in achieving it. I have so much other stuff going on that we really didn’t have any other options!” she told Rolling Stone about her new album.

As she embarks on her new era, Tinasha gave fans one last morsel from her debut album. She filmed a combo music video for “Bet” and “Feels Like Vegas” with the assistance of director Stephen Garnet. It’s just Tinashe working it out in a tunnel and at an underground parking garage. It’s simple but mesmerizing. Check out the music video below, along with the album teaser.

BET announced it’s developing a miniseries about New Edition. The three-night event will be co-produced by members of the 80s boyband, but with one glaring omission. Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant have all signed on but not Bobby Brown despite being one of the founding members of the Boston act.

“It’s been a long time coming and that time is finally here! Now that we have signed the deal, New Edition’s journey will be captured in a three night miniseries to tell our life story through our very own eyes,” New Edition said in a statement. The boy band added, “We are happy to have New Edition Enterprises collaborate with BET Networks’ Debra Lee and Stephen Hill along with Jesse Collins Entertainment. From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and Jackson 5 – we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you.”

With the actual members on board, the project should be entertaining. The TLC biofilm on VH1 was successful due to T-Boz and Chilli working behind the scenes. I expect a similar outcome here. Production is set to begin in early 2016 with a premiere later that year. Check out some of my favorite tracks from New Edition below.

The Rhythm Nation came out in full force to honor Janet Jackson at the 2015 BET Awards.

Tinashe, Jason Derulo and Ciara performed a killer dance tribute for the 49-year-old entertainer. The trio seamlessly executed iconic choreography from Janet’s “Pleasure Principle,” “All For You,” “If,” and “Rhythm Nation” music videos. This video is a must-watch for any JJ fan.

In addition to the dance tribute, the BET Awards bestowed Ms. Jackson with the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award. Her longtime friends and producers Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam presented it.

“We began a fantastic journey with a friend we celebrate tonight. She came to us a young woman with a lot to say and boy did she say it. She is Ms. Janet Jackson,” Lewis said. Jimmy Jam added, “At the time there were few women demanding respect and sounding so funky doing it. Janet’s music and her vocal expressions were empowering innovative and provocative.”

Though Janet didn’t perform, much to the dismay of the audience, she took to the stage to accept her award.

“Twenty-five years ago, we created Rhythm Nation hoping the world would be a better place. But today there’s even more to be done.” She added, “To all the fans,” she said, “I’ve missed you so much and I love you so much.”

I’m so ecstatic that the “No Sleeep” singer is back. Can’t wait for her new album to drop. Until that hits online, check out the dance tribute after the jump.

Punk’d is the feline species of reality shows. The Ashton Kutcher-created reality series has more lives than your neighborhood alley cat. Once again, it’s rising from the television graveyard.

The hidden camera show which pulled elaborate pranks on celebrities was an instant sensation when it premiered back in 2003. It ran for several years until 2007 before MTV canceled it. After a five-year hiatus, the network resurrected the series, but with Kutcher no longer hosting. He did, however, stay on as an executive producer. Despite the likes of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus taking turns hosting the revived series, the new incarnation only lasted for one season.

Get ready for the premiere of Real Husbands of Hollywood, premiering later this month on BET. It’s a new scripted non-reality show, making fun of the Real Housewives franchise and focussing on the sexy men instead of the women.

The show stars Robin Thicke, Kevin Hart, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon, Duane Martin, and J.B. Smoove and looks freaking hilarious. In one of the promos for the show, the guys each give their own reasons why they believe they are the star of the show and Thicke says that he’s the star because he’s a “sexy bitch“. LOL. There are few other promo videos from the show that I have included, one where another of the “Husbands” explains what a “Mitch” is…. a male version of a bitch. LOL.

Enjoy the funny preview material below and tune into the premiere episode on Tuesday, January 15 at 10/9c on BET.

Next Sunday, July 1, Samuel L. Jackson will front the 2012 BET Awards as the evening’s host. The night will be full of stars from the presenters to the musical performances. D’Angelo is set to make a triumphant return to the stage as well as a striking performance from Cissy Houston. Young Money’s first lady of hip hop, Nicki Minaj will also be taking the stage, but she better watch out for her job because it looks like the evening’s host may be coming for her job.

In a new promo released to promote the night, Samuel L. Jackson dons a signature pink wig to look like Nicki Minaj as he raps the hook to the Roman Reloaded track, “Beez In The Trap.” HILARIOUS! Let’s hope that Nicki performs the track and that Samuel makes a cameo. Wouldn’t that be unreal? Check Samuel L. Jackson’s rapping skills in the video promo below. Will you be checking out the 2012 BET Awards when they air on July 1? Let us know in the comments!

Last Wednesday, news broke that the producer of the majority of Beyoncé’s album 4 had voiced some seriously harsh criticism on his Twitter about his disapproval of Kelly Rowland holding the #1 spot on the Billboard with her track Motivation. His name is Jeff Bhasker and has also pumped out hits for the likes of Alicia Keys and Kanye West.

Slamming the song for it’s weak beat and forgettable lyrics, everyone was waiting for Kelly to lash out on the producer and give him a TKO. Instead, in an interview with BET, she stayed true to Destiny’s Child form and kept it classy like a real star.

“You know what, the record speaks for itself. Opinions are like **sholes, everybody’s got one. He’s made wonderful music with my sister and other artists. There’s no reason for me to say anything negative. ‘Cause I won’t tell you the thought that is really in my head. I’ll just kill ‘em with kindness.”
