Last week, rumors that another veteran from the original X-Men trilogy joining X-Men: Days of Future Past surfaced. They were started by none other than James McAvoy who plays the younger Charles Xavier in the reboot series. The 33-year-old Scottish actor slipped up by including Alan Cumming’s name with Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman and others as coming back to the franchise. Cumming appeared as Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler in 2003′s X2. Turns out those rumors were false… or were they.
Cumming revealed that he hadn’t “gotten the call” from Bryan Singer. Since the rumors surfaced, the director has neither confirmed nor denied Cumming’s addition. In a photo released via Twitter, however, Singer did reveal a few casting additions not previously released. One of which is Daniel Cudmore who played Colossus in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. Glad the Canadian star is back in the fold. He’s one tall drink of hotness. Find out the other newbies joining X-Men: Days of Future Past below.
After weeks of speculation that he was the frontrunner to play Finnick Odair in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it’s now official. Lionsgate has formally announced that British actor Sam Claflin nabbed the coveted role. The 26-year-old beat out several contenders including Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Trevor Donovan (90210), Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class). Finnick is a former winner of the Hunger Games and competing against Katniss in the Quarter Quell. In the book, Katniss first meets Finnick while he’s wearing nothing but a fishing net with some strategically placed knots. I’m pretty good at untying knots ;) He’s so ridiculously cute. Hopefully, the film’s director stays true to the book and incorporates this scene.
Since Sam Claflin is officially on board, I thought it was the perfect time to get to know this rising star. Claflin was born in Ipswich, Suffolk to an accountant father and classroom assistant mother. His very first role was in the mini-series The Pillars of the Earth in 2010. But it was his role as Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides that showed his potential as a huge movie star. Since then he’s been landing role after another. Earlier this year he co-starred with Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart in Snow White & The Huntsman. Now, he’s set to appear in the next three Hunger Games film hitting theaters in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
“To be gay, or not to be gay, that is the question.” - Shakesqueer.
A guy I used to be friends with- and who was my boss at one time- used to work in the film industry, and when I told him I was going back to school to study acting for film & television, he told me that I better stay in the closet. Whaaaa? After more than 20 years of hiding in the closet, I was supposed to go back in? And this guy was gay too! An openly gay guy telling me to open the door, slide the coat hangers to the side, and step back inside the dark, lonely room… Read the rest of this entry »
