If you’re an avid reader of the site, you might’ve noticed there was a shortage of articles Sunday. Reason being was, we were all busy having our Christmas staff party. Given everyone’s busy schedules this time of year, it’s almost next to impossible to find a date that works for everyone. Surprisingly, all but three of us were able to make it yesterday. That’s a pretty amazing feat considering our busy lives and Alex, Kevin and Topher not currently living in the same city as the most of us. Check out the pic above. The only people missing from the pic are Nic (his BF’s sis was in town), Stephen (was there earlier but had to leave for another engagement) and Alex (LA) and Kevin (Toronto).
It was great to have so many of us together to laugh, catch up and reminisce about the early days of the site. Not to sound super cheesy, but there’s this amazing energy among all of us when we’re all in the same room. With our recent accomplishments, it was nice to sit back and relax for one night and pat each other on the back.
In between all the laughs and drinks, we decided to have a gingerbread contest. We split up into two different teams determined by names out of the hat. Team 1 (my team) won the right to pick either the house or the train. We opted for the train. Each team was given only 30 minutes to build, decorate, and come up with a theme for their creation. Now, we need your help to decide which team pulled it off better. Cast your votes so we can declare a winner and give one team bragging rights over the other.
THANKS again to all of you for making Homorazzi.com such a success in a short period of time. We have the best readers on the internet for sure.
GIRL OH SHIT LOOK THE MAYANS ARE HERE!
I CANNOT! Let me set this up for you, I’m not a big fan of parodies. Half the time they are awful and the other half of the time they are REALLY awful. It’s only rarely do you get a really clever parody.
Peppermint’s parody of Azealia Banks’ “212” is probably my favorite parody of the entire year, and how fitting that it comes at the end of the year right? Peppermint is NYC drag ROYALTY and in this parody she pretty much hits all the hilarious cliche’s of the end of the year, but it’s not until 1:54 min mark when she kicks in that HILARIOUS CHORUS that had me SCREAMING at the top of my lungs! It is SO FUNNY! Trust you have to watch it, Peppermint is definitely one to watch for the next year if she keep pumping out stuff like this.
Take a look at the video, trust me you won’t be disappointed!
I always say we find out who the REAL stars are after the show. Who has the most commercial appeal, who is going to be seen everywhere and who gets cast in legit music videos.
RuPaul’s Drag Race LEGEND and my GIRL, the superstar that is RAVEN is the star of the new music “Feed Me Diamonds” by MNDR. When I was with her in Seattle, she kept going on about MNDR and how she was such a big fan so I’m sure this is something very special for her.
The video takes us on the journey of what it takes to transform into Raven from makeup, hair, contacts, padding and outfit. The video is flawless and the song is even better! Make sure you pick it up on iTunes HERE. Watch the video below!
I always have a soft spot for the teenage Avenger stories. The Young Avengers (which I will review later) is my favourite Avengers storyline, so when I got Avengers Academy from MARVEL, I couldn’t wait to get to it.
Semester 2 starts up with the former students (Finesse, Reptil, Hazmat, Mettle and Striker) fear that with the arrival of Captain America and some of the Avengers, they are going to be sent away from the academy because of some of the events that happened prior to this storyline. After Mettle punches out Luke Cage, Cap and Dr. Pym assure that even with the arrival of the new students they are absolutely not going anywhere. One of the new students is HYBRID (obviously in disguise) and evil villain telepath that needs to feed on students energy to survive. But how is he getting the energy?
Reptil, one of the original students has been taken over by his future self. Future Reptil came back to make sure some events happen so that the timeline can end up how it’s supposed to. Marvel loves to play with the timeline so that they can have an aswer for everything, it’s genius but can be quite confusing at times. The future Reptil is trying to save is one where he and Finesse get together and have a child, but that can only happen is Hybrid kills some of the students, morbid right?
This week, a new episode of Homorazzi aired on OUTtv (Episode 9 to be exact) and in case you missed it, we’ve got the full episode for you to check out below. Since Nic (one of our usual panelists) was away vacationing in Hawaii (stay tuned for coverage on that), Blue from OUTtv join in as a special guest!
As usual, the panel started off by tackling some of the latest Gossip and the most heated discussion took place on the topic of Rihanna & Chris Brown seemingly back in a relationship. The conversation then transitioned to Britney Spears & will.i.am‘s new “Scream & Shout” music video as well as comments on how she’s been doing on The X-Factor as a judge. Also discussed was Tegan & Sara‘s new “Closer” music video and we’d like to clarify that the Canadian indie rock duo are indeed both lesbians and twin sisters (despite some of the confusion discussed in the episode below – LOL).
In closing, they talk about the recent viral YouTube videos that started with “Gay Men Will Marry Your Girlfriends,” and a new gay British series worth checking out. Check out the episode below!
HA! Don’t you just LOVE the name of new column. I TOTALLY stole it from Austin Powers and it’s totally fitting don’t you think? So here’s the scoop, I have gotten some really great stuff from the people at MARVEL COMICS. Obviously it’s going to focus more on the gay and lezzy types of story lines (But I will read anything *wink*) to fit in with the content of our homolicious website here so here goes the first one…NORTHSTAR!
Northstar, as any true nerd knows was one of the first openly gay superheroes ever, and he’s Canadian so that’s a double bonus. MARVEL made a huge announcement this year when they said that Northstar was going to be marrying his partner Kyle in the first ever Gay Superhero wedding, this collected edition gives us the run down of how they got engaged and finally the wedding.
Definitely not the person everyone wanted it to be.
As I sit here and write the review for the finale of RuPaul’s All-Stars Drag Race, I had to take a moment and figure out what angle I was going to take. I could write about how pissed off I was and rage type and make tons of mistakes, but I’ve already done that. I can write about how the fan favorites were ROBBED AGAIN but everyone else has already done that. Instead I am going to write about how absolutely disappointed I, and pretty much everyone else in the world is with tonight’s decision. But let’s recap shall we?
There was no mini challenge this week because the Final 4 had a big main challenge. It was very reminiscent of America’s Next Top Model and the go sees. The queens had to drive around LA and make 3 stops: An interview, to accept an award and finally to do a stand up routine. Before that however, each of the queens had a 1 on 1 with Sheri Oteri to run their routines and get some pointers. All of them had issues so it was hard to tell right away who was in the lead.
Yes I knew this was coming up as soon as RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race started. Yes I was looking forward to it the absolute most, and yes I was so incredibly disappointed with the outcome of the episode. I’m going to tell you why in a BIG paragraph rant at the end but first let’s review what happened shall we?
Back in the workroom it was Rujubee and Shad left. Probably the most unsurprising final teams anyone could’ve imagined but my girls were still there so I was happy. Ru came onto the TV screen and it was all superhero talk. Yes girl I started salivating. She LOVES her superheroes and her comic books (SIDENOTE – I’ll be started a new column on Homorazzi about all that real soon), and I couldn’t wait to see what they were going to turn out. First though it was mini challenge time, BASKETBALL. While I totally don’t know what this has to do with drag I’m not going to lie, I loved it. It was hysterical. Rujubee dominated the court and won the mini challenge. Their prize? Phone calls home.
