RuPaul’s Drag Race 5 Episode 7: RuRoast

In: Tommy D, TV Shows

I LOVED THIS EPISODE! It was SO funny and it was such a good idea for the “live audience” episode that they do once a season usually. It was also the reading challenge which I’m happy to say this season was amazing. Everyone did a good job and Alaska outshone them all. It was also the episode where Alaska separated herself from Ro-Laska-Tox which was the little girl group of Roxxxy, Alaska ans Detox. Last week Michelle made it clear that cliques weren’t the way to go so she decided to go Beyonce on their ass, and she won a mini challenge.

However the mini challenge doesn’t really mean anything because the MAIN CHALLENGE is what’s important. The challenge this week was the RuPaul Roast! YES! They all had to come up with jokes to roast RuPaul, all the judges and each other. This was going to be a very important challenge because if you can’t read a bitch as a drag queen, what are you doing in drag? (Ok so it’s not THAT important, but it is a good skill to have).

Movie Review: ‘Oz: The Great And Powerful’

In: Movies, Tommy D

What the heck happened before Dorothy landed in Oz? Wait…that’s the tagline for the musical WICKED isn’t it? Well hoenstly what DID happen? And how did some old man from Kansas become the WIZARD of OZ? That’s the question answered in Oz: The Great And Powerful. It is a a good answer? Before I divulge we should go to the beginning.

So Oz (James Franco) is actually not a wizard, but a travelling circus con man magician, and he’s also a big womanizer which is what gets him into Oz (The land) in the first place. See while part of the travelling circus one of the other acts ( a strong man or something) find out Oz has been flirting with his lover, so Oz jumps in his hot air balloon and travels to OZ. It seems to me that the only way to get to Oz is by tornado.

The jolly miss Jade Jolie.

Honestly she was SUCH a treat to speak with this morning, I even got word from Patrick that it was the easiest most clear interview to edit haha!

Jade took time out this morning to talk about her experience on the show, as we know she was safe pretty much the entire time except obviously this last episode. WE talked about her friendship with Coco, the little drama with Alyssa and all the rainbows and glitter in the UNIVERSE!

She’s so sweet and kind so take a listen below and don’t forget to follow her on Twitter @QueenJadeJolie (AND ME TOO @TommyD).

Interview after the jump…

I mean Amen.

My review of RuPaul’s Drag Race this week is going to be a bit brisk because I just came back from Emerald City Comic Con and I am WIPED (a nerd alert is coming this week about it). What did we learn in this week’s episode? Most drag queen’s can’t sing, Detox is 90% silicone & Coco Montrese wants to have her cake and eat it too!

This week’s mini challenge was make up in the dark which was hysterical. Detox won because her make-up is essentially paint by numbers flawless. So she got to choose the 3 teams for the singing challenge. She obviously chose Roxxxy and Alaska for her team, Ivy Jinkx and Jade Jolie were together and Coco and Alyssa were paired up. The main challenge was a “We are the world” style number called Can I get an Amen? There were challenged with writing a verse, and coming out with an 80′s style look for the live music video.

Racers, we need to take a moment. There was something so unbelievable shocking that happened on tonight’s episode that I was almost offended. For a competition full of the best drag queens in the country to not know who Little Edie was is unforgivable. A little history lesson before we start shall we?

Little Edie was the cousin of Jackie O. Her and her mother Big Edie lived in a mansion called Grey Gardens and were very recluse. They became GAY ICONS and CULT ICONS after their documentary Grey Gardens was released. Jackie O even took notice of this and helped them with the mansion because of the controversial way they lived. If you haven’t seen Grey Gardens its a MUST and I highly recommend that you watch it this week. For Jinkx Monsoon to do Little Edie PERFECTLY (and I mean perfectly, the accent, the little quips, the american flag, the pate, the headdress EVERYTHING was flawless) was absolutely beyond. It was on another level and will for me be the best Snatch Game contestant. She shined even more because this season’s Snatch Game was sub par. Did everyone just phone it in this challenge? I thought these queens were pros, but there was absolutely no excuse for what we saw on the show tonight. Now it’s time to talk about what happened tonight.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION means DOUBLE INTERVIEW!

Yes I know we missed Serena and Monica with their elimination interviews but due to scheduling conflicts we couldn’t get them. That being said, we found a perfect plan and we are back on schedule with our interviews.

This week we’ve got two fabulous queens for you, Honey Mahogany & Vivienne Pinay who were both sent home this week is a (not so) shocking elimination. The reason I keep saying “not so shocking” is because there were 14 contestants, and Vivienne explains it in her interview so you’ll get the scoop.

Also we talk about Honey’s new single, “It’s Honey“, her collection of caftans & how she felt being the first SFO queen on the show. I’ve also included the new music video for “It’s Honey”! Enjoy everything after the jump!

Music video and interviews after the jump…

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear we have a problem fellow gay nerds. A couple weeks ago it was released the author Orson Scott Card is going to be writing a new Superman story that starts in April. No big deal right? WRONG! Orson Scott Card is a big homophobe, and this has everyone (myself included) in a big tizzy because Superman is the defender of the little guy, of the oppressed, and Orson Scott Card is a villain in real life.

“But someone’s personal views shouldn’t matter when writing a comic book,” some might say. Sure, you can use that argument but it doesn’t work in this case. This is SUPERMAN! Superman loves all, he protects all. This author is a known activist against homosexuality and gay marriage and he’s got to go. So what do we do?

In the famous words of Drag Race All Star Jujubee I want to start off this review by saying MEEEOW! RuPaul was not havin it tonight hunty! Did you see it? Did you SEE the (not so) shocking double elimination? I have to be honest I totally saw it come because the LSFYL was kind of lamesauce. Who were the bottom two? Well before we get to that let’s spill the T on tonight’s episode or RuPaul’s Drag Race.

I’m really loving the post elimination work room start they are doing this season, it’s really good. After Monica’s elimination everyone was all ears about Vivienne who right away was making some excuses about being in a group with too many loud queens. All T, All Shade, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen girl. She was mainly going after Roxxxy Andrews who I have to say is turning out to be the one to beat this season.
