Fashionistas pay attention. This is definitely a must-see in the coming year. Unlike Lifetime’s campy Donatella biopic, House of Versace, you don’t need a tent or sleeping bag to watch this. Yves Saint Laurent is going to be all about haute couture, glamour and love.
Not only is the iconic designer much more classic than Versace’s rock and glam, but it’s filmed by the French. There’s no way they’re putting one of their most-heralded designers‘ name through the mud. Expect all class and style in this film.
The film chronicles Laurent’s early career and his ascension to the head of Christian Dior at the age of 21. His personal life is also highlighted, most notably his relationship with Pierre Bergé who became not only his lover but also his business partner. Pierre Niney and Guillaume Gallienne play Laurent and Bergé respectively. Also appearing in the film is Nikolai Kinski as a young Karl Lagerfeld.
Yves Saint Laurent opens on January 8, 2014. Check out the trailer below.
The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year. No lie. I look forward to it like a child does Christmas Day. This year, I finally got an in to check out the event but prior obligations prevented me from flying out to New York City. Oh well, maybe next year.
CBS doesn’t air the fashion show until December 10, but the extravaganza was held last night at the Lexington Avenue Armory. Fashion TV was on hand to film a sneak preview of the Angels strutting the runway with their elaborate oversized wings. In addition, they give a sneak peek at performances by Fall Out Boy, A Great Big World and Taylor Swift. The latter even sashayed along with the models. Stick to your day job TayTay. I guess this is what they meant when they said milk does a body good. If you’ve always wanted a silky smooth butt, this might be the closest thing you’ll ever get.
aussieBum just unveiled its groundbreaking new line using real milk fibres. Supposedly, they are specially designed to capture moisture and nourish your skin, leaving it tender and smooth. Hmmmhmmm. They’re not only lightweight, but breathable and eco-friendly. They come in hipster and brief style only and in both strawberry and vanilla. Better act fast because they’re available only while stocks last. Check out the promo video below.
What’s better than Thom Evans fronting D. Hedral’s print campaign? Watching the 28-year-old former rugby player running in slow motion on the beach wearing skimpy swimwear. That’s what. Dude could easily land a part in a Baywatch reboot. Based on all the remakes Hollywood is greenlighting lately, I fully expect one based on the iconic lifeguard series to come soon.
Evans is joined by Paolla Rahmeier for a fashion film directed by Daniel Jaems. Titled “La Sirena” (The Mermaid), the story follows the young lovers as they explore the fragility and vulnerability of loves beginnings, set on the stunning beaches of Barbados. The film is also being used to promote the opening of D. Hedral’s new flagship store at 38 Neal Street, Covent Garden, London. Watch the visual feast below.
Last week, Flaunt unleashed a stunning editorial featuring Selena Gomez. While I prefer Selena with longer locks, the bob wig is a nice change of pace. It gives her an edge that suits the fashion spread perfectly. The publication just unveiled an accompanying short film directed by Victoria Mahoney which was also shot on location at the iconic Rosslyn Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Check out the “Come & Get It” singer getting cozy with Shiloh Fernandez below.
“That’s not feminism. [Lorde is] not supporting other women. That’s my honest opinion, that’s what I would say to her if I saw her. I actually covered her song in all of my shows that I’ve done so far. I’m not sure if I’m going to continue that.”
Earlier this year, David Bowie released his 24th studio album. French fashion house Louis Vuitton not only enlisted the 66-year-old icon for their new ad campaign, but also one of the tracks featured on The Next Day. Bowie belts out “I’d Rather Be High” while playing a harpsichord at some fancy schmancy masquerade ball in the lush new visual directed by frequent M.I.A collaborator, Romain Gavras. American model Arizona Muse joins David in the elegant LV advert titled L’Invitation Au Voyage. Check it out below.
Who better to star in a short fashion film about timeless glamour than Matthew McConaughey and Scarlett Johansson. The two gorgeous stars unite for the first time in a Dolce & Gabbana fragrance campaign shot by Martin Scorsese.
“Street of Dreams” is an epic story of the power of love and the power of dreams. Watch McConaughey and Johansson drive through the streets of New York in a beautifully-shot black and white clip. Check it out below.
Even though Zac Efron worked his way off my 5 Guys Everyone Finds Smokin’ Hot But Me list which I wrote years ago, I still don’t get the Cristiano Ronaldo fascination. Sure, he has a smoking hot bod, but those are dime a dozen these days. At least when it comes to underwear ads.
With gaggles of gays however with a differing opinion than myself, the Portuguese soccer star is wise to launch his own line of underwear called CR7. I’m sure he was responsible for selling plenty of it when he fronted Armani’s underwear campaign back in 2010. Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot below, along with a couple of promo pics.
