Logo TV Ranks The Top 25 Trailblazing Companies

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Logo TV puts the spotlight on companies that have served as pioneers and advocates for the LGBT community. Through their advertising, communications, and other visible actions, these companies have demonstrated their unwavering LGBT support over the years. Here’s the methodology on how Logo ranked the Top 25 Trailblazing Companies.

“This list was created through extensive research conducted in partnership with Witeck Communications. Starting from a pool of close to 200 consumer-facing companies that earned 100 percent scores on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2015 Corporate Equality Index, we evaluated each company based on seven objective criteria that demonstrate each company’s support of the LGBT community in the public sphere, including: Inclusive Advertising, Digital Video & Social Media, Policy Support, Spokespersons & C-Suite Executives, Donations & Sponsorships, Website Engagement, and Marriage Equality Support. Companies were awarded points based on their activity in each of these areas. The final list is composed of the 25 companies who earned the highest scores across all seven criteria.”

Not surprisingly, the list is comprised of very successful companies. It pays to be very LGBT-inclusive. Find out below to see how Gap, GM, Google and others ranked on the list.

People React To Being Called Beautiful

A woman named Shea Glover conducted an experiment in which she told people that they were beautiful and got their honest reactions (both good and bad). The video was uploaded back in May of this year but seems to really be getting some attention now as it makes its way around through social media. It’s really worth watching.

“I conducted an independent project, which evidently turned into a social experiment halfway through, regarding beauty at my performing arts high school in Chicago,” explains Glover. “I want to clarify that my intentions were not to get a reaction out of people. I was simply filming beauty and this is the result. Here it is.”

Top Baby Names Of 2015

top-baby-names-2015

Growing up, I wasn’t a huge fan of my first name. I always felt left out that I couldn’t find a magnet or other tacky souvenir with my name on it. As I got older, I began to love it and appreciated the fact it wasn’t very common.

BabyCenter.com has unveiled their Top 100 boy and girl names of 2015. Their data comes from about 340,000 parents who shared their baby’s name with the website. Once again, my name doesn’t rank in the Top 100. I don’t know whether to be happy or insulted 😉

Jackson kept its grip on pole position on the boys side (love that name), while Sophia also reigned supreme for another year. Making it on the list this year on the boys side are Mateo, Ezra, and Damian. Meanwhile Jocelyn, Eleanor, Juliana, Hazel, Kinsley, Isla, Jordyn, Emery, and Taylor slide into the Top 100 on the girls side. Check out the Top 10 of each gender below.

yahoo-2015-most-searched-terms

I absolutely love this time of the year. Not only is it the holidays and award seasons, but it’s also time for all those year-ends lists. Admit it. You’re a sucker for a countdown as well.

Yahoo took a look back at the fascinating trends and topic searches from 2015. From Most Searched Celebrities to Top Searched Bacon Recipe, the search engine covered a wide array of topics for their yearly recap.

In terms of overall searches, not category specific, Bobbi Kristina Brown generated the most searches. No doubt the mysterious nature of her untimely death and the drama following it, padded her numbers.

Caitlyn Jenner, not surprisingly, also made the cut at No. 3. While several members of the Kardashian family also ranked, you might be surprised to learn who landed just right behind her at No. 4. Check out the Top 10 Searches on Yahoo below, along with other category specific lists.

pecs-and-pups

To quote the Sound of Music, these are two of my favorite things. Who doesn’t love adorable puppies and well-chiseled men? No one I can think of.

Pet retailer BarkBox’s new webseries titled “Pups and Pecs” is exactly what it sounds like. Shirtless men flaunting their pecs while holding pups. Whether it’s hailing a cab, washing dishes or conducting an office boardroom meeting, these cute canines are the perfect accessory.

jennifer-lawrence-prank-interview

Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox aka the Smosh Brothers are known for pulling pranks on their guests. Imagine their surprise when Jennifer Lawrence, who’s equally known for being a good sport, appears irritated by their stunts. To be fair, pulling out a pita and referring it to as Peeta from the Hunger Games would annoy anyone. #cheesy

When Jennifer lays down the law (pun intended) and walks out the interview, Hecox is flummoxed and looks like he just shit his pants. J-Law’s co-stars, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, then appear to scold the interviewers about their unprofessional behavior. Shortly after, Jennifer rolls in to let them know that the tables have been reversed and that they were pranked.

All the hijinks were courtesy of Prank It Forward for a superfan named Dylan Miceli-Nelson who is suffering from muscular dystrophy. Check out the clip below. One of the highlights features Lawrence shooting an apple off Lecox’s head. Turns out, she has as good of an aim as her on-screen persona, Katniss.

According to the annual Halloween Consumer Spending Survey, Americans will spend about $74.34 on Halloween-related expenses. That’s slightly down from $77.52 last year. All and all, the total spending is expected to reach $6.9 billion this year. That’s a whole lot of candy, costumes and decorations.

To celebrate the spooky holiday, WalletHub crunched numbers to determine which US cities are the best and worst places to celebrate Halloween. Using 16 key metrics including weather forecasts, party tickets, safety, costume stores and more, the website ranked the 100 largest cities in the United States.
