Well it’s here. After months of competition, a couple weeks of reruns and recaps, endless drama and some of the best/worst drag I’ve seen on tv we have a winner for the 5th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Before we get to the winner let’s recap a bit or the reunion shall we?
As is tradition we have a reunion episode where we get one last moment to see our Season 5 queens on the tube before they disappear into reality TV history (except for Alyssa, who is getting her own spinoff ALLEGEDLY!). I have to tell you I actually completely forgot that half of those queens were even on the show. But I guess that’s what happens when you get eliminated at the beginning.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5 comes to a close tonight. Who will take it all? Alaska, Jinkx Monsoon or Roxxy Andrews? Before RuPaul crowns “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and “Miss Congeniality,” all fourteen queens sit down to rehash all the drama served throughout the season. And there was plenty of it.
With regards to any reality show, it’s all about the reunion shows. After seeing all the confessionals, I’m sure all the queens will have plenty to say. The reunion special where the winner was announced taped on May 1. All the Season 5 contestants along with fan favorites from previous years donned their fiercest outfits on the red carpet. I personally liked Detox’s look the best. I literally had to do a double take when I saw her monochromatic makeup. I thought it was due to some black and white Photoshop magic. Alas it was all her. Check out all the looks below from this season’s crop and cast your vote on who werked it out the best.

Confession time. With exception to only a couple of episodes, I haven’t really been watching Season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The only way I keep up to date with everything is from Tommy’s weekly interviews with the eliminated queen. Based on his level of excitement for the phone call and line of questioning, I can pretty much figure what transpired. After watching this brilliant fan video, I’m making it a priority to watch the fabulousness that is Alyssa Edwards.
B. Ames remixed all of Alyssa’s memorable quotes from this season and created an awesome little track called “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” Keeping it real, it’s a lot catchier than most of the produced singles by former Drag Race contestants. Props to Matthew Bell as well for editing such an entertaining music video.
It’s easy to see why Alyssa Edwards is a fan favorite. With her hilarious facial expressions and even more hilarious one-liners, this woman is reality gold. It’s no wonder, a rumored spinoff is in the works. RuPaul even brought Edwards with him for the MTV Movie Awards last week. When questioned why Ru invited Alyssa, he sent a tweet seemingly confirming Alyssa’s show. Check out “Drop Dead Gorgeous” below. I guarantee you’ll love it.

I woke up yesterday in an awful mood. I was cranky, I didn’t want to go for my run, I didn’t want to go to work I was just not into it.
Enter ALYSSA EDWARDS.
Now I have made it VERY clear where I stood with Alyssa from the beginning of this season, she wasn’t one of my favorites but then she grew on me and by the time she left I found myself quoting her one liners, doing the Alyssa Face in the mirror and just living for everything she was giving me on that show. We had a 20 minute interview and it is definitely in my top 5 favorite interviews ever. By the time it was over I was in a great mood.
I’m going to miss you on my TV Alyssa but because of you I now know what to say to someone when they wear too much bronzer.
GIRL, look how orange you fucking look GIRL!

Honestly a week without RuPaul’s Drag Race was torture. I can’t believe how boring Monday nights are without it, I have no idea what’s going to happen in May once the show is totally over.
After a week off I was ready for these bitches to turn it, and they did. This week was another group challenge and it was very clever: a TELENOVELA, hysterical. First though we had the mini challenge which was a crying on cue challenge, however Detox made it very real when she talked about her ex boyfriend who has died, a very real vulnerable moment for the strong Detox was incredibly beautiful. She had won the mini challenge along with Alyssa.
The queens were separated into two groups with Detox and Alyssa being captains. Detox has reassembled Rolaskatox and Alyssa got Coco and Jynkx who have been having some drama. The telenovela was directed by RuPaul and legend Maria Conchita Alonso with a special appearance by Wilmer Valderama who despite being a Latin star was absolutely beige in this challenge, yawn.

Lots happened in this episode. Alaska finally won a challenge, we have a possible new showmance, and once again Coco was acting like a FOOL because she’s a big baby!
After last week’s non elimination the queen’s were getting a bit restless with it still being the top 7 but what are you gonna do. We had a nice little confession from Roxxxy saying that she targets Jinkx as a way of lashing out so I’ll give her points for owning up to it, but this episode again seemed to be all about just hating on Jinkx, especially from baby Coco. We’re going to get to that later, we gotta talk about what happened during the main challenge.
After a mini challenge with a bunch of Andrew Christian models (Memory with underwear) the main challenge was revealed: Create your own fragrance, design the bottle and shoot a commercial. I was definitely into it. It was going to be interesting to see who could pull it out creatively. As the work starts I noticed a little spark between Ivy and Jinkx which was really cute! We later find out that Jinkx has a total crush on Ivy…CAN YOU IMAGINE! A LOVE CONNECTION ON DRAG RACE! I AM INTO IT DARLING!
I LOVED THIS EPISODE! It was SO funny and it was such a good idea for the “live audience” episode that they do once a season usually. It was also the reading challenge which I’m happy to say this season was amazing. Everyone did a good job and Alaska outshone them all. It was also the episode where Alaska separated herself from Ro-Laska-Tox which was the little girl group of Roxxxy, Alaska ans Detox. Last week Michelle made it clear that cliques weren’t the way to go so she decided to go Beyonce on their ass, and she won a mini challenge.
However the mini challenge doesn’t really mean anything because the MAIN CHALLENGE is what’s important. The challenge this week was the RuPaul Roast! YES! They all had to come up with jokes to roast RuPaul, all the judges and each other. This was going to be a very important challenge because if you can’t read a bitch as a drag queen, what are you doing in drag? (Ok so it’s not THAT important, but it is a good skill to have).

I mean Amen.
My review of RuPaul’s Drag Race this week is going to be a bit brisk because I just came back from Emerald City Comic Con and I am WIPED (a nerd alert is coming this week about it). What did we learn in this week’s episode? Most drag queen’s can’t sing, Detox is 90% silicone & Coco Montrese wants to have her cake and eat it too!
This week’s mini challenge was make up in the dark which was hysterical. Detox won because her make-up is essentially paint by numbers flawless. So she got to choose the 3 teams for the singing challenge. She obviously chose Roxxxy and Alaska for her team, Ivy Jinkx and Jade Jolie were together and Coco and Alyssa were paired up. The main challenge was a “We are the world” style number called Can I get an Amen? There were challenged with writing a verse, and coming out with an 80′s style look for the live music video.
