Leighton Meester Debuts New Track ‘Heartstrings’

In: Donovan, Music

Leighton Meester assisted Cobra Starship on their Top 10 hit “Good Girls Go Bad” back in 2009. Naturally, the former Gossip Girl actress attempted a solo recording career after that. Sadly, none of the tracks including a duet with Robin Thicke nor songs on the Country Strong soundtrack fared well on the charts.

The 28-year-old is surprisingly launching another attempt at music stardom. She shared a new track titled “Heartstrings” with Billboard. It’s off her forthcoming debut LP scheduled to be released on October 28.

“‘Heartstrings’ speaks to vibe and encompasses a lot of the themes of the rest of the album,” Meester tells Billboard. “It’s been a long time coming and I’m very excited to finally release it.”

Meester was most recently seen on Broadway in a well-received stint in Of Mice and Men. Give her latest a listen below. It’s in the vein of artists such as Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell.

Rumors of an all-female Ghostbusters film have been swirling for some time now. Even original star Bill Murray has caught wind of this. Though he won’t star in Ghostbusters III, the 63-year-old legend shared his ideas on who those leading ladies should be during an interview with the Toronto Star. Find out who below.

As she prepares to give birth to her second child, Alicia Keys couldn’t help but think about the world she’s bringing her baby into. The 33-year-old singer decided to put her thoughts in a brand new track titled, “We Are Here.” She talks about Gaza, Israel, Nigeria and other conflicts in the world today.

Whether this introspective ballad is the signaling of Keys’ new era, who knows? I’m thinking most likely not and it’s just a stand-alone single. Check out the accompanying music video below which Alicia premiered on Facebook this week, along with a detailed description about what inspired the reflective track.

Andrew Rannells is currently playing the titular transgender rocker in the Broadway revival. Production tapped the Book of Mormon star for a limited eight-week engagement after Neil Patrick Harris left after winning a Tony. Beginning October 16, Micheal C. Hall takes over until January 2015.

Production was reportedly to end after Harris’ engagement. It appears box office receipts are still doing well after his departure. The cache of winning all those Tonys is probably helping propel ticket sales.

In case you’re wondering if Hall has the chops for the role, he does. The former Dexter actor, in the past, has taken over roles in other Broadway productions including Chicago and Cabaret. For the latter, he sported some serious amounts of makeup. Check him out playing the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret below, along with a vocal performance from the HBO series, Six Feet Under.

Nick Jonas Drops Catchy New Track ‘Jealous’

In: Donovan, Music

Nick Jonas channeled Justin Timberlake on “Chains.” For his follow-up, the 21-year-old does his best Miguel impression. Based on his newest track, “Jealous,” it’s clear Jonas is fully embracing R&B for his forthcoming album.

Jealous” was written by Jonas with the collaboration of Simon Wilcox and Nolan Lambroza. He previously described the track as “new-agey Lionel Richie” to Billboard. Nick added he wrote the lyrics after a night out with his girlfriend, former Miss USA/Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.

It’s a tad troubling he’s hurrying the release of “Jealous” relatively soon after premiering the video for “Chains.” Both singles are potential hits, IMHO. If sung by different artists, I have no doubt they’d get major airplay. It’s clear his new direction isn’t vibing with his fans. Personally, I’m loving the urban sound on Nick. Give “Jealous” a listen below.

Check out the lyric video for their first single “You and Me” below. It’s a nice acoustic ballad. Folk music suits P!nk quite well.

What’s a dick graze and what’s its purpose? Channing Tatum is here to explain it to you in a new promotional music video for 22 Jump Street. It involves… you guessed it, grazing your bro’s crotch. It’s apparently a new gesture to celebrate your bromance. Proceed cautiously though. It’s a fine line between a graze and a grab.

Ladies, don’t feel left out. Tatum’s co-star Jillian Bell joins in on the action and raps about the female equivalent. Watch the hilarious music video below to find out. 22 Jump Street hits iTunes on October 28.

Jennifer Lopez definitely ‘luhs’ her Papis younger. I don’t blame the 45-year-old superstar. If Ryan Guzman, of Step Up fame, lived next door, I’d one hundo hit that, even with all the crazy ;) Dude is beyond fiiiiiiiine.

The first trailer for The Boy Next Door has dropped. Lopez plays a high school teacher who has an affair with her teenage next door neighbor. She gets up close and personal with Guzman’s washboard abs and other sexy body parts. Things turn really nasty when he becomes extremely obsessive. Think Fatal Attraction without the bunny.

Kristin Chenoweth, John Corbett and Hill Harper also star. The thriller hits theaters in January. Watch the trailer below. With lots of double entendres like “I love your mother’s cookies” and “It got pretty wet here,” this is definitely guilty pleasure watching.
