The already huge X-Men: Days of Future Past cast is getting even bigger. On the heels of the first look at Halle Berry as Storm, director Bryan Singer’s Twitter account revealed another casting addition. While attending a Montreal Canadiens hockey game, a picture of Shawn Ashmore, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart and Singer wearing personalized jerseys was taken. Included in the bunch was this Following actor. Find out who below.
Logo recently announced the nominees for their annual NewNowNext Awards. Now in its sixth year, this highly praised and always unpredictable telecast is one big party that grants the gay stamp of approval to pop culture icons and trendsetters as well as stars-on-the-rise and celebrates what’s hot in TV, music, film and fashion for 2013 and beyond.
If you haven’t watch the NewNowNext Awards, they’re a lot of fun. With irreverent and outrageous categories including “Hottest, Sexiest Ink,” “Host with the Most,” “That’s My Jam” and “TV You Betta Watch,” the ceremony is always fun to watch. My personal favorite is the “Cause You’re Hot” award. All of the nominees are definitely worthy of the win. I covered the red carpet and ceremony a couple of years ago and think its time to check them out again. Especially given the caliber of the nominees. I love star gazing.
Winners will be revealed Monday, April 15th at 10/9C, during the 90-minute Logo NewNowNext Awards 2013 telecast. The special will be taped in front of a live audience of today’s hottest emerging and seasoned artists at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA on April 13th. Performers, presenters and special guests will be announced in the coming weeks. Check out all the nominees below.
There’s no denying that Mondays can be a bitch. It’s always hard to go back to the office after having a fun-filled weekend. Thankfully, two brand new shows make starting the week a bit easier for me. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy The Carrie Diaries and The Following as much as I do. And that’s before both shows featured two gay kisses during last week’s episode. Since a new episode of each airs tonight, I thought it was a perfect time to blog about aforementioned smooches.
On The Carrie Diaries, Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) and her best friend Walt (Brendan Dooling) celebrated Halloween in NYC. At the party, they meet Interview writer Bennett (Jake Robinson). During a chat, Bennett leans over and gives Walt his first man-on-man kiss. Still struggling to deal with his sexuality, Walt runs and heads back home to have sex with his ex-girlfriend Maggie (Katie Findlay). Side note: Check out our interview with Katie.
Over on The Following, two straight aspiring serial killers Will (Nico Tortorella) and Billy (Adan Canto) pretend to be gay to befriend a victim. After a series of flashbacks, we learn that during a drunken night, the two actually hooked up. This eventually leads to Billy developing real feelings for Will. Check out their angst-ridden kiss below, along with the Carrie Diaries’ one.
Did you watch the premiere of The Following on FOX this week? The serial killer drama lived up to its hype, especially the gory violence. I was definitely squeamish a certain points. If you haven’t watched it yet, I won’t spoil things too much, but I highly recommend it. Hopefully, the show can maintain the quality of action and suspense in the pilot episode throughout the season. Since I’m already hooked on the show, I thought I’d pit the show’s gay couple against each other in our latest Who’d You Rather battle. May the hottest man win.
First up is 24-year-old Nico Tortorella (left). I first noticed the Illinois native when he briefly starred in The CW’s ill-fated The Beautiful Life back in 2009. The former male model soon found work on both television and film. Tortorella appeared in ABC Family’s Make It or Break It and in the fourth installment of the Scream horror franchise. Nico obviously impressed Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson. He hired Tortorella again for his new creation, The Following.
Adan Canto (right) is an actor hailing from Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico. The 31-year-old Latin heartthrob appeared mostly in Mexican films before landing his role on FOX’s The Following. Canto made his film debut at the age of nine in Like Water For Chocolate. In addition to acting, Adan is a professional singer and plays the guitar and piano.
Now that you have a brief background on each stud, check out a few photos before picking Who’d You Rather. Not trying to sway the vote in any particular way, but I love me some Tortorella. I picked him as my Man Crush a few years ago. Watching him on The Following has inspired me to update that post in the near future. Enough campaigning, check out both guys below.
