For this week’s Sports Stud, I’ve decided to feature a handsome Canadian athlete and filmmaker named Rory Bushfield. The 30-year old is a former member of Canada’s World Cup team, skiing moguls. Prior to that, he also competed in slopestyle skiing before he later began focusing on backcountry skiing and filmmaking.
Bushfield was married to freeskier Sarah Burke and the two got married in Pemberton, B.C. on September 25, 2010. Burke was a four-time gold medalist at the Winter X Games and won the world championship in halfpipe in 2005. Sadley, she died after a training accident in Utah on January 19, 2012.
Earlier this year, Bushfield competed on a celebrity reality diving competition show called Splash on ABC. On May 7, 2013, the Squamish, B.C. resident ended up winning the whole competition! When interviewed for the show, Bushfield had this to say about his late wife: “My life’s changed drastically,” Rory says choking up. “I lost my wife. I had it all. I still have a lot. I’m thankful for everything I have, but I had it all.” He added, “Sarah was my dream girl before she knew who I was,” he says. “A lot of the craziest things I ever did were just kind of to impress Sarah.” I can’t imagine what that must be like. Wishing Rory the best with whatever new opportunities are ahead of him! Check out some photos of the handsome adventure-seeker below.
With a new season of NHL hockey fast approaching, this week’s Sports Stud is a Canadian hockey player who plays for and is captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. His name is Jonathan Toews, he’s 25-years-old, 6’2″ and originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He won Stanley Cup in 2010 along with the Conn Smythe Trophy for the playoff MVP. After winning the Cup, Toews passed Peter Forsberg as the youngest player to join the Triple Gold Club. He won the Stanley Cup again in 2013. He also competed with Team Canada in the 2010 Olympics where he was named Best Forward for the tournament and where, as you know, Canada won the Gold Medal. His salary in 2012 was $6 million USD. Back in 2010 when Toews brought the Stanley Cup back to his home town of Winnipeg, the province of Manitoba announced that they would be naming a northern lake after Toews in honour of his success. It’s located 150 km north of Flin Flon and is named Toews Lake.
With the Socci 2014 Winter Olympics coming around the corner, Toews says has been keeping informed about the controversial anti-gay laws in Russia and the potential boycott of the games. Toews told TSN, “I don’t think they’re buying themselves any friends [with the laws] by any means, and I think, obviously, a lot of people are disappointed by the attitude they’ve had in Russia,” says Toews. “I still think it’s important to go there and represent your country. You don’t have to necessarily believe all the laws that they’ve instilled in Russia right, so I definitely don’t stand behind it.” Toews hopes that fans and athletes alike can find other ways to speak their minds and voice their displeasure outside of boycotting. “I’m sure that there a lot of other ways that people can express their disagreement with the anti-gay laws in Russia right now and there will be ways to do that,” said Toews. “I’m open to that, but I don’t think that not going to the Games is the solution because it’s a disappointment for everyone else.”
It’s official. Bruno Mars is headlining the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show at MetLife Stadium on February 2nd, 2014. A day after the Associated Press leaked the news, both the NFL and Pepsi confirmed Mars’ selection and released an official photo and video promo. It’s the earliest the organization has revealed the halftime act ever. Beyonce was revealed in October, while Madonna after Thanksgiving.
“Bruno Mars is a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer and musician. The 14-time Grammy Award nominee and Grammy winner has sold over 115 million singles worldwide. His current album Unorthodox Jukebox and his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans have a combined certification total of 60x platinum worldwide. According to Billboard, Mars scored his first five “Hot 100” No. 1s faster than any male since Elvis Presley. As a singer, songwriter and producer, Mars has an impressive catalog of 22 “Hot 100” hits. Currently, Bruno Mars and his eight-piece band The Hooligans are on a sold-out, 91-city world arena tour.” – NFL Press Release
Let me preface this by saying I love Bruno. The man can do no wrong in my eyes. He releases infectious hit after hit. In addition, he’s an amazing live performer. But is he big enough to score the most-watched musical event of the year? After Madonna and Beyonce tackling the show the past couple of years, the “Locked Out of Heaven” singer seems a bit underwhelming. Again, I adore this man but somehow it doesn’t seem epic enough. Don’t you agree? Weigh in below.
With an invitation like that, how can anyone refuse. The 31-year-old English pro rugby player just oozes sex on the cover of Gay Times magazine. From his very visible penis line to his massive guns, every part of Stuart Reardon deserves a bit of worshiping ;) Not only is he comfortable showing off his body for the gays, he’s also a big LGBT supporter. Check out his thoughts on Russia’s anti-gay laws and the upcoming Winter Olympics.
“What’s happened over there is disgusting. But if you’ve been training for the last four years and you’re in a position where you could win a medal, you’re going to want to compete aren’t you? If I was a gay athlete I think it would send a stronger message to go. Being in the public eye, you have a wider opportunity to voice your opinion to a wider audience and send a positive message. That would make more of an impact than boycotting.” – Stuart Reardon
Bonjour, Monsieur Gourcuff! For this week’s Sports Stud, I decided to feature French soccer player Yoann Miguel Gourcuff. A few years ago back in 2010, I featured him as a World Cup Hottie Of The Day but feel that he’s definitely worthy of a new post. As previously mentioned, his mom was a basketball player, his older brother (Erwan) is a competitive swimmer & cyclist, and his dad was a former footballer who played for several clubs/countries – thus, he followed in his papa’s footsteps.
The 27-year-old mainly plays midfield (which is what I play mostly – requires A LOT of running) but sometimes plays striker. He currently plays for French club Olympique Lyonnais.
Back in 2008, France Gay magazine Têtu named him “Bomb of the Month.” The gay mag referred to his “doe eyes, rebellious locks, and tapering thighs. He had succeeded Cristiano Ronaldo for this title in Têtu. Check out some photos of Gourcuff below!
For this week’s Sport Stud, I decided to highlight another sexy Canadian NHL Hockey Player. Joffrey Lupul plays as alternate captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and plays left wing. Other teams he has played on include Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Last year, Lupul was nominated for the Masterton Trophy after he put up 67 points in 66 games after recovering from back surgery and a blood infection. Outside of Hockey, Lupul enjoys playing guitar and dresses like a million bucks. Seriously, he’s a stud on and off the ice.
Lupul is incredibly handsome and in amazing shape. In fact, he was included in this year’s Naked Issue of ESPN’s Bodies We Want. I’ve included the ice-melting photos from that shoot below.
It’s not the first time Brendon Ayanbadejo has posed for Adam Bouska’s NOH8 campaign. However, it’s the first time the NFL free agent has posed naked for him. The only thing covering his special no-no parts is some pigskin. “A real man supports equality,” says the caption of his sexy pic.
On a side note, I had no idea Bouska was still doing this project given that the Supreme Court overturned Prop 8 which was the initial reason for the project. Perhaps, it’s time to retire his trademark silver duct tape? Unless, of course, it involves more athletes shedding their clothes for equality. I’m all for nudity ;) Check out Brendon’s latest NOH8 pic below.
This week’s Sports Stud is from the world of men’s gymnastics and is none other than Sam Mikulak. We previously included the 20-year-old in our Hottest Male Gymnasts Of The 2012 Summer Olympics post last year but now he gets a feature of his own.
Mikulak is certainly proving to be one to watch for in men’s gymnastics. Earlier this year, he won the Big Ten and NCAA title and just a few weeks ago backed that up with winning the title at the 2013 P&G Championships, the biggest meet since the 2012 Olympics. After this competition, the Men’s Senior Team was officially announced and needless to say, Mikulak made the cut.
Mikulak, who attends the University of Michigan, has had a great year so far and I’m sure there’s more to come. Check out his photos and videos from his most recent competition below.
