brandy-magic-coldplay-cover

Who knew Brandy was such a Coldplay fan? The 35-year-old singer gives the band’s track, “Magic,” a soulful R&B makeover. The result is something truly, excuse the pun, magical.

I forgot how gifted a vocalist the former Moesha actress is. It’s clear, Brandy took this song cover seriously given that she took the time to record a studio version. Hopefully, this is a sign of new music to come from Brandy.

If a new album is on the way, it’s probably going to be on the independent front. Brandy’s last studio album, Two Eleven, performed so abysmally, both Epic Records and RCA dropped her from their respective rosters. Girl needs to deliver a hit LP and make her former bosses regret ever doubting her ability for a comeback. She’s too good to just give up. Brandy FTW. Give her cover of “Magic” a listen below.

In the coming months, you’ll see Daniel Radcliffe in two very different roles. He’ll first star in the romantic comedy, What If, opposite Zoe Kazan. Around Halloween, he’ll take on a very devilish role.

The former Harry Potter actor plays Ig Perrish who is suspected for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple). After a night of hard drinking, he awakens to find horns starting to grow from his own head. With the horns, comes paranormal abilities. He uses his new-found powers to uncover the real killer.

Archie Dies Saving His Gay Friend Kevin Keller

In: Donovan, Totally GAY!
archie-comics-death

R.I.P. Archie Andrews. Everyone’s favorite redheaded teenager is dunzo. At least in the comic book series, Life With Archie, set in an alternate universe he is. The series depicts possible futures for Riverdale’s characters. In the penultimate issue, Archie dies in heroic fashion.

Issue #36 which hits newsstands Wednesday, Archie is gunned down while trying to stop an assassination attempt on his friend, Kevin Keller. The openly-gay character who is a military veteran is now a senator in favor of gun control.

Archie Comics co-CEO Jon Goldwater said his death is meant to “epitomize not only the best of Riverdale but the best of all of us,” and that he hopes that it works as “a lesson about gun violence and a declaration of diversity in the new age of Archie Comics.”

ting-tings-wrong-club

The Ting Tings burst on the scene with their be wicked debut, We Started Nothing back in 2008. That album spawned numerous hits including “”That’s Not My Name,”"Great DJ” and “Shut Up And Let Me Go.” The English band returned a couple years later but with a less successful effort even though scoring a moderate hit with “Hands.” They’re back and better than ever with the lead cut off their forthcoming third studio album, Super Critical.

Ditching their indie rock pop vibe, the Ting Tings have opted for a more commercial disco sound. The dance funk “Wrong Club” is sensational. I immediately loved it after hearing it once. For the accompanying visual, frontwoman Katie White dances solo in an abandoned warehouse in Paris with spotlights flashing around her. The Lisa Paclet-directed video is very reminiscent of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” video. Check out the video below.

The CW’s decision to only air America’s Next Top Model once a year was a wise one. I actually miss all of Tyra Banks’ “insightful and sage” advice to aspiring models. Dare I say, I also miss her ridiculous terms she invents.

On August 22, all the fashion action returns. Smartly, the show opted for a second cycle of “Guys and Girls.” Last season, not only provided lots of drama but plenty of male eye candy. This year’s crop doesn’t disappoint.

After sitting out for two cycles, popular judge, J. Alexander, returns to the panel, taking over a departing Rob Evans. Photographer Yu Tsai replaces Johnny Wujeck during the shoots. Though I love Wujeck, the creative quotient of the shoots since Jay Manuel left, haven’t been as fantastic. This year’s international destination is Seoul, South Korea. Check out the promo touting J. Alexander’s homecoming below.

weird-al-yankovic-tacky-video

30 years after Weird Al Yankovic released his smash “Eat It” parodying Michael Jackson’s “Beat It,” the 54-year-old entertainer is still poking fun at some of the music industry’s biggest hits. His latest gem spoofs Pharrell Williams‘ infectious “Happy.”

Yankovic pulls out an assortment of tastefully tasteless fashions for the “Tacky” music video which premiered at the Nerdist.com earlier today. Joining him, wearing all the mismatched wardrobe ensembles are Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black.

Filming took place at the historic Palace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, the same space that was used as Julianne Moore’s apartment in The Big Lebowski. Check out the video below.

FX just released the first teaser for American Horror Story: Freak Show. Undoubtedly, this will be one of many more to come from the network if they follow the same promotional strategy used for Coven. Titled “Fallen Angel,” the clip shows a melancholy angel rising to spread her wings, as an ominous figure stands behind her.

The highly-anticipated season takes place at a 1950s carnival sideshow in Florida, run by a German woman played by Jessica Lange. Newbies Michael Chiklis and Wes Bentley join returning AHS alums including Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson. Check out the first promo below.

UDPATE: According to Vanity Fair, the promo is a fan-made one. #boo. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty good one. Check it out below.
