Friends of Homorazzi, and long time supporters of LGBT rights Kimpton Hotels have announced an amazing contest that everyone and anyone in Colorado should enter. If you’re sitting at your computer in CO and thinking, “I could really go for a wedding right now”, then the Hotel Monaco Denver has the answer.
Since the recent passing of the Civil Unions Act in Colorado, I’m sure a hell of a lot of people have been bolting to the altar. The Hotel Monaco wants to make it easier for you and your partner and throw you a wedding worth upwards of $20,000 just for a hundred word essay and a picture. Cake, DJ, booze, food catered by the amazing Panzano restaurant, vintage furniture, flowers, photography, event space, you know name it, you got it.
Here’s a small brief:
In celebration of Colorado passing the Civil Unions Act into legislation, long-time supporters of the LGBT community, Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Denver and Panzano Restaurant will award one lucky couple an all expenses paid “Civil Union Celebration” for up to 50 guests at Denver’s most vibrant, bold and seductive hotel and its award-winning restaurant. Everything for the perfect ceremony and reception will be included and the total package will be worth nearly $20k from the flowers, to photographer to dance floor and a honeymoon suite— ensuring that every last detail is accounted for in complete Kimpton style.
It’s actually that easy. Send your essay and picture to Robin.Ewing@hotelmonaco.com by April 26th, only a few shorts days away. A panel of judges will select five couples, and by April 30th, you can go to the Monaco’s facebook page and vote for your favourites. The couple will be announced by May 15th, and bing bang boom, you get to plan closely with the Monaco for a November 30th, 2013 date. FUN!
Just when I thought my fondness for the Monaco couldn’t get any stronger, they go and make dreams come true.

Not only is today Homorazzi.com’s Alex’s birthday but it’s the original American Idol winner’s as well. So Happy Birthday to both divas. Can you believe the OG Idol is turning 31 today? Where did the time go? It seems just like yesterday when Kelly Clarkson was belting out Celine Dion songs in front of Simon Cowell and starring in From Justin to Kelly. Memba that hot mess?
In honor of Kelly’s birthday, I thought I’d share my Top 5 Clarkson songs to date. With five studio albums and a greatest hits compilation to her credit and three Grammys, narrowing it down proved very difficult. Do I go with perky Kelly, angry Kelly, pop-urban Kelly or ballad Kelly. After casting your votes in our poll below, keep reading to find out which Clarkson tracks are my favorite.

Have you ever been asked if you knew something, but pretended because you feared you might look like a fool? Guilty as charged. That said, I would never do that in front of a camera. Clearly, these folks interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel’s crew weren’t on the same wavelength.
In a segment for his popular Lie Witness News series, Kimmel went on the road to Coachella. As he mentioned in his monologue, music fans love knowing about bands that no one else has of heard of. Using this to his advantage, his crew made up a bunch of fake bands like Dr. Shlomo and the G.I. Clinic, The Chelsea Clintons and Get The F**k Out of My Pool. To make it somewhat authentic, a real one- Two Door Cinema Club- was thrown in the mix. The result is pure hilarity. Listening to them going on and on how fabulous a non-existent band is, is absolutely priceless. Watch the clip below.
And then there were 14. France is the latest country to legalize same-sex marriages. In fact, the land of berets is the third one in this month alone, after Uruguay and New Zealand. The French National Assembly approved marriage equality in a 331-225 vote. The decision also allows for same-sex couples to adopt children. The next step is for President Francois Hollande to sign the bill. He has already given his formal approval last November.
The decision follows months of division in the country, marked by violence and protests. One of the biggest protests against same-sex marriage drew together hundreds of thousands of people bused in from the French provinces. That demonstration took a violent turn as riot police clashed with protesters, firing tear gas into the crowd. Some individuals in masks and hoods, led the charge against police, damaging cars along the Champs-Elysees avenue and making a break for the presidential palace.
“Despite attempts to obstruct the right, the Senate has adopted Article 1 which allows same-sex couples to marry,” said François Rebsamen of the Socialist party. “Given the abuses that took place either by manifestations of violence in the street, either by verbal exaggerations in the chamber, the vote on this article marks a victory for the fight against homophobia, for tolerance and democracy.”
France’s Justice Minister, Christiane Taubira, said the first gay weddings could take place as early as June. “We believe that the first weddings will be beautiful and that they’ll bring a breeze of joy, and that those who are opposed to them today will surely be confounded when they are overcome with the happiness of the newlyweds and the families,” she adds.
Congratulations to our French brothers and sisters. Which country do you think is next to approve same-sex marriages? The tides are certainly turning. Sound off below.

“Girl, this is crazy.” That’s how Janelle Monae begins “Q.U.E.E.N.” She must’ve been referring to how crazy good the track is, because it is. The 27-year-old just debuted her brand new single from her forthcoming album, The Electric Lady. I never expected a duet with Erykah Badu, but I’m ecstatic it happened. This is friggin’ awesome.
“Q.U.E.E.N.” was inspired by private conversations she had with Badu. She revealed to Billboard at Coachella that, “She’s a great friend to me; she’s like a big sister and it’s a song about private dialogue that she and I have had.” The track is extremely funky with its Prince-like guitar work and synths. The two ladies tackle everything from women throwing shade, twerking, religious tolerance and everything in between. Check out their sassy new single below.
Ask and you shall receive. When I shared a fashion spread featuring Arran Sly, one of our readers suggested I highlight the British model in an upcoming Model Behavior post. Here it is. I’m glad I listened because Sly is way cuter than he appears in that editorial. It definitely didn’t do him justice.
Arran was born in 1993 in the UK. The blue-green eyed stunner was scouted by Elite Models in 2012. Since then, he’s landed major gigs including ad campaigns for Calvin Klein with Matthew Terry and Armani Exchange. His editorial credits include features in Tetu, Attitude, Style and Vogue Hommes Japan to name a few. Sly has walked for Louis Vuitton, Z Zenga and many more. It’s no wonder he’s ranked in the Top 50 on models.com. With the buzz building around Arran, I foresee a long lucrative career in his future. Check out plenty of photos of him below.

Everyone’s favorite Asgardian is back. Marvel has finally released the first movie trailer to Thor: The Dark World. With Iron Man 3 almost here, it makes perfect sense the studio uses that film’s opening to prep audiences for their next film. Out of all The Avengers‘ standalone films, the first Thor was my favorite. Based on the first look, director Alan Taylor has taken over the reigns from Kenneth Branagh excellently. It looks as epic as the first film. Check out the synopsis below before watching the trailer.
Official Synopsis
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
