They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but you can certainly judge a new TV show based on buzz and premise alone. Patrick, Tyrell and myself have picked two shows each that we think will be the first casualties for the 2012-2013 television season. Check out our choices and see if you agree with our predictions. Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
Premieres: Wednesday, September 26 at 8/7c
The New Normal isn’t NBC’s only new show inciting a boycott. Peta is encouraging its supporters to skip this animal version of House. Justin Kirk portrays a veterinarian who much prefers the company of four-legged creatures than humans. Though Kirk gets top billing, it’s Crystal the Monkey who’s the biggest star. You might recognize the primate from The Hangover: Part II. Even if the monkey turns in a performance rivaling Marcel’s from Friends, I predict this show will be a frontrunner for cancellation.

One of my favorite surprises with tuning in to The X-Factor this year has been watching Demi Lovato slay on the judging panel. Yes, Britney is everything everything everything, but Demi has really surprised me the most. She’s really good. During the auditions, we’ve been catching Demi’s many fashion choices and hairstyles. Now, her hairstyle has been changed up once again.
As you can see in the title, Demi has opted for bangs. I mean, I love a good fringe on any girl but can Demi pull it off? Demi debuted the new doo on Twitter with a cute little message to accompany the photo. Check out the bangs and the tweet below.

A couple of weeks ago, I introduced you to Charlie Puth and his incredibly adorable cover of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Togeter. Yesterday night during some YouTube searching and watching, I came across former NLT boy-bander Travis Garland and his cover of the Taylor Swift track. When I went to his channel to see what else he’s been up to, I was absolutely addicted to his most recent venture of covers titled The ShortBus Sessions, that I just had to share them with you.
I first remember seeing Travis as a part of NLT and really digging their R&B influenced track She Said, I Said. After the group disbanded due to member Kevin McHale’s career path change to include filming Glee, the rest of the boys kind of dropped off the map. Travis kept one foot in the music industry in LA kept popping up every now again with tracks. One that really caught my attention was Glow Stick which was never formally released. So what exactly is Travis up to now?
Travis is rolling with all the right people including The Stereotypes who are known for producing massive pop hits. While it doesn’t seem that he has any record label backing him, he’s created quite the fan following for himself with his smooth vocals and incredibly sexy looks. Travis’ latest three videos really showcase the talent that this young man possesses and I can’t wait to see what else transpires from him. Watch three of my favorite covers below and share your thoughts with us.

Yesterday on his show, Anderson Cooper took a miniature stab at Lindsay Lohan during his segment, The First 15 Minutes. The topic of conversation was the recent tweets between Amanda Bynes & Lindsay Lohan regarding Bynes’ recent behaviour patterns and traffic violations. If you missed the tweet, Lindsay said:
“Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far? +,”
Anderson retorts by saying that he doesn’t know Lohan personally, but he feels sorry for her. He states that she should focus on a comeback. I think he’s right. The end of 2012 has certainly become the time for one. Just ask Christina Aguilera. Finally, Anderson finishes off his thoughts by saying Lindsay should “just do her job” to which the audience responds with roaring applause. Check out the video below.

As a celebrity and being in the public eye, a quote or two of yours is bound to be taken out of context, especially in the power of media and editing. But more often than not, celebrities who would expect to say dumb or random things are usually the ones who get caught with their foot in their mouths. The other while perusing Twitter, I came across a link to stupid celebrity quotes and being curious, I looked.
Take Arnold Schwarzenegger for example. The former governor once said to the press about marriage equality, “I think gay marriage is something that should be between a man and a woman.” If you don’t see anything wrong with that, read it a few more times and I’m sure you’ll begin to chuckle to yourself. Arnold isn’t the only offender. Check out a few of my favorite stupid celebrity quotes below.
BC native, Andrew Allen made a big splash this summer with his hit single, Loving You Tonight. The acoustic guitar driven, pop/rock earworm was on repeat quite frequently on my iPod last month and after seeing him perform the track live, I became a permanent fan. I also had a chance to chat with him after his performance where he told me about his new single, Satellite which is available on iTunes today.
While the track still showcases Allen’s crisp vocals, the instrumentation takes a little steer away from acoustic/pop and turns more in the direction of pop/dance. Allen sings out, “I know you’re gonna be fine. Just step away from the broken power lines. I know we don’t have much time. Just take those feathers and glue them together and fly, like a satellite.” I absolutely love the track and think that a good remix would definitely do the song some good to reach an even broader audience.

A while back, ArjanWrites turned me on to a little four-piece pop/rock band by the name of Lawson and I have been hooked ever since. They debuted at the end of May this year with their single, When She Was Mine and I immediately could not get enough of it. Their second single titled Taking Over Me blew me away and now, the boys are onto track number three off their soon to be released album due out at the end of October. The new single is titled Standing In The Dark and I love it.
Although it won’t be officially released until October 14, the boys have released the lyric video to help promote the new single with an official music video expected to hit their VEVO page soon. The track isn’t as pulsing as their two previous singles but it reminds me of a more pop/rock version of Need You Now by Lady Antebellum.
The clip makes me a little dizzy to be honest as the members write out the lyrics on a white board with different colored markers. The angle and shooting style is a little Blair Witch Project for me. Video aside, the track is really great and falls into exactly what I’ve come to love about these four boys. I cannot wait to hear the entire album, Chapman Square when it’s released on October 22. Check out the track below.
