Just because we don’t recap America’s Next Top Model anymore (Rich has been extremely busy), doesn’t mean we’re not watching it. Rich and myself still love making fun of Tyra and the contestants’ antics each week. With Cycle 20 adding guys in the mix for the first time, I thought I’d ask our readers who they thought the hottest one is out of the bunch. To reiterate, the hottest and not the most modelesque. Those two don’t always go hand in hand in the fashion industry.
For myself, I can’t decide between Phil Sullivan or Mike Scocozza. Both are extremely sexy. I love Sullivan’s scruff and Scocozza’s goofy dimwitted look. What can I say, I like a dumb-looking guy ;) Then there’s also Don Benjamin’s gorgeous eyes and Jeremy Rohmer’s hot body. Decisions, decisions. Check out pictures of all the guys below, minus Chris Schellenger since he was already eliminated. I tried to add pics from both the show and other miscellaneous shots. Be sure to cast your vote after inspecting the goods ;)
Typically, ANTM fans are treated to a new cycle every three to four months. With the ratings nowhere near as stellar as they once were, the CW decided to scale things back and only air it once a year. In the dog days of summer to boot. America’s Next Top Model finally returns to the airwaves for its 20th cycle starting on August 2. The catch-phrase for this cycle is “Who Will Dominate?” Hopefully for Tyra Banks’ sake, the ratings. Otherwise this could be the last go round.
Judges Tyra Banks, Kelly Cutrone, Bryanboy, and Rob Evans all return to the panel to discover fashion’s next big thing… yeah right. Johnny Wujek also booked another cycle as creative director for the photo shoots. For the first time ever, male models were allowed to compete for the crown. It’s about friggin’ time.
With guys now in the competition, the prizes were altered to reflect the new changes. A modeling contract with NEXT Model Management, a spread in Nylon magazine, a campaign with Guess and a US $100,000 cash prize are now the coveted prize package. Gone are campaigns with Nine West and Smashbox Cosmetics and having the honor as the face of the America’s Next Top Model perfume product “Dream Come True.” Check out all the hopefuls below. You know a guy is going to win this year. Just like when Sophie won the British Invasion Cycle. Check out the cast below, along with preview pics for the season premiere.
Previously on America’s Next Top Model, Tyrant did some stuff, some models cried, some new judges came on board, some girls cried some more, and a wannabe was given a relatively pointless title. Other than that, I have no idea. I took the Cycle off. That’s right. Tyrant’s punishment for the debacles that were Angelea’s force fed win slash re-shot ending in AllStars and then AzMarie’s brutal dismissal for refusing to booty touche in the British Invasion cycle and then firing Nigel, I just couldn’t do it anymore. After 17 Cycles of bitchy, fun, and loyal recaps, Tyrant finally wore me down with her nonsense. But I’m back! Fresh from months of blissful ANTM-free life. New boyfriend (woof!), new job (yay!), and the same snarky attitude towards the wannabes. And blessed be… we have boys and girls this year! There better be some chest hair.
Okay. Ready. I’m going to live type this reveal… clicking link now… waiting… oh GOOD LORD. There is some serious heroin crystal chic shit going on! Seriously. My first reactions:
Okay… let’s take a look at these wannabes one by one.
When the CW banished America’s Next Top Model to Friday nights, many fans feared the end was near for the veteran reality show. Proving she’s a cockroach you just can’t kill, Tyra Banks isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The network announced this week that a 20th Cycle has been ordered. Sadly though, we’ll have to wait til Summer 2013 to watch Tyra mold a whole new set of wannabe models. It’s only fitting it’s getting shuffled back to Summer, since that’s where it all began years ago.
While ratings have dipped a little due to it’s new night, they haven’t slid as drastically as many have expected. Perhaps, all of Banks’ changes help stop the bleeding. Speaking of changes, the 38-year-old implemented a whole whackload this cycle, practically reinventing the show.
Nigel Barker was swapped out for male supermodel Rob Evans, Johnny Wujek replaced Jay Manual as photo shoot director and fashion blogger BryanBoy was added to the mix. But the biggest change of all was allowing the public to vote on each model’s photo, thereby making viewers the fourth judge. If you thought the Cycle 19 changes were huge, wait til you see what she has in store for Cycle 20.
