Happy Socks Features Nude Dancers In New Ad Campaign

In: Donovan, Fashion

Now this is one way to sell socks. The Swedish brand enlisted famed photographer David LaChapelle to shoot their Fall ad campaign. Wearing barely anything else than colorful Happy Socks, dancers high kick and grand jeté their little hearts out on location in downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.

“It was really about the form of the dancers themselves, who star in the pictures, and the idea of the colorful socks and colorful backgrounds — and the happy feeling in the air,” – David LaChapelle

In addition to the print campaign, a short video titled “Happy Accidents” will debut shortly. Choreographed by John Byrne, the kooky visual follows a hooker possessed with an irresistible urge to dance. The nine-minute tale loosely based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Red Shoes will debut on October 31 on HappySocks.com. Check out the print visuals below.

Last week, Brant Daugherty sizzled on the dance floor with his top-scoring quickstep on Dancing With The Stars. With that breakthrough performance, the Pretty Little Liars star declared he’s in it, to win it. Watch out Corbin Bleu and Amber Riley, there’s a new contender for Season 17′s mirrorball trophy.

Now, the 28-year-old stud is sizzling in a new fashion editorial snapped by Greg Lotus. Daugherty dons sophisticated suits, stylish outer coats and sexy leather for InStyle Russia Man. Check out the gorgeous black and white snaps below.

Holy death-defying Batman. Not content to showcase his new Fall 2013 collection in typical fashion, Paul Smith headed to the French Alps to film his breathtaking new campaign.

With the help of director Sébastien Montaz-Rosset and slackliners Antoine Moineville and Tancrède Melet, the English fashion designer showcases this season’s trousers, shirts and underwear as the two adrenaline junkies precariously pop peak to peak. At times, there is nothing but rope and boxer briefs keeping them from falling.

While the guys are shirtless, it’s not their bodies that you’re marveling at. Rather it’s their eye-popping daredevil antics. Really a push-up on a rope in between mountains? Really? My hands were sweating at the mere thought of some of their stunts. I’m chicken just riding a few rides at Disneyland. This takes advertising underwear to dizzying new heights.

Rihanna’s fashion reality competition was originally slated to premiere on Style Network, but due to Esquire buying out the channel, Styled To Rock has a new home. Where else but Bravo of course. That Andy Cohen, always to the rescue, especially when it comes to pop singers gays love.

Similar to Project Runway, the Rihanna-executive produced series is looking for new designers to create fashion for A-list celebrities. Supported by their mentors, the candidates fight in a weekly battle for the final where the winner will walk away with $100,000 in cash, a fashion feature in Glamour magazine, and a chance to join Rihanna’s own design team.

On tap to mentor the contestants is everyone’s lucky charm Pharrell Williams, model Erin Wasson, and Rihanna’s stylist Mel Ottenberg. Weekly celebrity guest judges include Miley Cyrus, Carly Rae Jepsen, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Osbourne, Kid Cudi, The Band Perry, Ne-Yo, Big Sean, and Nervo. Pretty impressive roster right? Catch all the action when Styled To Rock premieres on Friday, October 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

In other Rihanna-related news, ever wonder who was on the other side of the bathroom door while she moodily sang “Stay?” Wonder no more. Queen Latifah answers that question in a parody she filmed for her daytime talk show. Check it out below.

Apparently, dancing is all the rage in fashion these days. Instead of models just doing their signature walks, girls are now being asked to shimmy, shake it and grind it on the runway. First Rick Owens showed off his entire collection at Paris Fashion Week using stepping teams, and now Jean Paul Gaultier is getting his groove on. The French designer is best known for creating Madonna’s iconic cone bra back in the 90s during her voguing days.

Speaking of vogue, JPG enlisted Karlie Kloss to show off her skills. While Scissor Sisters’ “Let’s Have A Kiki” played in the background, girlfriend busted out more angles than a protractor. Kloss was facilitating a master class in geometry, for real. Fierce doesn’t even begin to describe the unforgettable moment.

Also busting out in dance was Canadian supermodel Coca Rocha. The former professional Irish jigger (is that a word?) channeled her inner John Travolta for a Grease-inspired segment. From the pompadour to the iconic dance moves, Coco served major Danny Zuko realness. Watch both epic moments below, along with the entire Gaultier fashion show.

Wicked Stepping Routine During Paris Fashion Week

In: Donovan, Fashion

Rick Owens has a reputation for being a cult fashion label. After watching his much buzzed about fashion show during Paris Fashion Week, I can see why he’s seen as a rebel. He took an irreverent approach of showing his entire collection by recruiting four different stepping teams from universities across America.

These women of all shapes and sizes scowled their way through an energetic mesmerizing dance routine. Fashion just got real. Sufficed to say, the crowd went wild, instantly sharing the moment via Vine, Instagram and other social media platforms. At long last, we have the high-quality version of the performance from the label. Check it out below.

Earlier this year, Naomi Campbell entered Tyra Banks territory and started her own modeling competition, The Face. She even snagged up ANTM refugee Nigel Barker to host her Oxygen reality show. While it wasn’t a ratings juggernaut, it received positive reviews and was renewed for a second season. Personally, I loved it. Truth be told, I’d watch anything where Naomi Campbell shows off her beautiful BRF (bitchy resting face).

With Barker in tow, the legendary supermodel takes her show across the pond for a UK version. Taking over for Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova who sat alongside her on the US version, are British model Erin O’Connor and Swedish stunner Caroline Winberg. The three supermodel coaches will chose four girls each to mentor.

Over eight weeks, the three teams will compete in a series of real life fashion industry challenges for some of Britain’s best known brands including Marks & Spencer, i-D magazine and much more. The winner will become the face of Max Factor. The competition starts on Monday, September 30 on Sky Living. Check out the trailer below.
