It’s the question every gay man wanted the answer to. Exactly who was Tom Daley dating? Admit it, you were wondering it too after watching the 19-year-old’s coming out YouTube video. According to E! Online, it’s none other than Academy Award-winning writer Dustin Lance Black.
“In spring this year, my life changed massively when I met someone and they made me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great,” the 19-year-old said. “And that someone is a guy. It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that something like that could happen, but it wasn’t until spring this year that something just clicked. It felt right and I thought, ‘OK,’ and my whole world changed there and then.” – Tom Daley’s YouTube Video
What a difference a search engine makes. On Bing’s year-end list, Beyonce earned top honors for most searched celebrity in 2013. On Yahoo!, she doesn’t even rank in the Top 10. Taking not only the No. 1 slot as top-searched female celebrity but also top Yahoo search term overall is Miley Cyrus. Not at all surprising given all her headline-grabbing antics this year.
Cyrus beat out fellow celebrities for Yahoo!’s top honor. Kim Kardashian (#2), Kate Upton (#3) and Selena Gomez (#5) all just fell short. Gotta hand it to Kardashian. Regardless of what search engine, she’s near the top. She also landed the runner-up slot on Bing’s list, while Miley ranked at No. 9. Again I ask, who and why are people searching for Kimmy K?
Other top search terms in 2013 include Minecraft (#4), Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) (#6), Amanda Bynes (#7), Jodi Arias (#8), iPhone 5 (#9) and Justin Bieber (#10). Check out other Top 10 year-end lists from Yahoo! below.
Initially, Alan Ritchson auditioned for the role of Finnick which eventually went to Sam Claflin. A couple of months after not hearing from the casting director, he received an offer to play Gloss. If you’ve seen The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, much to his fans’ dismay, he’s barely featured. Even more disheartening is the fact producers didn’t utilize that ripped eight-pack of his. Luckily for us, Da Man had no problem exploiting his natural assets.
The 29-year-old former American Idol hopeful poses for a stylish and sizzling editorial in Da Man’s latest issue snapped by Mitchell Nguyen McCormack. Ritchson can next be seen in Michael Bay’s upcoming big budget Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where he plays Raphael. Given that he’s a turtle, I’m pretty sure, once again, moviegoers will be deprived of his toned physique on the big screen. Better get your fill from the pictures below.
“I’d be lying if I say genetics don’t play some part of that, but at the same time, I think people take for granted how hard it is to achieve any kind of success. I do work really hard, I work out five days a week and I’m very disciplined about my regimen. I focus on cardio; it’s the foundation of my workout. The best of me is poured into that and the rest of it goes into resistance training. If anyone wants to get ripped, I recommend sprint training.”
Tom Daley wasn’t the only one joining the LGBT ranks recently. Maria Bello sorta did as well. In an essay titled “Coming Out as a Modern Family,” the 46-year-old actress discusses coming out to her 12-year-old son Jackson about her best friend and partner, Clare Munn. Jackson is the result of a previous relationship with TV producer Dan McDermott. Here’s a brief excerpt from the New York Times piece.
So back to Jackson’s question, with me sitting on the edge of his bed: Was I romantic with anyone right now?
I exhaled and finally said it: “Clare.”
He looked at me for what seemed like an eternity and then broke into a huge, warm smile. “Mom, love is love, whatever you are,” he said with wisdom beyond his years. (Yes, he obviously attends one of those progressive schools in Los Angeles!)
I loved him so much for saying that. “But Jack, I’m a little scared,” I said. “When I was younger, people judged you if you were in a romantic relationship with a person of the same sex, and some still do. So I’m not sure how to deal with this. But we’ll figure it out together.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie began shooting in Vancouver today. Early paparazzi shots showed Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson filming at a cafe. Pretty soon, visuals of Rita Ora on set will surface. The 23-year-old British singer revealed via Twitter she’s joining the sexually-charged film adaptation.
“It’s official! I’ve been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian’s sister Mia.” – Rita Ora
If you’re scratching your head thinking Ora and Dornan bear no resemblance, it’s because Mia is the adopted younger sister of the billionaire S&M enthusiast. Fifty is Rita’s latest foray into acting. She previously appeared as a racer in Fast & Furious 6. What do you think of Rita’s casting? Do you think she’s a solid choice for the role? Sound off below.
Even without a brand new album, Beyonce topped Bing’s year-end list for most searched celebrity in 2013. I’m sure a little thing called the Super Bowl and her highly successful Mrs. World Carter Tour assisted a tiny bit with that. She knocked out last year’s champ, Kim Kardashian, from the top slot. Don’t rejoice too much Kardashian haters. Kimmy K is still at No. 2. Seriously, who searches for her? Justin Bieber and Barack Obama are the only males making an appearance in the US Top 10.
In addition to its annual rankings of the top celebrities, there’s also a Top 10 list for most searched songs, sports stars, fashion designers, movies, social networks and travel destinations. The search engine breaks it down even further by compiling a separate list for several countries- Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK, and the US.
It’s interesting to see that Bey only topped the US list, while Miley Cyrus (Australia, Canada), Rihanna (France), Selena Gomez (Germany) and Justin Bieber (UK) topped other territories. The most fascinating breakdown for me were the travel destinations. Even neighboring countries like Canada and the United States have vastly different tastes. With that being said, both picked Hawaii as No. 1. Check out some of the US’ Top 10 lists below.
Since 1993, Barbara Walters has compiled ten public figures yearly for her annual 10 Most Fascinating People list. The chosen few run the gamut, ranging from fields of entertainment, sports, politics and popular culture. With her retirement forthcoming, the 2013 edition is reportedly her last for ABC.
As always, the number one spot on her list will not be revealed until the television special airs on December 18. Previous figures to earn the distinction as Most Fascinating Person include Steve Jobs (2011), Michele Obama (2009), Barack Obama (2008), J.K. Rowling (2007) and David Petraeus who received the honor in both 2010 and 2012. Find out below which nine people made the Top 10 list this year, but just missed out on the top spot.
British diver Tom Daley came out of the closet today via his YouTube page to tell the world he’s been dating a guy. I can already hear all the gay men squealing with joy over this news. We’ve definitely done our fair share of oogaling and drooling over this young stud muffin and now those fantasies have come true. In the video Tom discusses that he read an article where he was misquoted and it made him feel really angry and lists that as one of the reasons he decided to make the video.
“I’ve been dating girls and I’ve never really had a serious relationship to talk about and now I feel ready to talk about my relationships.
Come spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great. And, well, that someone is a guy. And it did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that something like that could happen but it wasn’t until spring this year that something just clicked…”
Tom states that he still fancies girls for now but we’ll see how that one goes. A lot of people will say “Bi now, gay later,” but I’m finding with the younger generation that it’s not so black and white anymore these days and a lot of younger people are landing more in the middle with bisexuality. In any case, I want to commend Tom for stepping out like this. We all have to remember that he’s been in the public eye since he was 16 and he’s now only 19 years old. I didn’t even come out until I was 20 and I lived in a very accepting household with no one watching so I can only imagine what it’s like for these young stars. I wish Tom all the best in his relationship and I’m glad to see he’s really happy with whoever this lucky young lad is. I’m sure we’ll soon be seeing him gracing the covers of Attitude and GT Magazine because of this news.
