It’s so funny how one week someone can be on top, and the next week they can just drive me crazy again. Last week, I mentioned how amazing Coco Montrese was, and this week she’s just a big whiney baby wahh wahh Alyssa is mad at me. Honestly she needs to get over it, but I guess it’s keeping us all talking about her which equals screen time. Hmmmm….
After Serena’s elimination last week our girls all came back into the workroom and we FINALLY started to get some history with Alyssa and Coco. Of course it had something to do with a pageant, in fact it was Coco who was Alyssa’s first alternate. So after Alyssa got dethroned, Coco got the crown. Drama? Not really -it’s kind of the rules, but you know queens and a crown right?
This week’s mini challenge was great, it was a Junior Drag pageant. The girls had to team up and make up a dummy to look like a junior drag queen. The winning team was Lil Pound Cake done up by Lineysha and Alaska. It was the best one for sure no complaints there. As the winners, they were made captains of two teams, where they had to create a children’s show. I’m kind of over the group challenges and I really want to see the bitches shine on their own, but I digress.
Having just aired on OUTtv last week, we’ve got the latest episode of our Homorazzi show to share with you and this one’s pretty funny. Given that it was a while ago that it was filmed, some of the content is a bit out of date but regardless, we’re pretty sure you’ll get a good laugh or two. The usual peeps make up the panel (From Left to Right: Tommy, Nic, Patrick and Adam.
In this episode, the cast talks about a few of their goals for 2013, as well as the latest in music, television, movies, and gay news. The cast also discusses their plans to attend WinterPRIDE 2013, which they did indeed end up doing this past weekend (stay tuned for pictures and video from the weekend).
Keep your eyes peeled for all of Adam’s eye rolls and one part where Patrick says something he didn’t intend to (something that sounded dirty but wasn’t supposed to) and the result is the whole crew bursting into laughter. Nic & Patrick have some serious trouble pulling it together after that.
Watch the episode below and subscribe to Canada’s LGBT television network OUTtv to watch new episodes as soon as they come out.
I need to preface this by saying a few things. When I went to interview the producers of Drag Race a month ago, they told me that this was the best season of Drag Race. I have to say that already in Episode 2, this season SLAYS! The queens are SO good (except for Serena) and the challenges are already awesome. Tonight’s main challenge was FIERCE and so funny. Also, Miss COCO MONTRESE TURNED ME OUT this episode. I know I put her in my bottom girls last week and while I still don’t think she can win, she was giving me LIFE this week. She is SO funny and her shade is perfection. Ok, let’s get to it.
The episode started off completely differently this week. The first scene was when the queens walked back into the workroom after elimination. It was such a refreshing way to start the show. We got to see their feelings immediately after the elimination. So great. Serena blah blah was safe and people were not having it, especially Detox who was already missing Penny. When they got back the next day it was time for a mini challenge, a lip sync challenge. They had to lip sync one of RuPaul’s songs behind a giant RuPaul face with only their lips showing. I KNEW Detox would be one of the winners her lip sync is always perfect. The other winners were Ivy Winters and Serena blah blah. Those three became captains and had to choose teams to compete in the lip sync main challenge: Recreating a famous scene from Untucked from the past seasons. Genius.
Did you catch the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5? Wasn’t it everything? I have to tell you after the mess that was All Stars it was so refreshing to be able to go back to a brand new season with brand new contestants that we can get to know and love (or hate!) all over again. After watching the first episode I have already picked my Top 6, and have picked my Bottom 3. The rest are somewhere in the middle which is never a good thing. Now before I reveal who I think can go all the way, let’s do a lil review of what happened during the premiere episode shall we?
In customary form all the queens started to enter the work room, I can’t really judge who has IT right off the bat because everyone is super nice and dressed to the nines, but I can tell you that Detox, Roxxxy and Honey definitely shined for me, as I’m sure they did for most of you. We learned that Detox and Roxxxy have known each other for a long time, and we learned that Alaska has finally made it onto Drag Race after many years of trying. Their first challenge was an underwater photo shoot in their looks. HELLO TOP MODEL MUCH?!? Season two when April (my fave) STOLE the photo shoot. For our girls though it was a bit of a mess. Most couldn’t get down enough, some floundered and Alaska just gave up. Which was really surprising to me considering she has wanted the opportunity to be on the show for long. Yes this is a point that many are going to bring up, and yes I’m sure she has left an odd taste in people’s mouths after that but what are you gonna do? It’s episode one but right now she hasn’t really made an impact.
How can you tell RuPaul’s Drag Race is starting up today? New releases from former and current contestants!
The Drag trio of Willam, Detox and Vicky Vox have released the follow up to their MASSIVE hit Chow Down (at Chick-fil-a), a hilarious parody of Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” song called, “Boy Is A Bottom“. I have to tell you these three have it. They are all funny, don’t take themselves too seriously, and can all pretty much sing. I have to give major props to Vicky on this one, in the “Chow Down” video we didn’t get to see much of her and she pretty much steals the video in this one.
And don’t forgot to watch Drag Race tonight on Logo (in the US) and OUTtv (in Canada) at 9pm, then tomorrow check back for my full review where I cut these bitches down! Enjoy the video below!
One of the coolest days my “wife” Anna and I had was the day we spent networking and doing some interviews. I was very lucky enough to get to go to the World Of Wonder offices. Now for many it might not be THAT important, but for me it was a very special day. I LOVE World of Wonder. I have been a fan of their’s for years. They have in my opinion the best blog on the internet (aside from Homorazzi, of course) the WOW report, they are the creators and producers of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Drag U, and are also the brains behind some of the best movies and documentaries and reality shows out there. Yes this was a big day for me.
To say that I was nervous was a bit of an understatement, but it wasn’t a bad nervous. As Anna and I parked our car and met up with Pete I was getting juiced. We walked onto the main floor and I started to see all my favourite bloggers (James St. James, Stephan Saban) and photos and posters of all the WOWlebrities on the walls. Our first assignment was to look through their new book The World according to Wonder which was a 21 year history of the production company. So Peter sat us down as a desk (which we later found out was RuPaul’s desk, NO BIG DEAL!!!) and we went through the book. It was incredible, everyone is in it. Seriously like everyone. From the biggest stars to the in house staff, everyone. Funny story, as we were reading I heard JAMES ST JAMES doing a Celebrity receptionist of the Day and it was The Beekman Boys, but I was too scared to even peak around the corner! Totally regret it.
A new episode of Homorazzi has been airing this week on OUTtv, but in case you’ve missed it or you don’t live in Canada, we’ve got it here for you to check out, witch cast members (from left to right) Tommy, Nic, Patrick, and Adam. We’ve also included our New Year’s Special, which aired on New Year’s Eve as well.
As you may recall, Nic was away in Hawaii for our last episode as well as for the New Year’s Eve special. In our newest episode, he may have been wishing he was still there because Adam seemed to be on his case the whole episode, catching Nic off guard by calling him out on some things that had recently happened (allegedly) in his personal life. Nic was not happy and ironically, this all went down while discussing the new Les Miserables film.
The panel talks about what they think about Ke$ha‘s new album, The Hobbit, This Is 40, the Gossip Girl finale and more. They also talk about how much they love the hilarious new web series, Willam’s Beatdown.
If you’re an avid reader of the site, you might’ve noticed there was a shortage of articles Sunday. Reason being was, we were all busy having our Christmas staff party. Given everyone’s busy schedules this time of year, it’s almost next to impossible to find a date that works for everyone. Surprisingly, all but three of us were able to make it yesterday. That’s a pretty amazing feat considering our busy lives and Alex, Kevin and Topher not currently living in the same city as the most of us. Check out the pic above. The only people missing from the pic are Nic (his BF’s sis was in town), Stephen (was there earlier but had to leave for another engagement) and Alex (LA) and Kevin (Toronto).
It was great to have so many of us together to laugh, catch up and reminisce about the early days of the site. Not to sound super cheesy, but there’s this amazing energy among all of us when we’re all in the same room. With our recent accomplishments, it was nice to sit back and relax for one night and pat each other on the back.
In between all the laughs and drinks, we decided to have a gingerbread contest. We split up into two different teams determined by names out of the hat. Team 1 (my team) won the right to pick either the house or the train. We opted for the train. Each team was given only 30 minutes to build, decorate, and come up with a theme for their creation. Now, we need your help to decide which team pulled it off better. Cast your votes so we can declare a winner and give one team bragging rights over the other.
THANKS again to all of you for making Homorazzi.com such a success in a short period of time. We have the best readers on the internet for sure.
