Turn Soda Into Instant Slush!

In: Random Reads, Redd, Videos

I don’t know about you but I love my cold icy drinks in the Summer. I especially love cola slushie from the local 7-11 and Iced Coffees. What’s your favorite Summertime drink?

Take any bottle of soda, and get it to freeze on command! This “super cool” trick works with cans of soda as well

WARNING: Leaving soda in the freezer too long can result in failure of the container, and a big mess. Glass bottles are not recommended, as the ice expands when freezing and can shatter the glass explosively. Use of video content is at own risk.

The anomaly of “self freezing soda” has been observed by many people, usually by accident. Some people put a soda in the freezer to chill it, but then forget about it. When they’ve remembered and gone to get it, it’s liquid until they open it, leaving them puzzled. Some people have noticed the effect by leaving the soda outside in cold temperatures.

There is a vending machine in Hong Kong that sells supercooled Coke bottles, and the instructions to trigger nucleation is the same as in this video, however they recommend taking a sip when the cap is on. I believe this is to increase the chances of impurities being introduced into the liquid, making nucleation more likely.

In this video, you’ll learn how to turn any ordinary liquid soda into instant slush like magic!

One of my favorite online retailers, Mr. Porter, has teamed up with Equinox Fitness which is launching here in Toronto next month.

This is a unique take on advertising as both companies share expert advise on a well lived life when it comes to fashion and fitness. We all know that a fit physique makes for a great frame for amazing clothing.

In the clip Chernow, who is co-owner of the team behind the Meatball Shop chain of eateries, is followed in his daily routine, from breakfast to biking around Manhattan and finally a workout at the end of his work day.

Music: What’s On My Dance Party Playlist?

In: Music, Redd, Videos

I always gravitate towards music when I’m hanging out at home and listen to anything from lounge music, top 40 to electronic/house tunes. At any given time, there is a Dance Party Playlist on my iPhone which usually contains remixes of popular Top 40 hits and come in handy for various activities like cleaning the apartment, showering, laundry or going for a run.

Here are 6 tracks currently on my playlist. Leave me some of your suggestions in the comments below. I’d love to know what you’re listening to.

Check out the tracks on the next part of the post.

Travel: Buenos Aires

In: Random Reads, Redd, Travel & Leisure

So it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been back from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I am missing the amazing weather & wearing summer clothing. The trip in summary was fun, filled with sight seeing, eating, shopping & some night life. There were lots of great things about Buenos Aires but there were also some things that were a bit annoying.

1. Food

Food was very affordable and amazing. I could not get enough of the empanadas! Argentina is known for their beef and there was no shortage of that. Everyone you turn is a parilla serving various amazing cuts of meat cooked on the grill. Palermo Hollywood has the best assortment of restaurants. Be careful though, specially if you have a sensitive stomach, the organisms in the food may upset your digestive system.

A friend of mine from Sony Music Canada brought me along to see Pop superstar P!nk’s “Truth About Love Tour” in Toronto last night for her first of two Canadian stops (she also plays at Montreal’s Bell Centre March 12) and the show had all the classic P!nk moments we have come to expect from her – lots of theatrical moments, tons of feel-good power anthems to sing along to, more than a couple Cirque Du Soleil-worthy moments, and perhaps most importantly – hottie Colt Prattes (her costar in the incredible Try video)!

The tour is in support of her “Truth About Love” album which has been certified double platinum in Canada and is proving to be one of her most successful to date. P!nk played a range of material from the album, including current single “Just Give Me a Reason,” “Try” (featuring the aforementioned Colt Prattes, a performance that is even more incredible in person to watch) and ended the night (quite appropriately) with “Truth About Love” lead single “Blow Me (One Last Kiss).”

Videos from her tour after the jump…

So this year’s big trip has been decided and it will be Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 10-day trip has been booked for February. I haven’t really thought much about it until this week where the temperatures in Toronto have dropped to -20.

We booked three apartments in a building complex in the Palermo Hollywood area, a 2-bedroom and two 1-bedrooms. There are 8 people going on this trip and we are looking forward to taking in the scenery, culture, food & nightlife. While there, so far I have only done enough research to know that I want to see the Evita Museum and visit a winery.
