20 years ago when Barbara Walters first began her yearly Most Fascinating People special, Hillary Rodham Clinton, then the First Lady, was the special’s first Most Fascinating Person of the Year. With this year reportedly her last, Walters came full circle and selected Clinton again as the year’s most fascinating. Not only for this year, but Barbara also declared Hillary as her choice as the most fascinating over the past two decades. Definitely a fitting end to an era. Naturally, Walters grilled the former Secretary of State if she planned on running for President in 2016.

Since 1993, Barbara Walters has compiled ten public figures yearly for her annual 10 Most Fascinating People list. The chosen few run the gamut, ranging from fields of entertainment, sports, politics and popular culture. With her retirement forthcoming, the 2013 edition is reportedly her last for ABC.

As always, the number one spot on her list will not be revealed until the television special airs on December 18. Previous figures to earn the distinction as Most Fascinating Person include Steve Jobs (2011), Michele Obama (2009), Barack Obama (2008), J.K. Rowling (2007) and David Petraeus who received the honor in both 2010 and 2012. Find out below which nine people made the Top 10 list this year, but just missed out on the top spot.

The dawn of a new era for The View is here. Gone are Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar. Stepping in to join the three ring circus is blond funny lady Jenny McCarthy. ABC just released the first promo pics for the daytime talk show’s upcoming 17th season featuring its new addition. Judging by first impression, it appears she fits in just perfectly.

Already, she’s fooling around with Sherri Shepherd and poking fun at Barbara Walters. Why there isn’t a photo of Whoopi with Jenny is interesting? Are they already not getting along? Probably not the case, but it is interesting why a promo photo with just the two of them is missing. McCarthy makes her debut as an official host on September 9. Check out the promo photos below.

After months of speculation, it’s official. Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving her spot on The View after ten years. Nine years too long if you ask me. With Joy Behar announcing her departure back in March and Barbara Walters’ upcoming retirement, the long-running talk show will have a major facelift come September. Personally, I think it’s long overdue. With the ABC show dipping in ratings and CBS’ The Talk rising, something major needed to be done.

“We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth, and she will now be swimming in new waters,” said Barbara Walters. “We will miss her and wish her everything good.”

If you’re in the minority and love Elisabeth, you only have one more day to enjoy her on The View. Wednesday, July 10 is her last day. Pretty quick deal if you ask me. IMHO, I think Hasselbeck was always on her way out despite Walters’ denial.

To save face, I think all parties involved waited til Hasselbeck secured a new job before announcing her departure. Speaking of her new gig, she’ll head over to FOX News and join the channel’s morning show, FOX & Friends. She takes over Gretchen Carlson who is getting her own afternoon show on the network.

“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View,” said FOX News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. “She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist, and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”

Forbes has just released their list of the Most Influential Celebrities for 2013 and it’s no surprise that Oprah Winfrey tops the list once again. It’s no surprise given the fact that she has a network, makes her round doing influential speaking engagements (which I had the pleasure of attending about a month ago), and a whole lot of other great things going for her. She also gets some pretty big names for her interviews on Oprah’s Next Chapter, including the recent Lance Armstrong special.

You may wonder how the list is determined and that is by E-Poll Research surveys. E-Poll Chief Executive Gerry Philpott says the term “influential” can mean different things to different people, but most of the time it speaks to someone’s impact on the culture. It’s not always a sign that the celebrity is well-liked. There are some interesting people on the list, like Steven Spielberg, for example. How can he be considered influential as a director? Well one example Philpott says is, “To this day, ask anyone what they think about before going in the ocean,” says Philpott (referencing Spielberg’s 1975 film Jaws).

With this all in mind, check out the list of celebrities that made the top 10 list below.

Who’s Leaving The View?

In: Donovan, TV Shows

I’m truly flabbergasted. I never expected this from this woman. Deadline.com is reporting that one of the ladies is leaving when her contract expires in August. When the site talked to this co-host, she revealed she was leaving to focus on other projects. ABC released a statement stating this woman was instrumental in the success of The View and said the following.

“We wish her all the best in this next chapter, and are thrilled that we have her for the remainder of the season.” – ABC

With Barbara Walters reportedly scaling back her involvement on the show, and this co-host leaving, the panel is definitely going to look quite differently when the ABC daytime talk show returns for a 17th season in September. Find out who’s leaving below.

Mariah Carey recently sat down for a one-on-one interview with Barbara Walters where she talked about her experience on American Idol thus far and with that also talked about the Nicki Minaj feud. The two female judges have apparently since reconciled by are rumored to be sitting on opposite sides fo the panel. Barbara also asked if $18 million was in the ballpark for how much she’s getting paid for being a judge and Carey reluctantly answered that yes, that’s in the ballpark.

Aside from American Idol, Walters asked about her relationship with the sexy Nick Cannon and showed some never before seen clips of the two of them in Paris on the Eiffel Tower. She also talked about how it is raising the twins and about her music career.

The season premiere of American Idol takes place on Wednesday, January 16 & Thursday, January 17 at 8/7c on FOX. Check out the Walters / Carey interview below.
