We all have obsessions that are hard to explain. Patrick’s currently are all those Harlem Shake videos popping up everywhere. For me, my Achilles’ heel is anything Victoria’s Secret related. There’s something about watching those gorgeous Angels work their magic on the runway, beach or whatever location, that I find really fascinating. What can I say, I like pretty things.
As part of their Swim 2013 campaign, the lingerie brand filmed four stunning swim videos featuring tracks from the hottest artists in the world. The first one featured the ladies strutting their hotness to Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven.” VS recently released the second and third in the series with Candice Swanepoel and crew lip syncing to Maroon 5′s “Woman” and Justin Bieber’s “All Around The World.”
The fourth clip will debut on March 1. In the meantime, check out Behati Prinsloo showing off her bikini body to her boyfriend Adam Levine’s song serving as the soundtrack. Other angels featured include Erin Heatherton, Lindsay Ellingson, Barbara Palvin, Lais Ribeiro, Sara Sampaio, and Karlie Kloss.
Some consider Thanksgiving the start to the Holiday Season, while others wait for December 1st. For me, it’s when CBS airs their annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. No lie. It’s one of my favorite things in the entire world. Mark my words, one day I will attend it front row, hanging out with the supermodels respective boyfriends ;) While not as potent as last year’s telecast, the lingerie fashion show still managed to be the highest rated program of the night in the coveted demo. Congrats ladies.
For me, this wasn’t one of the best outings by Victoria’s Secret. I thought there was TOO much focus on the music acts. Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars all performed two sons apiece. IMHO, the show shines the best when it’s all about the ladies sashaying down the runway to a wicked mash-up. It’s their one time a year to shine. We can watch RiRi and the Biebs on the X Factor, Grammys, AMAs, VMAs and the list go on.
That said, there were a few highlights. The “Circus” theme was brilliant (thanks to the awesome mashup) as was the “Silver Screen Angels“. The giant-sized pinball props for the “Pink Is Us” was also worth noting. Even though a few ensembles from the “Calendar Girls” segment made my Top 15 list, it was the worst theme. When the outfits went wrong, they went horribly wrong. Check out my Top 15 favorites from last night’s show.
I suppose if you’re going to have a rebound, it might as well be another leggy model. Even as a gay man, I’m jealous of Adam Levine dating Victoria’s Secret Angels. Not the sex part, but to have access to the yearly Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Besides the Academy Awards, the annual lingerie extravaganza is my Super Bowl. I’d kill to score tickets to sit first row of that glittered runway. Hell, I’d even sell my first born to hang out backstage. Yup, I’m a gay modelizer.
In April, the Maroon 5 frontman broke up with VS model Anne Vyalitsyna or Anne V for short. The two were in a high profile relationship for two years. Don’t feel too badly for Anne V. The blond stunner has rebounded as well. Reports say, she’s shacking up with actor Jared Leto. Plus her career is on an upswing. She just landed her first acting role in the upcoming “A Good Day To Die Hard“- the fifth installment of the Bruce Willis franchise. Still, she’s probably not happy with Levine hooking up with a fellow VS model. Isn’t there an Angel code or something? Find out who Adam’s new girlfriend is below.
The “2010 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” aired last night on CBS and it was better than ever. It was more glamorous, had more wings, and more segments than years prior. Thank God, the producers decided to nix that awful “Search for the Next VS Model” piece from last year. Talk about useless filler. They expected you to believe your votes actually counted, but the show didn’t even air live. Silly, silly, silly. Do they think VS customers are that dense?
At first I wasn’t too crazy about Katy Perry and Akon as musical guests, but their songs fit the respective segment themes perfectly. And how cute was it when Perry joined the models jumping up and down at the finale. I would’ve loved it though if Akon’s “Sexy Bitch” had opened the show. Let’s face it, all those women up there are sexy bitches. Speaking of sexy, it was a little odd that their wasn’t a segment saluting Heidi Klum’s years as a VS Angel. A few months ago, the saucy German announced her retirement from the lingerie brand. When Tyra Banks quit a few years ago, not only was their a full-on tribute piece to her, but she also go to close out the show in that ridiculous outfit and sceptre. Given Heidi’s many years of service, she deserved a better sendoff.
Speaking of former featured Victoria’s Secret Angels, it was nice to see Selita Ebanks, Karolina Kurkova (who looks amazing considering she just had a baby) and Isabel Goulart on the runway strutting it out. I wonder how it feels to be part of the show and watch your younger replacements receive all the attention. Though I love Ebanks and Kurkova, I’m beyond the moon that Chanel Iman made it as a featured model this year. I’ve followed her career for years now and predicted she would be one to watch. In the end, I guess it’s still an honor to be included even though you’re no longer front and center. These years’ featured models were Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Chanel Iman, Candice Swanpoel, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Lindsay Ellingson, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Behati Prinsloo.
I’m either going to channel my inner straight guy here, or truly out-gay myself with this post. So hold-on tight and figure out which assessment is true. The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired Tuesday night on CBS. I have to admit, the show is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. There’s something about incredibly hot women walking down a glittered runway, while maneuvering other winged Amazonian women, that just screams must-see TV to me. Normally Brian and I have people over and treat the show like a pay-per-view event, but this year we opted not to due to the fact we’re having people over this weekend to warm our home.
For the first time in a few years, the fashion show returned to New York City after Miami and Los Angeles were temporary homes for the past few shows. Overall it was a good show with some interesting themes and costumes. Let’s face it, only a small percentage of the outfits being shown are actually available to purchase at your local mall. The fashion show is primarily a publicity event to glamorize the brand and image and not to actually sell any of the outfits. Not that I’m complaining, since I’d rather see imaginative creations than a simple bra and panty.
