“Not everyone has a happy ending,” says Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper). No truer words have been said. The first official trailer highlights all the adversaries Spider-Man faces in the highly-anticipated sequel. It’s all about the villains. Making sure Peter Parker doesn’t get his happily ever after are Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Harry Osborn aka Hobgoblin (Dane DeHaan).
It’s an interesting move to have Spider-Man battle three foes in the film. One of the biggest complaints of the final film in the Sam Raimi trilogy was that Spider-Man had to budget his time battling Sandman, Venom and Franco’s pumpkin bomb throwing bad guy. Who says superheroes can’t multi-task ;)
If you’re wondering if there will be any other villains for Spidey to battle in future installments, pay close attention to the trailer. Doctor Octopus’ mechanical arms and the Vulture’s wings briefly appear. Perhaps it’s a hint. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014. Check out the trailer below.
I’m not sure how this list was compiled because it seems a little odd. DoSomething.org recently unveiled their annual Top 20 list of “Celebs Gone Good” and Taylor Swift is apparently the most giving in Hollywood. Not to discredit Swift’s generous donations, but is she really the No. 1 charitable celebrity out there? If she is, then the others really need to step up their do-gooding game.
The 23-year-old “Trouble” singer stands atop of the heap due to her $4 million donation to the Country Hall of Fame Museum which is the largest sum ever donated to the organization. She’s also cited for all tremendous work for young people battling cancer and being the youngest person to ever receive the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for her charity work.
Others making the list include Carrie Underwood, Channing Tatum, Ben Affleck and Miley Cyrus. It’s interesting how Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez rank separately, while Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone and Jay-Z & Beyonce are grouped together. There are definitely a couple of surprises including Ian Somerhalder. Not that he doesn’t strike me as a giving person. It’s just you never hear much about his good deeds. Find out who the runner-up is and the rest of the Top 20 below.
In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Harry Osborn was played by James Franco. Now it seems director Marc Webb has found his Osborn for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Reportedly, the new Harry beat out stiff competition for the role. Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet) were just a few names reportedly up for the role. Webb calls this actor “an exciting and extraordinary young actor and he is a fantastic addition to our cast.”
Speaking of cast, Andrew Garfield returns as the masked vigilante as does Emma Stone to reprise her role of Gwen Stacy. For the second installment, Stone has competition for Spidey’s heart. Mary Jane Watson arrives and will be played by Shailene Woodley (The Descendants). Her addition was confirmed previously as was Jamie Foxx’s casting as the villainous Electro. Filming reportedly will begin early 2013 with a tentative release date of May 2, 2014 planned. Find out who’s playing Peter Parker’s best friend below.
Summer blockbuster movie season is beginning to fall upon us and one of the films I cannot wait for is The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. I was a big fan of the original trilogy so I cannot wait to see what is being done with this newest adaptation of the comic book gem.
A new Japanese trailer has surfaced online for the film featuring some new footage not yet seen from the previous US released trailers. Most importantly, we get a glimpse of this film’s villain, The Lizard and more of the film’s plot line and synopsis.
The film hits theaters on July 3. Check out the new trailer below.
Some feel that it’s too soon for a Spider-Man reboot as the third instalment of the previous trilogy was released only five years ago. However, this July, The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters starring Andrew Garfield as the hero in red and blue. The premise this time around is to tell the untold story of Peter Parker and his parents’ disappearance. The synopsis via IMDb explains:
Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner.
In the newly released trailer for the upcoming blockbuster, we get our first look at the relationship between Peter and Gwen Stacy played by Emma Stone. Gwen just happens to be the daughter of the captain of the police force who is out to arrest Spider-Man. That has to make for a tense relationship.
Another prominent story line featured in the trailer is that of Peter and Dr. Curt Connors who we learn is actually The Lizard (played by Rhys Ifans). I am also looking forward to getting to know Peter’s aunt and uncle played by Martin Sheen and the amazing Sally Field. Regardless of it’s too soon for a reboot or not, I am excited to see this flick. Now check out the new trailer below.
If you’re not at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, I’m sure you feel like you are with the large amount of tweets, pictures and videos coming out of the convention. The meeting of all things sci-fi and superhero has brought out a slew of celebs including those previewing their new films to fans who are dying of anticipation to catch a glimpse of what’s to come. The Spider-Man reboot aptly titled The Amazing Spider-Man had it’s preview yesterday and fans were not disappointed.
Before showing a preview of the film through the newly released trailer, the panel made up of cast and production sat in on a Q&A session to give fans a little more insight on the film. But the highlight was when star Andrew Garfield took his turn at the mic, dressed in a spidey-suit. His emotional speech had everyone in the crowd rooting for the underdog. Check out some highlights of what he said below:
We’ve been able to capture a few glances at Andrew Garfield in the form-fitting spidey suit, but now, we are finally able to see it in action with the newly leaked video of the first teaser trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man.
While the quality is low and super bootlegged, we can still appreciate what’s going on. This is our first look at Peter Parker developing his skills in high school years. This reboot is said to be more based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series and has been described as being a little more gritty than the previous three films. After the original Spiderman 4 was cancelled, Sony announced that they would reboot the film with fresh cast and creative.
By the looks and sounds of this trailer, I think it’s going to be an amazing film. I’m sure it will fair better than Spiderman 3 did that’s for sure. The only thing I’m not sold on is at the end of the trailer when I’m taken on what feels like a 4D ride at Universal Studios. However, I’m sure that I can get over it and enjoy the film as a whole.
One of the magazine covers I look forward to most during Awards Season, is Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood Issue. Since 1995, the cover has highlighted Hollywood and the big players, fresh new faces or the “It” actors currently generating buzz. For their 17th annual issue, Vanity Fair has gone back to basics and to old school glamor. To be specific, the glamour of 1930s Shanghai, an era of smoky, alluring elegance.
“We had the gentlemen looking dashing in black tie, whilst the ladies were radiant in spring’s gowns—from Gucci to Yves Saint Laurent—and glittering with diamonds from Chanel and other arbiters of glamour.” – Style director Jessica Diehl
In the past, they’ve sometimes featured teenagers, nudity and even penguins. Yup. penguins made it in 2007. This year, they’ve focused on the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment. Taking stage front and center (or in this case the left side) are Oscar co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Joining them on the coveted section are Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal. Traditionally, Annie Leibovitz has taken the group picture, but this year photographer Norman Jean Roy shot the cover. The whole process took two days and was shot in New York and Los Angeles.
Others included on the cover include Jennifer Lawrence, Anthony Mackie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Eisenberg, Mila Kunis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Garrett Hedlund, Noomi Rapace and Robert Duvall. WTF? What is he doing there? On a side note, I’m glad Noomi Rapace, the star of the Swedish version of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and Mila Kunis made the cut. Check out the full cover, along with all previous Hollywood Issue covers below.
