90210 alum AnnaLynne McCord premiered her directorial debut effort this week. I Choose is a short film that tackles human trafficking. It’s a topic McCord is passionate about. She recently revealed in an essay for Cosmopolitan that she was the victim of sexual assault when she was 18-years-old.

“When I was on ’90210? a few years ago, the character I played, Naomi, was raped by someone she knew. I welcomed the story line, thinking it was important for viewers. I memorized my lines and rehearsed the scenes. I felt ready to go. Then when the cameras were rolling on an intense scene — a fight with an unsupportive friend after the assault — I broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. My castmates thought I had done a great job playing the part. They had no idea that I had actually been sexually assaulted by someone I knew in real life.” – McCord

McCord enlisted her real-life boyfriend Dominic Purcell to star in the project which she also wrote and produced. The silent, 10-minute, black-and-white clip illustrates the difference between women who choose sexual adventures — and those who are forced into them against their will. I Choose was inspired by “the personal stories of the resilient survivors of the Cambodian sex trade.”

In addition to spreading awareness, the campaign is hoping to raise funds for Lotus House, a 5-story home she’s building for Cambodian sex slave survivors who are in search of a “new beginning.” Watch the film below.

If a song sounds great no matter what genre, that’s usually a sign how great it’s written. Coming off his well-received performance at the recent CMT Awards, John Legend has released a country studio version of his massive hit, “All Of Me.”

Just like the CMTs, he enlisted Sugarland vocalist Jennifer Nettles to duet with him on the ballad. Whether with a monster dance beat thanks to a killer Tiesto remix, or a twangy folky guitar arrangement, the piano ballad sounds fantastic. Nettles and Legend’s vocals harmonize beautifully over Hunter Hayes guitar strumming. Give it a listen below.

Brad Pitt commands a Sherman tank called “Fury” for the forthcoming World War II film, aptly titled Fury. Producers debuted the first footage at the E3 Expo this week. The drama also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Michael Peña, Jason Isaacs, and Scott Eastwood. It is scheduled to hit theaters in the UK in October and the US the following month.

The film is set during the last months of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, Pitt leads his five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, they face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Check out the video below.

Mel B. Returns To The X Factor Family

In: Donovan, TV Shows

Series 11 of The X Factor UK is about to get a lot scarier. Scary Spice that is.

Mel B. has officially been confirmed as the fourth judge, sitting alongside Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell. The 39-year-old has previously judged the Australian version for two seasons and appeared during the UK’s ninth season during one of the audition stops. This marks her debut as a full-time judge on the British version.

“I’ve always thought honesty is the best policy when being a judge and that’s what I’m going to bring more of this year,” she said. “Whether it’s spotting an incredible singer, giving someone a reality check or debating with Simon over who’s got it wrong.” – Mel B.

Sample Lana Del Rey’s Ultraviolence Album

In: Donovan, Music

Ultraviolence drops next week on Tuesday, June 17. Ahead of its release, Lana Del Rey has released an album sampler on VEVO. If you’re looking for the feel-good album for the Summer, this one isn’t it. Del Rey stays true to her melancholic ways with the 11 tracks found on the standard edition.

While it’s difficult to make snap judgements based on 20-30 second snippets, a few early standouts include “Money Power Glory,” “Pretty When You Cry” and previously released “West Coast” and “Shades Of Cool.” Preview the album below and weigh in afterward.

It’s been 20 years since Jim Carrey played the loveable dimwitted chip-toothed Lloyd Christmas. This Fall he reunites with Jeff Daniels for the long-awaited Dumber And Dumber sequel.

Based on the first trailer which premiered on The Tonight Show, Dumb And Dumber To contains all the grossness and crude humor from the original. Some highlights include a catheter being yanked out, cat’s anus being flaunted and Carrey fingering an elderly woman’s dusty vagina. If that piques your interest, definitely check out the trailer.

It’s wise for Carrey to revisit one of his popular classics. Lord knows the 52-year-old Canadian actor needs a hit. It’s been a decade since he’s scored a box office hit with the one-two combo of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events back in 2004. Here’s hoping this film does better than his last headliner, Kick-Ass 2. Watch the clip below.

La Roux Teases Another Single Off Forthcoming Album

In: Donovan, Music

Everything I’ve heard thus far off La Roux’s forthcoming album Trouble In Paradise has absolutely been perfect. Her latest buzz single “Tropical Chancer” continues that trend. While “Uptight Downtown” is still my favorite, this latest gem is another winner.

If at first listen it reminds you of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” frontwoman Elly Jackson recently told Rolling Stone that she listened to classic disco tracks featuring Nile Rodgers while making the new album. She added, “It’s got all the sexiness of disco, but I wouldn’t say that it’s like classic disco that a lot of people think of when you say the word disco.” Give it a spin below and weigh in afterward.
