I totally party fouled guys! I totally missed my Wednesday interview with Coco and had to do it yesterday which is why we are a day late. WHOOPS! At least we got something. The most polarizing cast member this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, I chatted with Coco about her mutual respect for Alyssa Edwards, what she though her hardest challenge was, her Vegas show and which queen she thought was her biggest competition.

Take a listen below and come back on Tuesday to see my thoughts on the newest episode!

Nerd Alert: Batgirl #19 @GailSimone

In: Random Reads, Tommy D, Totally GAY!

Yesterday morning as I was waking up I thought that it has been a while since my last Nerd Alert and I was really wanting to do another one. Little did I know (mainly because I try not to read spoilers) that I would read one of the best issues of comics in the New 52, and that it came from Batgirl.

I have always had a love hate relationship with the New52 Batgirl. First of all I am a Stephanie Brown fan through and through and getting rid of her as Batgirl (and from the DCU altogether) was heartbreaking for me. I also loved Barbara as Oracle and I truly feel that we have lost one of the best characters in the history of comics, but I still picked her up. The first year was a bit rocky for me mainly because Batgirl I felt was a wimp. As we all know Barbara was shot and paralyzed by the Joker and was in a wheelchair. She became Oracle the info jock of the DCU for all of it’s heroes and an intellectual counterpart to Batman. With the reboot they gave her back her legs through a miracle surgery. Well in the first chunk of issues she just kept whining about her new legs, and how she was scared to lose them again and all the remorse she felt by being able to walk while so many don’t. It got incredibly redundant that I almost dropped the title.

Thank god I didn’t.

It’s the makeover episode! I guess this season we have the family member, it’s not really specific as to what family member with the made over partners because we got a wide array of ages right? Let’s start at the beginning shall we?

The Mini Challenge this week was working out with boobs or something. I find it so pointless when they do challenges like this, I have no idea what it has to do with anything but whatever. So the winner of the mini challenge was Alaska. After her win we find out who the queens are making over, and it’s OUT ARMY VETS! DADT was repealed so that is what they latched onto this year. I LIVED for these army queens honestly, so so so funny. Some of them were just SUCH queens like the one Detox got paired up with. Honey she just wanted to get into some pumps as soon as she good (CHECK YOUR DRAG DETOX!!!)

I woke up yesterday in an awful mood. I was cranky, I didn’t want to go for my run, I didn’t want to go to work I was just not into it.

Enter ALYSSA EDWARDS.

Now I have made it VERY clear where I stood with Alyssa from the beginning of this season, she wasn’t one of my favorites but then she grew on me and by the time she left I found myself quoting her one liners, doing the Alyssa Face in the mirror and just living for everything she was giving me on that show. We had a 20 minute interview and it is definitely in my top 5 favorite interviews ever. By the time it was over I was in a great mood.

I’m going to miss you on my TV Alyssa but because of you I now know what to say to someone when they wear too much bronzer.

GIRL, look how orange you fucking look GIRL!

Theatre Review: Billy Elliot The Musical

In: The Arts, Tommy D

I’m going to preface this by saying the following; Billy Elliot is in my top 10 movies of all time. It was a movie that I saw when I was much younger and spoke to me as a piece to be true to yourself no matter what. It was such an important movie in my life that when the opportunity came to see the stage production I jumped at it. Was I going in with a bias opinion? I don’t think so. If anything I would be harder on the stage version because I was such a fan of the movie (Fun Fact, when I was in film 100 years ago, we had to take an existing movie and cut a trailer from the footage. I did Billy Elliot and it was flawless).

Billy Elliot is the story of a young lad living in England with his father, brother and gran during the time of the miner’s strike. He is growing in a very macho dominated home since his mother died and his father sends him everyday to boxing. It was on one of these faithful days that he had to stay behind and ended up joining the ballet class. He falls in love with the ballet and excels so much so that his teacher wants him to audition for the Royal Ballet Academy. His father and brother find out and go mental because ballet is for sissies (not true), and the whole plan goes up in smoke. All the while this is playing against the miner’s strike. If you haven’t seen the movie you need to, and if you haven’t seem the stage production well you better get to it.

Honestly a week without RuPaul’s Drag Race was torture. I can’t believe how boring Monday nights are without it, I have no idea what’s going to happen in May once the show is totally over.

After a week off I was ready for these bitches to turn it, and they did. This week was another group challenge and it was very clever: a TELENOVELA, hysterical. First though we had the mini challenge which was a crying on cue challenge, however Detox made it very real when she talked about her ex boyfriend who has died, a very real vulnerable moment for the strong Detox was incredibly beautiful. She had won the mini challenge along with Alyssa.

The queens were separated into two groups with Detox and Alyssa being captains. Detox has reassembled Rolaskatox and Alyssa got Coco and Jynkx who have been having some drama. The telenovela was directed by RuPaul and legend Maria Conchita Alonso with a special appearance by Wilmer Valderama who despite being a Latin star was absolutely beige in this challenge, yawn.

There is a REASON we don’t do interviews on Fridays. Yesterday at Homorazzi HQ we (Donovan and I) were pretty rough because of the brand new night in Vancouver LIBERACE (Which is EVERYTHING btw). Thankfully the gorgeous Ivy was also a bit tired so we had a great joke about that.

I asked her about her name, I asked her about Jinkx. And she told me about a great future project for her which I think if FABULOUS! Take a listen and enjoy.

Excuse me while I go hide under my desk.
