Come on Vancouver, I know you don’t have anything better to do on a Sunday because not much happens there. Trust me, I know! So come out and support a great cause. Order a “Bromosa“, that’s Strongbow & Orange Juice… it’s a man’s mimosa ;)
TOMORROW WE COMMEMORATE 30 YEARS OF HIV/AIDS

More than 30 million people have died of AIDS since the first five cases were recognized in Los Angeles in 1981. About 34 million live with HIV around the world.

Even though we’ve had possibly the worst Spring ever, I think it’s safe to say that I’m loving Toronto. I’ve had the chance to venture out into different areas and the city has so much to offer. Little pockets of interesting neighborhoods, art galleries, shopping & restaurants. One month down and it’s looking good so far.
I’m also enjoying the anonymity of being new to the city. I haven’t had the chance to go out to the clubs & bars yet but I’m not in a rush to since I live here now, there will be plenty of chances to venture out into the nightlife.
This weekend, I went out and bought a few pieces of furniture to fill my semi-empty apartment like a tv stand and a dining table. Now my place feels complete and so comfortable and homey! Having lived in a small studio/bachelor apartment in Vancouver for over 6 years, I did miss certain little things like having a separate bedroom, having a real bed (I had a murphy/wall bed in my studio) & having a real dining table instead of a bar height counter to eat on.
Although it didn’t seem like Summer was ever coming back West and here in the East, temperatures have started to warm up. We’ll soon be outdoors as much as we can enjoying beaches, pools, patios & BBQ. So what important items should you have in your Summer travel bag? Having these items in your bag allows you to maximize your Summer going from office to the beach. Here are 8 important items you shouldn’t go without.
8. Summer slip on shoes – I’ve been waiting to wear these awesome Houndstooth SlipOn shoes from Sanuk. They’re super comfortable from city walking to hanging out on the beach. Don’t be afraid to have fun with these slip ons, try them in bright colours too.
Day 21 of the next chapter of my life and everything seems to be going well. I’m finally settled in my new apartment and am now familiar with most of the streets in my neighborhood. I couldn’t have picked a better area to be in for the first year since it’s close to everything like grocery stores, shopping on Bloor St., restaurants on Yonge St., etc. I’m also only 20-25 minutes walking distance from work.
I survived the first week of work but the first few days was challenging. It’s gonna take me a good few weeks to really get settled in at work but I’m looking forward to it. So much to learn about managing projects from start to finish. Dani has been enjoying coming to work with me and everyone loves him. He’s adjusted very well to his new home and I’m glad I have him to keep my company.
Do you remember the days when you had to wait an entire week for your HIV test result? That’s seven long days recalling every sexual encounter in agonizing – and graphic – detail, over and over. Thankfully, HIV testing has changed – and a new fan video produced by local guys explains how easy (and fast!) getting your results can be.
Tony Correia (of Xtra! and Foodsluts fame) is a huge fan of HIM . Last month, he called some friends together, (including local celeb Redd from Homorazzi.com) to make this video explaining how rapid HIV testing for HIM’s Sexual Health Centre works.
It’s short, cute, and campy. Basically, we love it. You can view the video on the next part of the post.
So I arrived in Toronto on Monday, April 25th and I’ve just been busy getting to know the city so I don’t get so lost & setting things up for my new apartment which I get the keys for today!
Because I did a major purge of my things before I left. I now have to purchase a few things here to get me started.
I purchased a nice pillow-top queen bed which is being delivered on Monday. I can’t wait because for the last few years in Vancouver, I’ve been sleeping in a murphy (wall) bed and because this was built into my studio apartment, it could only hold a double mattress. It’s going to be so nice to sleep in a bed larger than a double and one that I don’t have to lift up into the wall every morning.
On my last day at my old job in Vancouver, my co-workers had a going away lunch for me and gave me a gift certificate for IKEA to get me started with some necessities so I used it to buy some new pillows, linens and a bunch of little things for the apartment. It was very nice of them… I miss them already.
I’ve been checking out Future Shop for LED TV’s because they use only a fraction of what LCD & Plasma flat panels do. I can’t decide whether to go for a 40″ or a 46″. What do you think? Here are my 2 choices mainly because of the price. If anyone wants to sponsor my TV let me know ;)
The countdown begins as the reality of my big move sets in. I’m happy we found a great person as my replacement at work, it will take time to get settled into the position and get the hang of things but I am confident that she can do it. Although our skill sets are a little different, she learns fast, so this next week will be spend training and imparting trade secrets. The past few weeks have been a bit stressful specially dealing with having to look for a new apartment remotely. I’m glad though I could count on my friend Jeff (who knows me super well) and we found a great apartment on the 14th floor of an ultra brand new swanky 40+ storey condo in the Yonge & Bloor area. Did I mention this place had a sweet outdoor pool? I know where I’ll be spending most of my time come Summer.
I don’t know about you, but after Lady Caca’s lackluster single “Born This Way,” I was kind of wondering, “Where the F%$k is Beyoncé?
A snippet of her new single “Girls” [Who Rule The World] has hit the internet and has caused quite a stir. I am so ready for more BeyBey! Bring it on! This will be part of Beyonce’s fourth studio album, titled “B Revolution”. In the song, you can here a sample of “Pon De Floor” by Major Lazer.
Listen to the snippets in the next part of the post.
